David Grissomâs multifaceted oeuvre comprises a slew of stage and studio performances; heâs played alongside the likes of John Mellencamp, the Allman Brothers, the Chicks, Eric Johnson, Buddy Guy, and Bob Dylan, to name a few. Heâs also found critical acclaim for his work with Storyville, the blues-rock outfit he cofounded in 1993 that sits at the intersection of his multi-genre playstyle. Needless to say, Grissomâs distinctive chops require a finely tailored tone, and PRS answered the call to craft a signature amp capable of supporting his versatile yet characteristic output. Thus, the DGT 15 was born: a 15-watt tube head with a formidable suite of tone-crafting features, painstakingly modeled after a multitude of prized vintage amps from Grissomâs personal collection. Sweetwater had the honor of hosting David Grissom to show off the DGT 15 firsthand. Check it out!

I would definitely say Haynes and Trucks. They both have made different tones through their own style using different amps and guitars IMO you don't need all the expensive stuff. Just a decent guitar a good tube amp, and if your lucky enough to have a good sound engineer to understand your tone ...
All you need . I promise.
One of my dream list amps at a wattage that I can use most places and an affordable price point.
Perfect. Including not having an FX loop (havenât used one in years anyway)
Check out the Egnater rebel 20 very simple and versatile tube head adjustable 1-20 watts.
@@jefflancaster4423 I actually own an Egnater Tweaker combo. Great little amp overall.
To be fair, I also own a Dr. Z Maz 18 which is amazing and my preference anytime I can get away with using an amp.
Personally, I would rather have the amp as simple as possible. No FX loops on it at all. Since I use the Fryatt power station, I never have to worry about needing an FX loop.
Eric Johnson is another artist that needs a signature amp. Needs to be a 15 watt amp like DGâs.
Totally agree. I just hope it would hit the stores in the next few years. Iâll be in my nineties if he spends 20 years developing it!
This is on my short list of first tube amps for my teenage Grandson.
What a generous grandpa! Love it.
Have you considered Synergy? A teenager has plenty of time to explore tone, and $400 preamp modules are a great way to keep that affordable for several years. Synergy will release a 20W lunchbox head (with cathode-biased power tubes, like the PRS DGT 15, hence no paying a tech to bias new tubes) in the coming months, the SYN-20, which includes features not included in other Synergy products to date (including, but not limited to, an impulse response host for recording and gigging without a speaker cabinet).
Great amp, great guy! đ„
Looking forward to other players demoing the amp. David sounds like this through everything Iâve heard him play, which is amazing imo. But Iâm sure the amp has way more variety in it.
Looking Forward To Playing With You

Very "Dumbleish" sound conception. Nice.
Think I can use this thing to it's potential and not get written up by my HOA?
What can you tell me about your speaker cabinet(s)?
@@Robstafarian It's a gutted 80W Boss Nextone with a 12 inch celestion creamback.
@@LumaTo The Celestion G12M-65 Creamback has a rated sensitivity of 97dB, which means that your cab will generate about 109dB at a one-meter distance when this amp's back end begins to distort. A 15W amp is only 6dB quieter than a 60W amp, all other things being equal.
If you had other players in mind then an FX loop was a must. Almost 90% of players need that. I don't mind the single channel but no NO FX loop? That doesn't work for me. Sorry.
Don't be a baby, run your delays pre distortion as God intended đ
Its a linear amp similar to a vox ac or a Marshall plexi. Loops dont work in these amps because the power amp is distorting. FX loops are not compatible with these circuits at all. Listen to Dave friedman talk about this in the Tone Talk Podcast
Jimi Hendrix never used an effects loop.
Not that it would discourage me from buying the amp, the loop is good for volume control (JHS little Black amp, volume pedal) and for loopers. But I get the reasons and don't mind, it wouldn't sound good with modern pedalboards, as the distortion comes from power stage EL84. It's just a vintage amp, deal with it
I don't need to buy it or deal with it. I need an amp that has FX loop. Everyone in my life uses loop. As it was designed for other players in mind it was probably wise to include it. I am nor Hendrix and don't get any messages from god. So as an ordinary player i and many others probably would stay away . There are other options for players now. I did like the tone of the amp but not in love.
