- Here I directly compare two identically priced, premium Epiphone semi-hollows, the Inspired By Gibson Custom ES-355 and the 150th Anniversary Sheraton. I highlight the similarities and differences and provide sound demos both in isolation and in a mix. I point out why you might choose one over the other, and give my own thoughts.

I’ve watched a number of videos on both these guitars. Your side-by-side comparison of the tonal differences between the regular Humbucker and the Mini-Humbucker is the best one I’ve heard so far. No other video bears out the slight, yet discernible tonal differences between the two pickup types as yours does.
Both guitars are quite fetching. I prefer the tonalities of the Mini-Humbuckers, as well as the slimmer neck profile of that model.
I’d have no problem loving and playing the heck out of either guitar, however.
Just great-sounding, great-looking guitars. A pleasure to see and hear.
Thanks so much. Yes, the 355 is a really nice guitar, but I also lean slightly toward the Sheraton. Good mini-buckers produce some really nice, versatile sounds. And it looks truly gorgeous.
Demos so good I forget I'm watching a review!
Thank you so much.
What a joy to hear those performances!
Thank you my friend. Appreciated.
Hey Leonard , I can’t choose if it was me I’d keep both, I want both!!! Great review probably one of my favourites, have a great weekend
✌️🧷🎸
I’m with you. Unfortunately if I start keeping the ones I like my channel will grind to a halt!
Thanks and have a great weekend yourself.
Those mini humbuckers sound so good. And the Sheraton looks so nice with that whammy. I don't care for gold hardware and wish it had the chunky neck.
Interesting fact. The earliest Sheratons (1958) had leftover Epiphone New York necks (and New York pickups). I own a New York Epiphone, a 51, and it’s one my favorite necks ever. Not overly big, but a full V neck.
Thanks so much for watching.
Hi Len, you make both of these sound really awesome. These are both so compelling I'd honestly be thrilled with either if they were available in lefty. If you forced me to make a choice, I'd have to say Sheraton. The wiggle stick is cool and those mini hums sound so good. Great comparison my friend. You do great work, Cheers
Thank you so my friend. I appreciate the feedback
I definitely lean towards the Sheraton because I really have always loved those Epiphone originals, and they have their own sound
I’m with you there. Nice as the 355 is, Epiphone doing Epiphone is my preference. Thanks.
Love the sound and look of the Sheraton and it reminds me of John Lee Hooker's guitar.
Yes, and Otis Rush played a Riviera, which was just a less fancy version of the same guitar.
Really great playing... As usual. 🙂
Thank you my friend.
Thanks! With much gratitude Sir!
Thank you so much!
Nice comparative video Mr Leonard. As always your guitar playing skills is top-notch. And of course, your extensive knowledge of these 2 iconic guitars presented in your radio-quality voice is a real treat. Both sound good, but for my taste, I prefer the ES-355’s warm and woody tone. The Sheraton’s presence and brightness are readily appreciated but later on starts to border on fatigue-inducing. But, I might be bias, as I must confess I have the Ebony version of the ES-355. As for the looks department, the Sheraton wins, as I personally prefer gloss over satin/matte finish and the elaborate’Tree of Life’ real MOP inlay on the Sheraton’s headstock despite my preference for the Gibson-style open book headstock with real MOP split-diamond inlay on the ES-355. 👍🏼👍🏼
They each have their strengths for sure. Really can’t go wrong.
Thanks so much for your support.
Wiggle Stick, gets my vote 😬
Thx for sharing your wealth of information with us.
Perfect song selection to throw down that Jam. Perfect fretboard workout to boot!!
You B Da Man!
Thanks my friend. It’s a pretty good wiggle stick at that.
Great video Leonard, and two very nice guitars. My preference is the Sheraton - the pick ups sound brighter, they have more presence. As for looks - the Sheraton again because it's more Epiphone than Gibson copy (if you see what I mean), It looks beautiful
I love the 355, but lean a little toward the Sheraton as well. I prefer it when Epiphone does Epiphone. Thanks for watching.
Fun! Both great, I do like the slightly 'pinched' bluesy edge of the Sheraton (and absolutely prefer the '60s neck!). Enjoyed the playing, as always, thanks!
The neck is a major difference to be considered.
Thanks for watching.
You make 'em both sound great.
Thank you my friend.
I have the the 355. I've done 4 shows with it so far. I love it. Very versatile. We cover country, blues, rock, pop and, 80s metal. It's hanging with my Gibson R8 great. I think it sounds better than my 50s standard. I was worried about it not being bright enough because there's plenty of bass in my band, so any guitar to warm doesn't work well. It is plenty bright enough. I think the Sharaton sounded great.
Yeah those Custombuckers sound very nice. There’s enough high end in the neck pickup I could stay there all night.
Thanks so much for watching.
Top notch guitar playing on both ❤.
Thank you my friend.
In its favour the Sheraton is a genuine reissue whereas the IBG isn't.
I fully agree. Thanks for watching.
Too close to call-
I’d like 1 of each just to be safe
You and me both my friend. Thanks for watching.
I want them both now. 😂 But would prefer the Sheraton because it’s an original and not just a cheaper version of a Gibson. And I like the airiness of its sound more in comparison.
I enjoy both of those aspects as well. Thanks.
I like the Epiphone Sheratons 100%.
It is a beautiful and sweet sounding guitar. Thanks for watching.
Len... are you playing through (Purple) Juke amp behind you?
That’s actually just an old 1x12 cab I’ve had for a couple decades. It’s a nice little cab. Company was bought out by Mojotone.
F those mini buckers . Love my new 355 adjust truss rod and new 10s lower the bridge and pickups , raise the tail stop BOOM !
Glad you like your choice. Thanks for watching.
the 150th Anniversary Sheraton is the way to go, but has a big hill to climb because I'm sold out on my Gretsch right now.
So many choices. I’m glad the Gretsch is working for you. Thanks for watching.
I give the (slight) edge to the 355
I find it a tough call. I love the sound of the 355, but the Sheraton is probably a tiny bit more versatile.
If you don’t love that tone then there’s just no helping you.
😆👍🏼
