    Native landscape screen, larger battery life (compared to win mini, win 4), oculink port, and ideal for laying on the sofa or bed. Checks all my boxes.

    The one thing for me that the Win Max 2 doesn't have and I think it really needs, is a high refresh rate screen. Everything else about it is spot on for me. I love the large screen, useable laptop features, and overall performance of the device. I can play it comfortably in bed by resting it on my stomach and the height of the device puts it at a comfortable viewing angle. And for how small it is compared to a 14" laptop it's got alot of ports. I've used mine to render 3d print models and the card slots on the side are just awesome.

    Hi great video. I have the winmax2 2023. Mine is the 64gb version with 2tb. I have the 2230 ssd as well and also an extra 1tb with a micro sd card. This gives a total of 5tb. In my opinion this is the best handheld pc for gaming available.

    I have the GPD Win Max 2 2023, and the GPD G1 egpu, and i absolutely LOVE IT.
    I modded the case to attach heatpipe directly connectd to heatpipes coming from CPU, and connected the new heatpipe to a thin heatsink to the bottom of the case. It lowered my max Temps from 93 down to max of 82 that ive seen so far.
    I even love it far more than using my far more powerful Alienware x15 R2 with RTX 4080 egpu via Razer Core X Chroma.

    I got this back last year around June. Its been great. I've been using it as a daily driver as a computer rather than for portable gaming. Playing games on it via monitor still works pretty well. I'm surprised how well Doom 2016 runs.

    the thing with the win max 2 is its a jack of all trades, master of none, I've had pretty much all worthwhile handhelds but only kept the win max 2 and win mini, you can just do more with a win max 2 - gaming, productivity, better then any other handheld for just watching videos to.
    I'll say that grips do make handheld gaming on it WAY more comfortable

    • @BarelyAverageDude
      @BarelyAverageDude  Před 7 měsíci

      Yeah I definitely can appreciate the versatility of the win max 2. It's growing on me and I have grips on the way. Because of the work I do it can't replace my actual laptop, but I could see this being the only device someone would need to take.

  • @DannyWelch

    This has been my daily driver since launch. I dock it with the G1 and a couple of monitors when at my desk and the performance is perfect for my needs. I tend to focus mostly on emulation and indie titles, which work very well docked or undocked. With the G1, I can play Cyberpunk, Elden Ring, God of War, and similar titles at 1080p/60 with high settings. When traveling for work, the battery holds up well during all-day meeting sessions running productivity apps. I have large hands, so the size is excellent for mobile gaming, and I love the 10" screen. Many other devices feel small and cramped to me.

    I have had the og deck, aok a1, ally, win 4, and the mini. I hate large devices, but hated the form factor of the win4. screen was too small and keyboard and mouse useless. The mini is perfect, it makes using windows just as easy as using a laptop. I too ended up preferring the grips. Even with the grips it is ultra compact and easy to throw in a small backpack pocket.

    They could not add controller at all, instead add some features like 120+HZ or display twist or both and something else.
    The 4G module doesn't really needed because everybody has 4G in a pocket, but additional SSD expansion would be a nice feature especially with multiboot.

    I got the GPD Max 2 in October and didn't really get to use it much, it came with various issues (screen and random restarts) and I had to pay $200 shipping/insurance to rma it. Now they've had it over a month and i'm just waiting for it to be repaired and sent back to me. It's a great form factor for me, big beautiful screen and a keyboard attached for when you need it. If they ever send it back to me fixed it will be my favorite device. In the meantime I love using the steam deck, and I regret buying the rog ally because its uncomfortable. I think i'm done buying devices that aren't clamshell though. If GPD hadn't sent me a broken device I'd have ordered another one for my husbands birthday. I hope yours is ok, i'm just very unlucky lol.

    The win mini provides the core compute essentials. The Oculink port really sets it up for extreme peripheral support. The way I see it, I can finally carry my workstation in 👏🏿 my 👏🏿 pocket! 👏🏿 and plug it into any devices I need to enhance the input, display, or compute resources as needed.

  • @FS-zt6tm
    @FS-zt6tm Před 7 měsíci +2

    Win Max 2 is the goated all around device if you want a device that can do it all. It isn't the best at anything but does everything well enough, a jack of all trades device. If I was looking for something that can replace my desktop/laptop/gaming consoles/gaming handhelds, I would look at getting a Win Max 2 and an eGPU setup to pair it with. The Win Mini is a close second but the trade off of sacrificing a surprisingly good keyboard for a bit more portability isn't worth it imo. Plus the Win Mini not having as much storage options and ports also feels like a major compromise

    • @creaturecore13
      @creaturecore13 Před 7 měsíci

      Its too much like a laptop too me in that i would just rather carry a g14 if i was going to carry the win max 2. Mini wins easy for me, but if you dont need the power of the g14 the max is fairly portable for a laptop.

      @@FS-zt6tm The mini does everything i need as is and is better at gaming given its size. I am not writing long emails to need the better keyboard of the max2. • @JB-tp6uj
    @JB-tp6uj Před 7 měsíci

    I had the 6800u versions of the Win Max 2 and Win 4. Unfortunately, didn't like either for different reasons. The Win 4 was extremely uncomfortable as there's barely any grip and it's thick. The buttons were very small and the analog sticks were interfering with my ability to hit any of the face buttons.
    The Win Max 2 bothers me because I actually like the device for everything except gaming. I couldn't hold it for very long and the recessed analog sticks were a no go. It did have a great d-pad despite it being small. I think I could have made it work if I was committed to using an external controller. If I was someone who traveled a lot, I could see the Win Max 2 being the ultimate portable option. Set it up on a plane or your hotel room and you have a great setup.

    @dgevert Před 7 měsíci +1

    Definitely do not buy this if you are just looking for a handheld. This thing is great if you're looking for a hybrid device specifically, or if you just want a small, powerful laptop. You mentioned how enormous this is as a handheld, but I think it's a mistake to not mention how tiny it is as a laptop. My WM2 is, simultaneously, a laptop, a handheld, and a mini-PC, since it uniquely has enough IO to not need any kind of dock or external accessories to use it in that manner. And as a laptop, it's uniquely small enough to fit on a lap desk on my couch while still having room for a mouse. Suddenly, I can portably play FPS games the way I truly prefer to play them: with a mouse and keyboard!
