    Technically, the GPD WIN 4 2024 is equipped with the new #AMD Ryzen 7 8840U CPU, known for its robust performance in mobile processing. It features a dual refresh rate 6” H-IPS touchscreen display that supports both 40Hz and 60Hz, allowing users to optimize either battery life or visual performance. Another significant inclusion is the OcuLink port, which enhances its capability by allowing connections to external GPUs, thereby elevating the #handheld gaming performance and versatility beyond typical handhelds.

    iv got the white win4 2023 edition capped at 7.5t tdp and getting 5 hours playing psx game emulation, if i didn't have the 23 one id be buying this one it is feeling a little soon for them to be bringing out the refresh as its the 3rd one for the win4. Overall I am very happy with my win4 and it has been my go to device for the work day transit and sneaky gaming when the office is quiet!!!

      Yeah 5W for PS1 is awesome, also the same for a lot of lower demanding games. The 2024 model does have better battery life at higher TDP but I think at 5W it would be roughly the same. We will do low TDP battery life tests in our round up of best handhelds video in a few months time.

    If you have Gamepass, can you test Madden 24 on this? I think I get slowdowns on my Ally due to the lack of RAM. Curious to see if 32GB and the new APU makes a difference.

    • @xxzenonionnex7658
      @xxzenonionnex7658 Před měsícem

      Madden requires 10gb ram on the cpu side and 4 gb on the gpu side. The allys has 16gb and it splits it so there's 8gb for gpu and 8gb for cpu. So 32gb would be enough

    Awesome, thanks for the good unboxing and testing (would have liked to see Cyberpunk 2077), been waiting for something like the GPD Win 4 (2024) to upgrade from my Ayaneo 2 (AMD 6800u) . I really want the Oculink for my GPD G1 which doesn't work reliably with the Ayaneo 2 but I also want the additional A.I. processing as there are rumors that Microsoft will be adding built in upscaling to windows that utilize the NPU processor. Can't wait.

    It seems that it gives better FSR performance, but after spending 1800 at Droix for the 2023 version and the G1, I think I’ll hold off. Unless Droix will do a good trade in deal 😉

    It is the fastest 8840u device for its size it's even better than the win mini which got a restricted tdp on the 8840u because of the poor cooling so the win 4 is definitely the best choice

    The big problem it's the screen size and HZ ...
    No Vrr and No 120Hz ...

    • @PROStarLight
      @PROStarLight Před měsícem

      Battery life costs something. Even if there was 120Hz - it can barely use it in indie and oldest games hitting around 120 fps. If you wish to use it with G1 you will probably use monitor better than native screen anyway. And the screen size... It's just 1 inch away of giant ahh steam deck which is not pocketable in the way GPD WIN 4 is.
      I wish there was an OLED screen tho!

    • @_spineless

    • @alphacompton
      @alphacompton Před měsícem

      I don't mind the lack of 120hz but VRR would have incredible. VRR is a game changer for underpowered devices that can't hit 60 fps consistently. Hopefully the 40hz mode will be an ok compromise.

    • @DroiX_Store
      @DroiX_Store  Před měsícem

      I would be surprised if any games take advantage of the AI features but we will see. There's some nice performance increases in some games and emulators but yes it wont be for every game due to the same 780M GPU.
