@@BingbongRecto much easier to pack a One Dock + powerbrick + laptop than a whole eGPU enclosure + laptop. My plan is tp have an RTX 3080 with the huge 450W power brick for my One Dock desktop setup with my 32" 1440p monitor and a smaller more compact RTX A2000 with a smaller 180W power brick for a smaller mobile workstation One Dock setup I can travel with or use by my bedside when I'm using the internal display on my Win Max 2.

I was running a 3090 in my Core X Chroma for a while, but in the last month it stopped working and I thought the GPU had died. You mentioned power surges and that's exactly what I experienced - the eGPU disconnects every peripheral and the GPU, the 3090's fans spin up at max speed and then the peripherals reconnect, but the GPU is unusable until a restart.
This gives me hope for my 3090 and will attempt with my 850W PSU soon to check if that was the issue.

I wonder how the performance would fare (including with ReBAR) with a full x8 link on OCuLink. The Framework 16's rear module has a PCIe 4.0x8 connection, so someone (maybe even Framework) could theoretically make an OCuLink x8 module for that laptop.

I am really interested in this product for in the context of putting into a camper van that can off-grid with solar power. Power draw is a concern for me and I had mostly written off the idea of using an eGPU, but now I'm curious. My current rig is a GPD Win Max 2 6800U using USB-C dock to drive two monitors - a 19" 5:4 and a 22" 16:10. With the laptop's display acting as a 3rd screen this all draws ~65 watts when gaming and ~30w idle. This eGPU enclosure that sits beneath the GPU has its own fans which implies it also gets hot? Every watt counts. Are you able to tell me what the enclosure itself costs in terms of wattage that I should consider in addition to the GPU? (which I'd be looking at undervolt/underclock 3050 or similar of course, I know this already).

5:41 how were you able to zero out the iGPU? I have a labtop with both an iGPU and dGPU. When in gaming I noticed that my iGPU is still running for some reason and taking up watts according to Afterburner. I'm currently having my labtop in a switch over mode but I believe that it's still running even when I'm in the dedicated mode. I don't want to disable my iGPU as I heard that could lead to other issues as well. I believe maybe the iGPU is still running to supply VRR maybe? I got an AMD running Nvidia for reference.

if you are power limiting the Egpu, you should of set the same power limit in the desktop using afterburner so it would be more comparable..

Why did you take down the thunderbolt? If you're gonna show the difference its a little hard to when you actually take away one of the samples.

Is there any way to get past 250w limit? would a 4070 or 4070 ti have issues with that oculink limit? 4090 would probably be too much.

@@Fldllse yeah, but the issue if that if u use a tb3 SSD/storage,tb3 bandwidth, which is already limited to 22gbps, gets shared.,it would be best if u use a connection that doesn't use pcie lanes to communicate.
