    I have before issue with my q7 2007, rough start specially mornings , check engine light. Come in sometime goes out, random misfire. Tried sparks and coil first, fix the for a couple months (check engine) and then lights comes. And research about the carbon build up and decide is time to do that, with excellent results,
    I used walnut shell. I found nasty stuff, sticky oil but not in all the ports. Currently not problems but I would like to install an oil catch can to reduce the amount of carbon build up.

      Hi Jairo, glad you got your Q7 fixed.. Sadly its a common issue on these audi engines with carbon buildup. The best thing you can do is use high tier quality gas and use a fuel cleaner every 1000-2000 miles and it will highly decrease the chance of major carbon buildup next time

    Do you have any excessive ticking noises on that side of the engine? You might have bad needle bearings on one of the two intake rocker arms for the #2 cylinder. Just went through this issue on my wife’s Q5 with same engine.

    • @jar03280
      @jar03280 Před měsícem

      It’s a major repair. You will need to remove the camshafts on the suspect side and this will require a special to hold the sprockets and keep the engine in time. After you remove the camshafts you will need to inspect the rockers for excessive play in the needle bearings. Search for “rocker arm replacement on Audi 3.2L FSI” There is also a good video on CZcams but I can’t remember the name of it.

    • @MrCARman
      @MrCARman  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Remy, next would be to get carbon cleaning done of your engine. And most likely that’s going to have to be taken to a shop because they take a part the top half of the engine. It’s a very common issue on Audi’s in general

    • @johnalbert7526
      @johnalbert7526 Před 2 lety

      It's a very common issue on most if not all direct injection engines due to the fact that the fuel does not go through the intake but is injected directly into the cylinder. In throttle body type motors the fuel passes through the intake, over the valves and then into the cylinders. In that instance the fuel actually helps keep everything in the intake system relatively clean.

    I need help like yesterday. Got a 2014 Audi Q5 2.0 L TFSI.
    It was purchased via dealer auction. At 200000 km. Since then, was driven 7000 km by another dealer with muffler leak for inter-city travel, vacuum leak and multiple cylinder misfire codes. I've been driving it since 1500 km and got the exhaust fixed. Oil filter and engine air filter are new. The codes are still there and drives fine.
    I am not sure what to do exactly. I've been told the codes could be false except vacuum leak and a vacuum leak can throw off the sensors.

    • @MrCARman
      @MrCARman  Před rokem +1

      Hi you might have a vacuum leak somewhere, but if not your engine is going to need carbon cleaning.. very common on the 2.0 and 3.2 engines on these Audis.. especially since the suv was being driven with a muffler leak and misfire, that could have caused even more carbon build up to happen in your engine.

      Very interesting comment pointing to the rats, I'm wondering if this coud be the case for my car 2012 Jetta mk6 1.4tsi the car had been acting strange for the past 6 months or so OBD11 were picking up misfires on Cyc 1&4 but not enough count to throw a check engine light so I replaced the spark plugs by myself during movement control order after which the car ran smoothly but OBD11 were still picking up misfires.
      Finally was able to get it to the garage 3 months back they found 2 housing connectors to coils were broken and was replaced they also performed scans and didnt pickup any misfires they also ran a compression test twice and results were perfect. At this point I thought the problem was fixed but after 2 weeks found that my fuel consumption had deteriorated a little so I ran OBD11 again only to find out there were misfires simply baffled so back to the garage this time injector test were done along decarbonizing too still there were misfires at this point I thought it could be my cheap OBD11 I wasn't accurate and so left it.
      Just a week ago the cars power steering failed poped the hood to check if fluids were low or if there were leaks instead I found a wiring harness connected to the power steering ripped the garage confirmed that rats had bitten them got that sorted out and now while I was driving home today car started shuddering like it was going to stall I drove it slowly back home check engine light flashed about 3 times then went off but the EPC light stayed on used the OBD11 and faults registered were P0300. P0301 and P0304. Engine misfiring on cyc 1 & 4.
      Getting the car towed to the garage tmrw hoping those mistifying misfires would be finally sorted out once and for all.

      I have the same issue and Three spark plugs were changed by Audi, ONLY. I was told if the EPC light came back on, to return to the dealership and they would install the other three (yup). I returned another time, and the same Audi dealership mentioned it was the Carbon build up and $2500 repair, as well as Audi didn't cover the repair under warranty (as my Audi was still under warranty). I also asked I didn't understand why they wouldn't replace the 6 spark plugs initially, or replace the other three and was told they would have to lift the engine to do so (which I know is BS), so I took it to another Audi at a later date, in the same state, and was told it was the left camshaft that was damaged, and the repair would cost 5,000. I took it to a third Audi, when I did an oil change, and this Audi dealership, and showed them pictures of the camshaft sent by the second gentleman, he mentioned that if the car was under warranty, it would have covered it. On another note, my friend owns another type of Audi, which did not have that problem, or code, and was also charged $2500 for "carbon build up" repairs. The second Audi dealership, who finally did their job and noticed the damage on the camshaft, mentioned the carbon build up was BS and that I would have wasted "$800".
