- Here's a brief video describing the process on how to fix throttle, transmission, and engine hesitation on VW, Audi, Skoda, and Seat vehicles built starting in the late 1990s equipped with an electronic drive-by-wire throttle. I hope this video helps resolve potential transmission issues in your vehicle, but be advised that this is not a substitute for having a professional technician resolve major internal mechanical issues in your engine or transmission if the vehicle continues to have issues after performing this procedure. Please place any questions or comments related to the video in the section below. I hope you enjoy the video!

i tried this on my Audi A4 B8 (Automatic). I have been experiencing lag when I accelerate. I tried this method as recommeneded. No more lag, car feels like new- brilliant👏
what year sir?
U had lag when pushing only 70 or 100 all way throttle full?
Just did this on my 2014 A7; lower gears would feel almost CVT-like where the transmission was struggling to find the right gear, but now it shifts so much smoother and more consistently. It feels like a new car, thank you!
This method works! Tried it on my 2013 A4 today and now it shifts smoothly. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you!!! Had this same issue with my wife’s 2018 Audi SQ5 and your tip/procedure worked like a charm! I had an appointment with my Audi mechanic in 5 days that I now can happily cancel!
I never comment on anything but this literally transformed my b8.5 avant , was super delayed/laggy taking off from a stop, now acts totally normal /responsive , stoaked!
I drive a 2016 Audi A3. This saved me $3800 as I was preparing for a gearbox overhaul. I really wished I came across this video a lot sooner. But thanks anyway!
If I can ask , what typa issues did you have ? Got a 2015 Audi a3 , my dsg giving me alot of issues …
Thank you very much , it really removed all the hesitations on gear shifting
i had a issue when slowing down my 2016 audi a6 3.0t would downshift super aggressively and this fixed my problem. thank you so much!
I tried this on my A3 2015 after i was having many transmission problems in low gear and it worked wonders. The car is functioning perfectly with smooth shifting. Thank you so much!!
Worked for me, on a 2018 Tiguan 162tsi, from Australia.
Thanks mate.
I have a 2017 Jetta TSI 1.4 and when I first saw this video I was skeptical, but mannnnnnnn this works. Follow the steps in this video and it should work 🥳
Hello. I did it exactly according to your instructions. The car, the transmission goes completely differently than if it were another car. Transfers are easier, no need at all, than before. Thanks for the simple tip👍. Audi A4 b9
I just tried this tip on my friend Audi A3 2014 model .
The car was having jerky start up and after this method the car is working smoothly and the performance and car torque increased and improved significantly..
Thank you very much for this tip
Cheers
I have a 2015 A6 Quattro and it used to hand at 2k rpms and downshift aggressively when going back into 1st gear but now I get now it's buttery smooth. Thank you man!!
I just tried on my Audi A4 b9 2015, gears between 2-5 are now so smooth! Thank you !
After looking at an advert for an Audi A6, the seller had the same problem, so i checked this video out in case i would buy the car. Any way out of curiosity i tried this fix with my 2001 Saab 9-5... not that i was having any problems, but just to try. And to my amazement my Saab is now more responsive and gear changes are hardly felt. Thanks for this video.
Thank you for the tip! I honestly wonder why the manufacturers don't share officially through the manual for example this kind of easy tips. Why should always try to look out and luckily I found your video?
I have a 2005 Volkswagen new Beetle and just wanted to let everyone know that I tried this and it did not work buuuuuut like he suggests I did the 20 second hold while in the on position, kept the on position on, removed my foot from the pedal, then from on just started it with my foot on the brake, switched to drive, pushed the gear shifter over to manual shifting, numbers came up instead of PRNDS, engine light off (it's been on for months now throwing transmission speed sensor code po705 I believe), pushed it back over to normal drive and PRNDS reappeared and it's good to go! No longer throwing a code/check engine light, no longer idling rough, MOTHER EFFING AMAZING!! Thanks for this video, you freaking rock!! 🙌🙌🙌😎
I tried it and worked on my Audi 2004 - I got to see my gear numbers again after reading yours lol thank you smoother and healthier engine.
Was your car switching to newtral while driving before?
Tried this on my recently acquired 2013 S4 and it worked great. Shifting better, more my style. Throttle response improved. More positive engagement when reversing. Thanks! 👍
Works like a charm. Thank you!
bro, my engine used to shake the whole car army idle before and now, the needle is steady and no shaking. Great video dude
I think this worked for, it definitely feels different initially, stiffer pedal and handling on Auto, need to let it learn a bit both hopefully this fixes slipping in low gears. Thank you so much!
Thanks so much this helped me a lot!
Tried this on my 2018 Q5 and it worked. Smoother shift.
Felt the difference while speeding defiantly smoother Thank You.
definitely*
I have a 2018 Audi A4 and it has a rough downshift and I was worried I would have to go to the shop to figure out the problem but glad I found this video and the helpful comments!!!!!
Hat es was gebracht? Habe einen A4 B9 2019 und weiß nicht ob es bei mir funktioniert
tried it in my golf sportwagen...it worked! thanks
Thanks from Portugal. That was a great tip
Tried this on a 7speed dsg 2019 tiguan 2.0 184hp . It made a very noticeable difference. I feel the gearbox is more alive now an it is less jerky on low speeds. Thank you man
@@gad6792 give it a try
Thank u so much i have vw golf mk7 tsi and this helped me fixing it i kept getting transmission warning light even i went to service changing oil and filter❤️
Hallo, wie haben sie nach dem Reset Gas gegeben?
2019 Audi A3. Worked perfectly! Thanks!
Did it on my 2010 Passat CC and it worked wonders. At First the gear Stucked a bit when I was shifting and it was shifting around 2200 U. Now it shifts smooth on around 1700-1800 so thanks for that!🙏🏾
i’m having an issue with my 2010 passat lurching/rough shudders when going 0-5 sadly this didn’t help me
Tried on my A6 C7 3.0 and 2012, surprisingly it works 🎉. God bless you man.
I just bought the same car I was wondering has your car ever went into limp mode just for driving fast?, mine does it as soon as I start flooring it and when I turn it off and on it goes away, I really don’t know what’s wrong anything would help me out bro

2014 sq5 stronic 8spd dsg. I think it’s worked, amazing thanks
Well I did It and the results are promising 😍😍
This really worked magic in my a4 b8 2.0tfsi multitronic, it was no longer driving on D mode but after this reset its so driving smoth on D and charge rate improved on forgged voltmeter(13:7 to 14:2v).thanks a million Times bro..
Just tried this on my q5- its so much smoother now in the lower gears and has lost the jerkiness I was feeling. What a relief- thanks for the hack, I was worried it was going to be worse! Regards
mine hunts a bit off throttle down a hill, otherwise it is smooth as silk driving, in fact I hardly notice it after doing this simple reset- 2009 Q5 2.0T - I have done this every couple years, maybe every 10,000 kms
Would work with 2016 audi s6?
having the same problem with my 2012 audi a4 1.8 T
in reverse its good but in drive im having problems
@@SW34Tjust did it on a 16 A6 it’s good
Works like a charm 🙏🏾
Thank you so much! Helped bc I'm in a remote area and not able to bring it in. And nice to see a Minnesota license plate (where I'm from)
Awesome! I'll give it a try tomorrow. Should I do it on a cold start or after warming up the car by driving a bit before resetting the modules? Thank you
Great my 2019 a4 S tonic reset helped Thanks a lot👌
Thats amazingly work
hey just ried this on my 2015 triptronic se technik a4 and has actualy made a big difference it a lot smoother than it was before changes are hardley felt at all thanks guy any more tips keep em coming
Hey buddy, I just located your video after having my gear shifting wasn't doing anything, not going forward or reverse, period... the transmission was in stall. Now that I just followed your instructions and hope it removed the glitches, I don't have to take it to the dealer knowing they will break the bank. Thank you for the juicy tips. I will keep you posted. 😅😅
so what happened?
Thanks it worked like a charm
Thank you so much for this
Thanks for sharing this tip. Interesting when you say about how the car re-learn the driving style. Sounds like the ECU got some sort of a reset as well?
Dude I have a 2017 VW passat 1.8 tsi, I had problems with my transmission like he states at the beginning of video. So I tried this method and bro it works! My car runs like a brand new transmission
I've a 2015 Audi A6 Premium Plus with 106,000 miles. From a cold start, I've had issues going from first into second gear. Even if the car's been running in the driveway for 15 minutes I encountered the same. The car revs high and then jolts into second gear. After that, the car and transmission are pretty normal. My next door neighbor is a car guy and did some research on the issue and told me the best thing to do was to take it to Audi. Evidently a lot of independent mechanics won't work on Audi's with this issue. I was further told that a transmission replacement could cost between $6,000 and $8,000. Despite this potentially bad news, I was going to take the car in next week. On a lark I tried this hack and am happy to say it worked perfectly. Many thanks !!!
You owe this man a beer or 2
Works on vw tiguan thanks for tip mate 👍 👌 😀 😉 👏 🙌
I just did my a6 2018 it’s work thanks ❤❤❤
Audi A3 40tfsi 2019 wow !!!! it works thanks 🙏
Wow this work perfectly on my Kia car, i notice improvements instantly thank you for the recommendation.
Lies
Why lie..trolls suck
I have vw cc 2013. Seems like worked!
Tried on my 2009 Audi Q5 and it worked great, more responsive and engine is way more " healthy feeling " used to barely be able to accelerate to 60mph but now i can hit 80 with no issues like how i bought the car originally! Thanks a ton!
Are you saying this actually isn’t a joke video?
Trust me, it’s “not a joke video”. My wife’s 2019 Q5 had stuttering issues with the transmission when coming to a stop and also just not shifting smoothly through the gears. I had to do this reset twice and it worked. It drives so smooth and shifts perfectly.

Hi i have audi q7 2016 and everytime i brake to stop it jerk when it get from 5th to 4th gear
Is that how your car was acting
Hey ob4994, It would have this jerking effect when rolling to a complete stop, which sounds like the jerking effect your getting. I did this reset twice on a small road trip and it worked.
This is how I did it;
1.) Shut the car completely off (everything including radio, heat/air, fan and lock the door.
2.) Push the accelerator “completely down” and push the start button once, foot off the brake.
3.) Hold for 30 seconds and push the start button to turn off.
4.) Let your foot slowly off the accelerator and wait for 5 minutes (Do not touch anything inside the car while waiting.
5.) Start the car and drive normal for at least 15-20 minutes before turning off your vehicle.
Again, I did this twice and it worked. I’ve also heard through other drivers it took 3-4 times resetting it for it to take effect. You can do this as many times as it will not hurt the transmission. Good luck!!!
@@dtma5348 Thank you so much i think its reset and stopped i guess but i haven't driven it for long journey yet just 4mile
going to try this today and use the paddles to shift the transmission smoothly. see if it learns that way
This worked to fix my jerky low gear shifting in my 2010 2.5L VW Golf
Good stuff! Hey you should cite where you learned this from so we know how to get the information from the source. Thanks for the help!!
Will this work on 2019 a3’s?
Mine seems to hesitate when I downshift in manual mode and it scares tf out of me but only one time and usually right after I put it in sport then manual 😅
After it does it it works fine so idk what it is
Edit: I tried it first thing in the morning and although it was raining I drove it similar to my drive style and it completely worked and fixed all jerkiness it had especially at low speeds and climbing hills at low speeds as well!
Thanks my guy! I found this at 2am last night and was mad excited to try it 😅
This actually works
I drive a 2019 Audi A6 C8.
Before this video my car would lag and wouldn't be as responsive as when I first purchased it.
After watching this video and following the instructions, gear shifting is much more smoother and the response is much more rapid than it did previously.
If it wasn't for this video I would have swapped my car for a different one. Now I have fallen in love with my car all over again
Thank you so much for this video.
God bless you buddy!
I thought this video was a load of BS but I did it and really worked! I have a 2016 A7 and it was doing exactly what he described, stumbling at low speeds unless I jammed it. Now it’s smooth as ever. Almost thought I bought a lemon until this video
Yes it worked on my 2019 VW Tiguan. Purchased used 4 months ago and this was its first trip around 2 hours long. Car jerked a little and gearbox warning light came up, eventually was able to pull off highway and park car and I went to reverse to straighten up and car was still moving forward. I turned off car and restarted was okay for rest of trip. But then on way home happened again. Tried the reset trick the next day and worked got it home. I will see how it goes all week, drive to work and if issue continues will then take to dealer.
This actually seems to resolve the issue with the transmission refusing to go past the 1st gear.
One of my parents have an Audi A6 C5 and they called me about it refusing to change out of 1st gear and after they did this the issue went away.
It would shift into reverse and 1st gear but it will just redline on the 1st gear without ever changing up to the 2nd gear.
It is too early to say if this fix will last because they tried it today and now it changes through the gears perfectly fine.
Quite surprised that this actually worked.
Definitely worth a try when it costs nothing and requires so little effort.
Did this fix the issue permanently for you?
@@hadimajzoub6104 Both no and yes, the car has a mind of it's own sometimes.
Somedays it works perfectly fine other days it is more stubborn.
The issue with refusing to shift was gone immediately after testing this.
I don't think the car have refused to shift again like it used to do before so maybe it resolved that. I think the gearbox is just slow. They changed out the fluid on the transmisson after I posted my comment and it did not change the situation much.
They also told me that all the gears on the shift indicator lights up at the same time sometimes now which it never did before.
You legend this worked a charm thank you so much. I had a transmission in emergency mode on a Tiguan 2017 and this cleared it.
And after did it came back?
@@Roberto-954 Unfortunately yes. I had to take it back to VW and they replaced some chip in the gearbox which took 8 weeks as it had to be custom made for my car from Germany.
@@outofthefoxootf979 we dont have VW service or something but is it okey if i leave it like that?
@@outofthefoxootf979 ask them for what chip and look online you don’t have to really get it from the dealer you could of gotten it from the manufacturer and cheaper
@@Mm-wf3wx Thankfully VW covered the cost in full for parts and labour as well as a rental car until we got our car back. They said that although our car was out of warranty, they decided to cover all costs as we had been loyal in using a VW service centre throughout the life of the car.
Thanks, my results:
-2018 S6 (4.0T, 7spd dual clutch) more natural feeling shift logic in Auto.
-2015 S3 (2.0T, 6spd dual clutch), smoother takeoff from rest.
Changes on both are incremental, noticeable if you’re paying somewhat close attention. Good way to erase some bad habits the “smart” transmission logic may learn over time.
Thank you!!
Thanks it works 💪🏾
Thanks bud!!
Thanks you Sir .
thanks brother
Thank you!!!
just did this on my audi a3 2018 55k miles. It never game me any problems within the last 3 years until yesterday on the way home from work I received a "audi transmission malfunction you can continue to drive" message. Thank you so much for this technique!!! I did what you said the first time and waited 3 minutes and the light was still on, so I did it again and started the vehicle immediately after and the light came off!!
Hello Lisa,
I have one question. So after waiting 15-30s in kickdown position you immediatly pressed brake and start the car, right?
@@mete5532 after waiting 30 seconds I let go off the kick down position then started the vehicle. Let me just say that worked only for that day. The light and chip malfunction has been still coming on. So what Im doing now is disconnecting the battery, with that it resets all electrical seems to help right now and makes it drivable.

Hi.
I have a q5 that i purchased usesd and when i put the car in reverse, it will want to take off as soon as i let off the break. Only in revrse does this do that. Is this an issue? Will what you showed above possibly fix this? Thanks for your time!

Tried this on a 2015 audi a3 1.8t since the gears were shifting at higher rpm's.
After following the procedure and driving for a while transmission worked smooth again as usual.
But turned on the car next morning and its doing the shifts at high rpm's. Anything else to look for ?
