    If you're seeking a spaciously compact, prestigiously badged premium five-door hatchback, then you're probably thinking diesel power and German badgework. Here's a different way to go, Lexus' improved first generation CT200h petrol/electric hybrid. The original version of this car needed a little perfecting but it's now a far more credible choice that's classy to own, efficient to run and kinder to the environment.

    Here in the US they no longer make this model. I did my research and bought a 2014 CT 200h Fsport with premium items. It has all the upgrades that came on the 2015 here in the US. One owner and 40,000 miles on the car. I LOVE this car. I found this video because I’m hoping to get my youngest son to purchase one also. Fantastic Car! Even though this is an English version most of the information is the same. Thank You.

    I bought the Lexus CT200h based upon this brilliant review, I have had Toyota cara over the last 40 years and this Lexus is the best car I have ever had, thank you for such a good review.

    Really comprehensive, balanced and fair review. I own a CT200h and agree with all you have said, however as my previous car was a Civic, I find the ride of the Lexus to be more than acceptable in comparison.

      The CT is a great car, it is just a little stiffer than I would like. (I own a 2019 model)

    Im also looking at one of these now, from a main dealer with low mileage. Fantastic all round long term car. Paying cash, no finance, a truly remarkable car for the money in terms of reliability, build quality and more importantly its designed purpose. Its not trying to be anything else and no point me comparing it to other cars with different spec and power etc which on YT happens all too often. You see comments from idiots saying “its slow” etc but EVERY car is slow compared to others that are FASTER ! Pointless.

    Great car. Great in snow also. Only issue is my wife testing it's structural integrity against walls and other miscellaneous objects

    I can get up to 47mph before the electric motor kicks in. Obviously you have to be very light on the accelerator pedal but I travel at between 30 and 40mph in electric mode a lot of the time with no problem. How to drive it to get the best economy takes a bit of practice, I suspect reviewers don't have the required time. A great car by the way. The only improvement I would make would be to soften the suspension a little.

    My wife has owned one of these since 2012, with about 26k miles on it.
    It is a terrific car, buy one, the SO CALLED COMPETITORS, BMW and Audi are UGHHHHHHHH.
    I just cannot understand why ANYONE WOULD EVER BUY ONE OF THOSE MONEY PITS.
    Both the BMW and especially AUDI are just about the most UNRELIABLE PILES OF JUNK ON THE MARKET.
    People who buy them are as DUMB as people who buy a Porsche SUV, can anyone please explain why you would buy an SUV made by PORSCHE.
    Any way back to SANITY.
    My wife’s 2012 CT200H is almost perfect, whatever “IMPROVEMENTS” Lexus has developed since 2012 seem to be unnecessary as the 2012 version just SIMPLY WORKS.
    Yes we have only 26k miles on it but it has performed SUPERBLY.
    Oh yes here we go the HANDLING, when reviewers can’t think of ANYTHING sensible to say they go one about HANDLING AND SPRING RATES.
    Oh did I just hear a mention of the gearbox BEING THRASHY, what the hell does that mean.
    Just ignore the frothy garbage about these topics, WHOOPS apparently the steering is VAGUE.
    What the hell is this fool talking about,
    All you need to know is that the CT200H is a great little car, after 9 years it looks TERRIFIC, drives beautifully, is very economical and RELIABLE.
    We have had only ONE PROBLEM, after about 7 years the 12 volt battery died, this battery is fairly expensive because it is an unusual size and seems to be only available from a Lexus dealer, $120 installed.
    The other comments from this reviewer are WORTHLESS, just buy one you will not regret it.
    If you want something that corners on 2 wheels does a slalom to perfection and spends more time at the dealer than at home, BUY A BMW or heaven forbid an AUDI.
    Why would anybody want to do a slalom in a family car.

    I own an older CT (after owning a Prius when they were new and I had to pay to be on a waitlist) and I can tell you one of the reasons I have put off buying a new one is the grill change.

    I have noticed on auto trader that the CT200h after 2017 have higher torque than the models prior to this; around 100lbs/ft torque more. Is this accurate?

    • @AP-kl3tf
      @AP-kl3tf Před 3 lety +2

      No. This isn’t the case. The engine is the same, you pay road tax post 2016 (66) reg models but no change to the engine performance.

    Would rather go for CT200 or Hyundai ioniq?

    • @CarandDrivingCarReviews
      @CarandDrivingCarReviews  Před 3 lety +4

      I would go for the CT200 - better finished and more reliable, however the Hyundai drives slightly better as it has a proper automatic gearbox rather than the belt driven CVT one.

    • @shane6115
      @shane6115 Před 2 lety +7

      @@CarandDrivingCarReviews, Belt driven cvt?? . Technology has moved on fella, no belts in this Ecvt, look it up and you’ll educate yourself on the car your reviewing.

    Strange review. His review of the earlier model, which is largely the same car, is much more positive. He criticises this, improved model so much, I wonder whether he got swept along by mainstream media bias against this 'boring' gem of a car...
