@@Elena-er7zp, I do agree with you. Of course there is a tremendous amount of pressure and competition, the root of it is aging. Even beautiful women start noticing sagging, sinking, or wrinkling. So in order to try to preserve the youthfulness, we get procedures done.

Eva Mendes always had a Raquel Welch or Sophia Loren kind of look. In that some of her features are quite large or square and taken at a glance, it's not a mathematically 'pretty' face. Yet they were all gorgeous and facially voluptuous, sexy women. Lots of hair, tanned skin, healthy looking.
The overfilled cheeks and imobile lip make Eva's jawline and chin appear so projected now - like it's all sliding forward and down. It doesn't even look like filler or fat transfer. Her lower face appears both sharp and swollen at once. It doesn't make sense, at the moment. Whatever is going on detracts from her beautiful eyes and trademark smile.

I am really struggling to understand why her chin and jawline look so different as well (or am I seeing that wrong?) So I'd love a full analysis. I'd also love a video about the topic of 'imperfect' beauty. To me she is so beautiful not DESPITE having some features that are outside of the beauty ideal but BECAUSE of these features. I can't help but suspect a 'cookie cutter' approach to her plastic surgery, e.g. wanting her nose to be shorter/smaller and I also can't help but feel that this approach is misguided for unique (yet stunning) beauty like hers.
Yeah I think everything looks difference bc they are out of balance. I studied painting and when you add a color that’s not harmonious to the work - every other color on the canvas starts looking off. Painters talk about messing up paintings this way - it’s like when a soufflee starts collapsing. It’s a delicate balance.

Poorly done plastic surgery (as compared to well done plastic surgery) can fall into the 'uncanny valley'. The 'uncanny valley' is a where a computer-generated figure or humanoid robot bearing a near-identical resemblance to a human being arouses a sense of unease or revulsion in the person viewing it. There's been a ton of money poured into research on this recently because tech companies want to make the most user liked AI. The biological reason for this is human brains are highly sensitive to how other human's faces 'should' display emotions and expression, because even extremely subtle ways an expression is 'off' spells danger to the lizard parts of our brain (that person is tricking you, run). Back in caveman days, we learned to be very good at reading micro expressions to determine if another human was a real friend or foe (same reason some people get the 'ick' around psychopaths). This response is largely unconscious and hard to articulate because it's one of our most primitive responses, ironically in the same way finding a face 'beautiful' is hard to articulate.
The problem is the difference between 'well done, you look great!' and 'uncanny valley, you make my reptile brain uneasy' is such a THIN THIN line, it's so easy to 'mess up' and then women get severely punished. I have so much empathy for women (and sometimes men) who walk that line, fall into the uncanny valley, and then have to deal with how their face makes people uneasy. So saying, for me personally, Eva's face in the interview had the 'uncanny valley' problem for me and my lizard brain is soothed by hearing Lorry explain what could have set it off in this instance. Thank you 🙂
Yes I agree with this. I've watched a few videos where the uncanny valley effect is discussed.
Actually in the film "A.I." actor Haley Joel Osment really nails some of these expressions and behaviours which have that uncanny effect. The film makeup artists also designed makeup that would add a "fake" feel.
However, I have also seen and read some other stuff which talks about how humans are in fact terrible at gauging things like character, and whether a person is lying or being deceptive, based on just looking at them or interacting with them.
Remember that someone like Ted Bundy was quite well liked and well regarded by many. And he could be very persuasive.
And this is why botox and face lifts are a bad idea, because they diminish or remove the person's ability to make these vital micro-expressions in their interactions with others and, thus, have a negative impact on the quality of those interactions. Facial muscles are supposed to *move* . Nature has always intended for the face to be an instrument of self-expression.
@@ciarakristos111 botox is only "uncanny" if too much is used. It can be done subtly and a lot of people do get it done in a way where most people do not notice. Face lifts actually offers the most natural look of cosmetic surgeries/procedures. It doesnt puff up or distort the face. Its when you get into the realm of buccal fat removal, cheek implants, freezing the whole face with botox, overfilling the lips and face that you start to look weird.

The tip of her nose looks quite a bit shorter, and I really miss how it looked before. Really wish she hadn't changed it!!! It looked so sophisticated in profile and ¾ view. We see a lot more nostril now which I'm not a big fan of personally.
Yes, I loved her original nose. It suited her perfectly and it had a nice length along the bridge and at the tip. Also a better shape at the nose tip. Why did she get rid of it??

Her nostrils are the only thing I see now when looking at her face. Huge! Her plastic surgeon did what a lot of them do. Bridge work but leave out the tip and nostrils. If you get your nose done research frontal view not just profile. Many surgeons aren’t good enough to be able to handle tip plasty.
She has a noticeable hanging columella and retracted alae. There are now techniques to sew that smaller and narrower, rotate the tip slightly instead of cutting cartilage like in the olden days. But you're right, I don't know why they decided to play with the bridge but not adress the tip - perhaps she would end up looking far too different? Tip work makes a drastic difference but this combination of features makes it more harsh-looking and less harmonious IMO. Personally I think she should have left her nose alone. It was a look that suited her face.
Her nostrils have always been like that. If she did had a rhinoplasty maybe she wanted somethin natural and keep her nostrils the way they are.

I honestly think that people who are interested in procedures should fall into one of two categories. 1. People with a highly "flawed" feature (e.g. a nose with a large bump that bothers them) or 2. People who are getting older who want to reclaim SOME of their youthful appearance back. For those who fall into the second camp, I think they really should carefully study photos of themselves when they were younger to identify what is different now and focus on changing those things only.
I think too many people are falling into the "ideal features" trap. Not everyone is meant to have huge cheekbones, big lips, etc. By all means, fix a flawed feature if you truly dislike it, or determine what changes have made you look older now and try to correct some of those via anti-aging procedures. Photos of yourself when you were younger are the best guide for this! But if someone never had huge cheekbones when they were younger, it's not necessarily going to make them look better to suddenly add them as you are aging.
Cosmetic changes need to be made with a great deal of consideration and finesse, and I feel like some of these celebrities have so much money that they pursue too many drastic changes and end up detracting from what made them beautiful in the first place.

Her eyes and mid face look completely different. I’ve always thought she was extremely gorgeous. In "We Own the Night” I just loved her so much.
Watching these videos has taught me what operations I may or may not dabble in. I believe changing the eyes will really make someone unrecognizable. Cheek Fillers aren’t doing what people thought they would so that’s out, too.
A neck lift and Botox, might be the extent of what I’d do. No wrinkles or fine lines whatsoever on the face is unrealistic. We should get out of this mindset.
Her eyes now remind me those of Melania Trump. Cheek fillers make them narrower and give the face somewhat more masculine look.

On the other hand, Eva has always had a strong lower face, which is something she over accentuated with that cosmetic fullness accompanied with the eyebrows that fall lower than the rest of the face that makes it even more noticeable. Lorry- do you think her speech may be off because of improperly sized veneers? By chance I recently watched Eva in a movie she probably made 20+ years ago called Out of Time. She had such naturally full, beautiful lips. It's crazy that she touched them. Even with some age related volume loss, they still would have been very full. Have a look at some clips from that movie. She has always been insanely gorgeous. Plus her nose was one of her best features. This somehow makes me sad. She seems like a lovely person.
