Witch one of the 3 is able to reinstal modules and reprogram modules? I have bimercode and i cant reinstal the rear Pdc module for example.. Replaced it for another and cant make it work..

Hi, I was wondering which app would be better to show additive and multiplicative fuel trim settings as well as Lambda values? I am trying to fix some lean codes so this information would be useful to track, particularly in a graph form.
Hi, as far as I can remember you can see lambda and high/low fuel pressure values in numbers both apps can display it but not as a graph.

Great video explaining the differences between the 3 apps. Concerning the DPF, What level of Ash soot would warrant a forced regen and are there dangers associated with forcing a regen with the apps?

I will be upgrading the Combox hardware from the 2G to 4G combox. I was told I will need to change the VIN number that's coded in the Combox to my car's VIN number. Will this application allow you to make these changes?
Unfortunately these apps cant help you. The modification you want to carry out requires E-SYS software which needs to be used carefully.
so, what do you prefer based on feature and functionalities? bimmerlink or btool?
They're pretty much same apart from their themes. I'm used to bimmertool as it came out a few years before bimmerlink.
hi! thanks for the vid, but i need your guidance as i'm new to the whole coding stuff. can you please tell me which software i need to be able to do the following stuff to my f25:
- check and delete error codes
- view DPF state and force regen
- code some minor personal stuff like disable auto start/stop completely or code-in a rear view camera if i fit an aftermarket one
- update maps
- update the version of head unit software
- reset the oil/filters service interval if i do them myself
- add service entries to the memory of the head unit in case i do some myself
really really appreciate it if you can tell me which software i need to buy, because i have no idea which one can do these. thank you !
Hi, thanks for your comment. Helping each other is the only reason I started this channel, so I'll try to keep it as simple as possible for you.
-check and delete error codes, view dpf state and force regeneration and some service functions like reseting oil or adaptations you can use Bimmerlink or BimmerTool. They're identical with different user interfaces. I personally use both. You can see my dpf regeneration on this video czcams.com/video/TbTNjc6FASU/video.html
Updating maps: you have 2 methods, watch my video on how to do it. czcams.com/video/B2NyZHAypg0/video.html
Update head unit software: for example, if you have iDrive 5 NBT head unit, you can't just upgrade the software to NBT Evo or newer version, because bmw doesn't allow it. Whole head unit hardware need to be replaced which is not recommended since you will lose some functionality due to not matching your car fully. However, there are options like buying an MMI box (like I did) and add many options to your existing head unit. Such as apple car play, android auto, usb video playback, front and rear camera. Add Service entries onto iDrive: there's an easy to use software to update your service history on iDrive, if you give me an email here (not personal mail, can be fake) I will send you the software. Also I have a video about it. czcams.com/video/o4Gw-1JSWt8/video.html
This information should be a good starter for you, as long as you take your time and gain knowledge, it's very easy to do many things on your car without getting tied to dealers and local mechanics.
There's also ista+ Rheingold which is a software used by bmw dealers in servicing. This software is at the top of everything and the best you can use for everything in your bmw, but it requires a lot of research and study to understand and use it properly. This is an excellent video to show the 3 applications. The Engine Oil Level displays a number without units. In my case, 255. I have searched the internet for an explanation of what this number means and cannot find one. I apologize for wasting your time if the answer is obvious, but I am at a loss. Is it 255 cl, 2.55 litres or 25.5%?
I’m not a BMW pro but 255 (or FF in Hex) is the highest number available to an unsigned 8-bit integer for a computer. It might represent 100% in the case of the ECU.
Best way to test it would be to drain a little oil during an oil change and then try to see what number appears (though I’d definitely suggest attempting it without running your engine!)
When I open my exhaust valve with bimmerlink does it stay that way until I change it and take the obd adapter off?
Yes, it stays open until you change it. You can take off your obd adaptor
To add with his answer, there's an active switch on/off function for memory. Make it active so the settings save and retain

Yes, it would show up the error code and you can take action accordingly. Once you fix it, you can also clear the error codes with bimmerlink.

Both apps support BMWs from 2005 onwards, so unfortunately your car won't be working with neither of these apps.

I don't think you can. First you need to scan your car and identify what causes reboot problem. Best option would be to connect to ista, then you'll be able to take action.

I was looking for a way to limit rpm via ecu so the car only can go 30km/h in second gear.
Is there an easy way to accomplish that?

Bmw has a speed limit warning sound if you enable it. Other option is to use it in manual steptronic gear and keep it on M2, so car doesn't change gear.
Would bimmer tool be suitable for clearing a 'sos call system malfunction' error? I have replaced the battery and just need to clear the fault.

In bimmerlink, I noticed a Parking Brake Service Mode. What does that exactly do for the parking brake? Thank you
That function releases the brake shoes when you want to replace the brake discs. Inside the rear brake drums there are two brake shoes and you need to release them before attempting to hammer your old discs to replace 👍
What if the BimmerLink doesn’t show the brake icon that I’m looking for to change the rear brakes? Is there another way to release or press the piston back?
It shows the function on the application no matter what.
This function is for electronic brake systems without hand lever. You can't take off the brake discs without disabling the parking brakes.

Hi, it can only read faults if the component has a sensor. So, the sensor can read the fault to bimmerlink.

Need to reset brake pads service , transmission, spark plug service warnings, bypass front fog light checks, reprogram new tpms and car battery. Which one of these programs can do the job ? Ty for talking the question

@@ojtothemax BimmerLink for service jobs. Shame they had to split this programming so we have to buy both. I bought both but returned the other by calling them and they had no issues giving you a refund .

Which one do you prefer. Bimmercode or protool?
Protool is more like a combination of bimmercode and bimmerlink and focuses on E series.
Bimmercode can only do coding not diagnostics etc. But it works with a wide range of models. So, it's about choosing what suits you the best.
bimmer tool air mass expert value 1300 in my car f10 520d
In the video, the air mass expert gapping 1300 is there a problem with the MAF sensor or the oxygen sensor? In what case is this estimate high?
I'm not too sure about exact values of everything really. They always flacuate when engine is running. BimmerTool has some expected values but I never pay attention to be honest.

Whats the best one for error codes ive a seat belt icon and airbag logo on I need them checked my laptop doesn't work with ista so need one of these whats best to buy as I cant imagine any working and being free
As I mentioned in the video, they're almost same, so either bimmerlink or bimmertool will do the job
just checking mate, did you manage to clear the airbag and seatbelt one beacause thats exactly what im looking at them for. Ive just replaced an airbag, seat and pretensioner and i need the light off. Cheers.

Check your battery safety terminal wire. Small wire on the positive terminal mine had an issue with seatbelt and airbag light and I replaced it, clear code and done
Do all BMW Diesel DPFs have the same life span with ash mass?
Ista+ Rheingold states the life span of dpf as 250000km which is around 155342miles at which the dpf needs to be replaced in order to keep the efficiency at a good level. However, you can just take out your dpf, carry out a good chemical cleaning, reset it and continue using the same dpf. (Steven B. Tuner has a few good videos on CZcams)

Hi, as far as I can remember it tels you the mileage since the last regen.
I don't know what to do, I have a bmw x5 (f15) from 2015 and it has very bad fuel consumption ... between 18mpg and 22mpg (driven in the city) But when I type on google the combined fuel consumption looks totally different (between 41.5mpg and 47mpg) which which is not good at all (the car doesn't seem to have problems and I don't understand why it consumes so much....
Is it petrol or diesel?

Yeh, it sounds a bit bad fuel consumption really. It's a heavy vehicle and driving in city has a higher fuel consumption. First thing I'd do is to clean the MAP and MAF sensors then check the air filter is new or not blocked. Keeping your car serviced is always a good idea and I never belive in the consumption numbers they publish. I have a full service video that shows how to clean those sensors, especially MAP sensor would definitely help.

Hi, as you said there's a short circuit in the ecu. No software can solve it. It needs to be taken out and repaired if possible or replaced and encoded back in the car.

Hi mate I finally got the bimmerlink app today full version £33 I don't seem to be getting as meny tabs as you have ie no permanent errors and no memory errors. Maybe am doing something wrong

Hi, it could be the car model compatibility issue. Have a look at the supported car section in the app. I also can't see some tabs as opposed to 5 series car for ex.

Any voltage below 12.5 is considered low on car batteries.

I would love to but I'm not a mechanic. Most of my Bmw knowledge comes from CZcams and internet forums, so I suggest you do a research on Bmw led light conversion. I'm sure you'll find lots of useful information quickly.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any software for it. We check MOT test certificate for milage reading in the UK.
