    Gary's videos are the most informative on the internet for comprehensive break downs on any transmissions I've ever seen.

    I had a AX4N that had the 13 mm bolt that goes through the valve body tightened at about stripped torque and had a cross leak that beat me up. Had a crack in the worm trails that cracked my head. Replaced the case and all was perfect.
    Your human after all!

    A Gary with too much work is both a blessing and a curse. However, it is your reputation as a quality shop that makes this so. Thanks for sharing Gary. While costly for you, it is a goldmine of learning for the rest of your subscribers as well. Cheers from the land of Oz.

    In the 90s I worked for a place in Brooklyn where they only did 4R70Ws for the cabs. Cheap and fast. That was 90% of their business :lol:. We would do pan drops and filters. Some had like 400K+ miles. Some had bad 1-2 accumulators, that was easy. Don't do any car repair anymore (except as a hobby) but brings back memories :lol:. Could the dowel be drilled out? Heat on aluminum needs caution. Pounding ALWAYS meant a cracked case :lol:

    To remove the dowels buy your self an induction heater do your research on induction heaters there are many sizes and configurations depending on what you want to heat up for your application you need the basic nut and bolt induction heater.just heat the dowel red hot and pull it out without heating the aluminum thats the difference here between an acetylene torch.

      I would replace the oil and filter. No need to go into gearbox if you only have a speed sensor code

    Sorry Gary - not trying to be ignorant, but you know what they say about doing something over and over and expecting a different result. By your own admission, "It's happened before". Try something different if you expect the case to break by pounding! Two methods quickly come to mind. 1) Stand case up on end on a solid surface, put a socket over the dowel as a direct support and wail away - no breakage. 2) The dowel is hollow. Put a piece of all-thread through the hole and draw it out from the front much like pulling a gear no breakage. Also, heat is your friend. Maybe next time.

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  Před 3 lety

      Just got one out with heat and a bolt that fit perfect in the hole to get out the dowel
