Have you ever seen a transmission where you have to let off the gas to change out of first and hold the gas around 2k RPM for it to shift the rest on its own? Then after it warms up you don't have reverse and sometimes it quits pulling when you stop?.i was told otay be the filter so that's what ight start with first. It is in a 2001 expedition 4x4 Eddie Bauer with the 5.4L.
What are the reasons that lead to broken reverse band? I have a Grand Marquis 2009 and it is not acceptable to go back at all Is it because of the delay in changing the transmission oil ? I did not change it until after four years, but I only traveled 40 thousand kilometers
Good Learning Video... i have a Quick question i replace my transmission (4L60e) from a tahoe v8( 2wd(2002) but use a 2002 v8 tahoe awd torque converter...in to my 2002 silverado v6(2wd).. and now the truck wont engage any gear...and before i replace it i use to run ,only the 2 gear was the problem... do i have to reprogram the ecm... thanks...
Awesome video. Same case as my 2003 Ford Expedition. Lost overdrive a year ago then just now the reverse and moves forward on neutral. ATF smells burnt so we changed it including the filter. No change so I guess it is exactly what this video was diagnosed.
2007 F150 4x4 everything was working find put the truck in 4hi to get out of some sand, Reverse slips a little , then no response, O/D off flashing, and reduce power. Get it back on the road shift great through the rest of the gears. No reverse
O/D flashing? = low on transmission fluid, and low or no transmission oil pressure Depending on what type of vehicle you possess, ford explorer ( for example) have tendency to leak transmission fluid out of gasket around transmission pan. And sometimes ( not always) the bolts work themselves lose; and what's causing transmission fluid to leak around, gasket, around the transmission pan. Get those bolts properly adjusted, dont just tightened; those bolts; bolts have to be adjusted accordingly, Change transmission fluid/ filter. And possibly the gasket around the transmission pan. When was the last time you had transmission fluid flushed? Fluid can gung up, fyi
Problem is people get a ford pick up and think man this thing will last forever I don't even have to do maintenance, wrong, even though they are good pick ups ( the best pick ups) they still have to have the same maintenance as any other vehicle. I changed my trans fluid in my 92 mercury with 130k+ miles on it, I don't think it had been changed in at least 100k miles, well to say the least I have no reverse in the car, hoping I can possibly do another fluid change and clean the transmission out and add some lucas oil stop slip to see if it helps but I think I know the what to expect in the end
Hi, I have a Ford territory, all forward gears are ok, reverse is good when cold, when gearbox up to temp ,I loose reverse, next morning when cooled down my reverse is back, is this a simple fix or.? Thanks to y
Brother that was very informative and I appreciate it. I have a question though, I just changed my filter and the fluid because the gasket was shot and leaked periodically and today as I was backing into the driveway there was a loud sound making me think that I backed into another vehicle only for me to get out and realize that there was no other vehicle and I had lost my reverse. My question is do you think that would be a reverse band problem
Same with mine, no warning. As a female that's new to doing my own vehicle repairs like this it is good that there are videos to help me on CZcams. I already knew how to change my tire, do my oil changes, my transmission fluid changes, and even spark plugs. Then recently this no reverse happened.🙄 Did you find out what caused your no reverse and did you get your no reverse problem fixed?
Thanks for this video I have a question if the vehicle doesn't go in reverse is it a sign that it needs a new transmission? Also how much did this repair cost to do?
i have an 04 f150 all of my gears shift fine and shifts into reverse fine. in reverse it creeps back fine but when i apply gas it only reverses slowly with some resistance and sometimes will put it in failsafe mode and scanner says p0720 p0722
I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.4 L 6 cylinders, I am the second owner and this car it has being with me since 1998 and never a major problem, the other day went to back up and nothing happened, I tried and I tried then put the shifter between the parking position and the reverse position and it works, what do you think this is? Thanks, JD
What if the car has reverse an works here an there what issue would that be same problem or others but car still drives an runs.Asking for a friend what that problem could be no one could figure it out for her.
Great video and very informative. Gettin ready to do my 01 f150 with no reverse. I do have a question for you though, in a 04 explorer awd auto reverse only works if you put it in 4 low. What is that caused from? I've since gotten rid of explorer but still curious as to what was the problem. Anyway thanks for your videos and keep em comin
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 cool thanks for the info. We decided to get rid of before it became a bigger problem than it already became. I'm gettin ready to pull the transmission and transfer case out of my 01 f150 and put a different transmission in it. I plan on tearing into the 9neim taking out to see what exactly happened and I'll probably try my hand at rebuilding it. Never done one before but the options around central Illinois is limited for transmission shops. Thanks for your videos and the reply.
@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 already got the tools. I'll be sure to keep it clean for sure. I've done a couple C4's with my uncle 35 yrs ago. I'm fairly mechanically inclined so I'm just working up the confidence to tear it down. I'm almost done with the swap now. I started on it about 730 this morning
Maybe you can help me. 08 F150, my reverse does engage and will move, albeit very slowly. And if I put it into 4 low it will backup quite a bit faster. Giving it gas does nothing.
I have same problem. Can you go more into detail. Than just have you pulled pan. Is it always band or could it be possible that it’s just rotted bad rings. Which I have seen in other videos
You’re costing the customer a ton of extra money with all your diagnosis. And your full of crap that you’ve seen any correlation between the ABS a no reverse situation. Just fix the symptom: NO REVERSE. You don’t need to pull the pan!! Pulling the pan will tell you nothing about the reverse band. You’re just billing for unnecessary labor!! It’s the reverse band!! It’s / common issue with that transmission. The way you were taught is too bill as many hours as possible and under the guise of being thorough! This is why mechanics get a bad reputation!!

Great information! Thank you. This video is going to be a huge help to me when I go to diagnose a no reverse issue in my 05 F150.
That low line pressure break down was great. Subscribed. Wish all teachers did that. Respect
Omg! Love everything most definitely i can do this on my own. I really like when you guys describe everything in detail. ❤
This is a great video. Great description and details
Real good thorough video, thanks for making it!
Awesome video. Hard to find detailed videos like this.
having no reverse issues with my 02 ford escape xlt limited.

yeah mechanics defiantly dont have to do this I am glad they do thou gives avg joes the confidence they need to do it them self

Low band or direct clutch more often then not it was a low band issue
