    You were lucky with the soft weather, watch ‘ Uma ‘ , they had an arduous crossing, nice to see amateurs at work keep it up

    • @SailingZephyr
      @SailingZephyr  Před 4 lety +1

      Cheers David. I caught a bit of Uma's crossing. They did leave very late in the season and from pretty far north. So bad weather was always going to be possible. We left during the typical May/June window for a West/East crossing. Our biggest concern was always going to be getting stuck in the morphing Azores high. Which we did...and really badly. But for a fist crossing I was pretty happy overall. Hopefully less motoring next time.

      Sounds less like luck an more like proper planning an playing the % game to their favor....that’s how I chose to see it.... love it when a plan comes together !!

    I've noticed one thing about your sailing, the starboard helm seems to be the favorite (right hand drivers)? ;-)
    If the Dolphins don't sing about fish and fly into space, you're ok. ;-D

    • @SailingZephyr
      @SailingZephyr  Před 4 lety

      The auto pilot control is on the Starboard side. So we tend to favor that side.

    Gradually making my way through your videos and although much late to the channel felt obliged to acknowledge your achievement in successfully completing one of the holy grails of sailing - an Atlantic Ocean crossing! Even poor old RMS Titanic stumbled at the first hurdle so well done guys & gal. A couple of observations - as good as the scenery is the people are what make for an enjoyable experience, both there and here riding along. Was pleased to see Marcus front the camera, wasn't aware he is a Spanish speaker so obviously a bit reticent to appear and the translation dubbing was great. The editing is progressing nicely and James is right to be pleased with 'Zephyr II'. A well maintained & prepared Beneteau gets the result. Well done and much enjoyed.

    Hi just fond your V-log and we are looking to the same trip - on a catamaran- and we would like to understand when you left and where from and any route info you have... thanks so much

    • @SailingZephyr
      @SailingZephyr  Před 3 lety

      Hi David, yeah u guys will love it! Such a great sail and on a catamaran! Will be even better! We left first week of June and took a direct route from st. Maarten to the Azores, but lots of sailors do stop in Bermuda too, so if you have time def breaks it up a little. For us it took about 22 days but we got stuck in the Azores high....with no wind whatsoever! When are u guys planning on leaving? Where is ur catamaran currently sitting? If you want any more details/route planning/weather routing send us an email and we will get back to u! Fair winds and following seas 😁😁 ⛵️

    How many gallons (liters) of fuel did you use crossing “the pond”?

    • @SailingZephyr
      @SailingZephyr  Před 3 lety

      More than we would have liked. About 300 litres. We had 5 days of no wind. 😂

    These folks really don't know what they are doing. They don't know what big waves are. Jeepers creepers. Presenting themselves as people who actually have advice to give. A clear demonstration that luck is a factor as people without skill launch across seas. Step. Away. From. The. Boat.

      Hi Dave - we appreciate your feedback. However, we encourage you to check out our bio and first video. We are very humble and don’t assume to know anything about sailing. It’s a learning process still for us. We also didn’t blindly leap across the Atlantic. We did a tremendous amount of prep and equiped appropriately to insure as much risk was mitigated. We also had a lot of support from land and at sea as we went. With regards to big waves, unfortunately when recording them with our camera it doesn’t do them justice. They always appear much smaller and is probably down to our learning to use cameras as well. We hope you still enjoyed our crossing. All the best. James & Nat.

      @@SailingZephyr I'm an offshore delivery skipper. I know about wave height and cameras. I also know that "gusting to 25 knots" is not windy. I know that 1-2 m waves offshore are not big. Y'all are just another batch of newbies making videos and begging for money on Patreon. You're making judgments and espousing conclusions without the expertise you imply. I really hope you don't hurt yourselves but that is on you. Posting your videos and asking for money risks other people who don't know better than to think "it's on the Internet it must be right."
