    Sailing= the ability to resist pain for long periods while facing the threat of downing at any second or quietly sailing into the most picturesque anchorage you have ever experienced, enjoying the sunset, and humbly accepting the accolades from your sailing partner. Wish I had not become ill.

    I’ve suddenly stumbled onto these sailing channels and am so mesmerized it’s got me questioning my retirement (which isn’t far off). I don’t think I’d ever have the sack to do this ocean crossing solo stuff though. Respect to those of you who do. I can see myself coastal cruising though, as long as I have a port to duck in when whatever shit hits the fan.

    You Frenchmen are good sailors. Some 20 years ago i was on a fishing vessel 250nm SW of Reykjanes peninsula Iceland in a shitty autumn storm with winds about 30ms and waves over 10 meter and we see another ship on the radar some miles off. Turned out to be about 35 foot sailboat and we called them on the radio asking if they were doing ok and this raspy voice replied in English with a strong French accent " Yes yes all is ok. Are you ok?" we could not stop laughing as we were on a 3500ton ship:P

    I sailed from Bermuda to UK last sommer. We had 2 big depressions hit us during the trip. Beaufort 9 was the worst.

You kept a very brave face for your camera on this passage, only someone who has been alone on an ocean in such conditions would know how frightening it can be to have the prospect of being rolled or pitchpoled at any moment. Sailing in Iceland frenchy is better of without sprayhood as they restrict deck movement working back aft and restrict grab points. They do reduce wind chill i admit but safety ist as a singlehander i know

    If the life jacket felt that it was time to inflate, then it was time to inflate. I'd like a little side video of the life jacket's personal experience through all of this as it battled the seas upon your shoulders. :D

    A la minute 11''35, il conviendrait d'avoir un bas étai pour mettre une trinquette ou juste un peu de GNE et rentrer la GV au portant... c'est mieux pour le pilote auto.
    Un navik ne serait pas de trop ... Bon vent pour la suite.

      J'ai un était largable, avec 3 petites voiles d'avant, mais pendant cette traversée, ma voile moyenne était morte malheureusement... Sinon c'est sur que ca aurait été plus adapte.
      Et pour le régulateur d'allure je suis d'accord, j'ai longtemps hésité, mais j'ai finalement choisi d'opter pour un pilote auto, pour libérer le tableau arrière et mettre un plateforme, bien pratique sur un petit bateau comme ca. Au final le pilot assure bien et je suis content de mon choix

    • @brunof.dhivaou3394
      @brunof.dhivaou3394 Před 6 lety +2

      Le pilote c'est bien le long des cotes (Il ne suit pas le vent !). Au large, le régulateur n'a pas besoin d'énergie, facilement réparable, et tiendra le mauvais temps beaucoup plus longtemps qu'un pilote...
      Par ailleurs, sur un petit bateau, il est dommage de mettre du poids dans les hauts avec un portique et des panneaux. On détériore la stabilité du bateau d'autant que l'architecte ne l'a pas prévu. C'est là aussi particulièrement dommage dans le mauvais temps !
      A cela, il faut ajouter le fardage important (surtout dans le mauvais temps - et je me pose la question pour moi même)
