Viareggio is part of an area called ‘The Versilia’. It is widely known and popular for its fashionable resorts along its Riviera and attracts visitors with its active nightlife during the summer. The beach in Versilia is very wide and long and stretches from Forte dei Marmi to Viareggio.

About Us:
When we were in our early 20s, chasing our own dreams of living in Europe, we met one night at a pub in Florence...11 months later, we were married! Having been together for 4 years now, we have lived & worked on 3 different continents & even on a cruise ship!
We moved back to Italy to live out one of our biggest dreams - to pull off the Ultimate Italian Road Trip, travelling to all 20 regions of Italy! These are the lidos that are nearer to the station... There's also a whole other set of lidos on the other side of the town in which the beach (free or not) is waay wider.. most of the people who live in Viareggio go there😁

I was born in Pietrasanta, 1941, difficult times, the scars of the war though were deep, we manage to get up and start again, but we will never forget the horror of the war, because forgetting is forgetting our forfathers and our history in good and sad times. Great video. The mystery of the Portuguese flag: Roberto, one of the owners of Bagno Irene, is married to a Portuguese. Their son helps as lifeguard in the lido, but most of the times he plays volley in the water with his friends.😆

You should try visiting the south coast of Tuscany!!!! It's the best.
Or, if you want to find more "vibe" at the "Bagni" or "Lidos" you should go from Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening.
I am going on a cruise later this year and when we stop in La Spezia Viareggio is one of our options. I think I will give it a try.

Hahaha, I am in Split, Croatia, this week and had their cuttlefish with broad beans for dinner at the Uje oil bar. First time ever. Pretty good. Yes, that's a cuttlefish! Great video - Thanks. We are off to Pisa for a few days in a couple of weeks, and plan a beach day... Just wow 😬on the price of 2 x sun beds and an umbrella through... We just came back from Cyprus and its 7:50 Euro for 2 x beds and an umbrella for the day... and that's across the whole country, with the price set by the government.

Come to Sardinia! Plenty of free beaches, still, thanks God!
You have to go more south on the tuscany coast to find bigger free beaches, but of course viareggio is a nice place, check also Baratti and everything southern than Piombino/Baratti for find wilderness on the seaside. Castagneto Carducci for the best wine still at the sea (little bit expensive after covid)

30 years ago water was crystal clear like in Sicily but then pollution ruined it , Viareggio has also the most important shipyard in the world

If you think that viareggio have the best coast of tuscany is because youre never been on romito coast, calafuria, calignaia, castel sonnino etc etc. you got scammed, next time visit livorno coast ;)

Maybe because nobody goes to Viareggio. The water is terrible, dirty, and full of medusas. Just a trap for tourist or people who just want to have a sunbath.

the best beaches are in Maremma though, South of Tuscany.
