- Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide © 2016 | Siena, once a proud and independent city-state, retains its confidence and unique traditions. We'll enjoy a front-row seat at its wild horse race - the venerable Palio - and marvel at cultural treasures from the days when it rivaled Florence for leadership of Tuscany. Then we'll head into wine country for a little "dolce vita" under the Tuscan sun. #ricksteves #ricksteveseurope #tuscany

Isn't that interesting that a horse with NO jokey came in third? I love love Rick's video tours, we watch them as a family and dream big of our own adventures! Keep on traveling, Rick!!!!!
My sister, an artist, and I were supposed to go to Italy, then into Austria and Germany, this past May, 2020.
We had planned the trip for 2 years.
Sigh.
Thank you, Rick Steves- I now come home from a busy day at my front-line job, brew myself a hot cuppa and sit and "travel" with you.
My friend and I had been planning a trip for a year as well. Not only that, but we had it boooked. Hopefully we can all go sometime in the future.
Did you make it? Or did you rebook? I hope you and your sister eventually make it!!
I’m Scottish, from Glasgow, and I live in Siena. Everything that he said is correct, no exaggeration. The city is stunning- you have to experience it to really feel the historic ambiance and beauty. The food that you see in the video is what we eat every day, without exception. Poor quality wine doesn’t exist, and vino is available from 3 euros per bottle (and upwards). Oh, and the women are beautiful angels- I married one....
Cyberswally just an amazing episode of Siena.
What is the name of the taverna that he goes to with the wine and cheese cellar?
Oh lucky you. Edinburgh is still 9 degree
Taverna di San Giuseppe, via Giovanni Dupre’ 132, Siena.
Rula Sha will give me the right OK Google give me the documentary on the Germany Google OK Google give me Rick Steves documentary on Germany
Your travel series in Italy is a gem for me during this quarantine period! Love Italy!!! Can' wait for the borders to open!!! All the wine, the food, the romantic cobblestone streets!!! Thank you!!!
The borders will never reopen.
@@francescobonfiglio9142 I'm here in Italy, to report that Italy is now open.
This my favorite travel show. Don't stop traveling, Rick.
I agree! Absolute favorite traveling channel on CZcams. Though if you know of any more good channels I'd love to hear about them.
Being in Siena makes me feel like a time traveler in ancient times, really love this city, and Italy is really a lovely and charming country.
I'm an Italian, I'm a great explorer and a tourist. I do not follow routes for tourists but the real life of the places. I congratulate you on siena and Tuscany as they really are. I travel all over Europe but at the end the most beautiful place in the world is at home ... true Italy.
2nd most beautiful at home, Munich ;)
Can't get enough of Rick Steves!
Watching and listening to Rick Steves never gets old. Like Bob Ross, I live happily through them. Thank you for your knowledge, humor, and love for sharing travels.

Siena is very charm city, I’ve been there once and one day only, and remember that it’s square which stunned me, such beautiful it is.
Italian culture are very charming...
I really liked the transition between 09.30 when the bird is passing by and in 09.31 another bird is passing by too! I now that it was not intentional or anything but it was funny to see it
Once again, another great show. Rick proves that entertainment and education are not mutually exclusive.
I want to travel to Siena because my name is Sienna and it looks lovely there
I've been to Rome, but Tuscany is my most desired place to go. As if a sting is pulling on my heart. I love the way Rick shows this wonderful place.
Siena is a joy! I went there for three summers as a participant of a music festival and lived there for one year. It totally changes character when the summer tourists leave, but still it is so beautiful. A glorious place!
Im a big Rick Steves fan. I love his presentations. Its done with elegance and sophistication. He truly knows his stuff. This video is my personal favorite and I’ve watched it several times and adore it. I’d love to discover Tuscany’s beauty for myself
Quel luxe opulent, Siena et Tuscany ! Architecture, gastronomie, art........

It's really hard to live better than the Italian way of life.

As always, another interesting video from Rick, feels like I was walking in Siena. You are best at what you do Rick!!!
Amazing Tuscany
Dyslexics enjoy the down to earth broadcasts of Steve Ricks just the same.
I suggest to take a visit to the nearby val di Chiana it is another fantastic place where u can experience the tuscan’s lifestyle and also have memorable landscapes
What a lovely country and a wonderful video to presents it, I could almost feel the warmth of Tuscany and inspired by Italy's rich culture and traditions. Wish I have the time and money to experience it with my family first-hand!
This really sets me in the mood for my visit to Italy in 2 months. I have been brushing up my Italian and this video highlights the beauty of Tuscan architecture, art, food and wine. Our home in Silicon Valley California is modeled after an Italian Villa - Villa Medici - so it is essential that we stay closely in touch with Italy to give our home even more authentic features. Thanks Rick.
I love this city!
Rick gives an intimate and insightful look at the Tuscan way of life. Used some of these for my own trip to Tuscany!

What an art!! 💘
Really enjoy these travelogues .... I remember well visiting Siena and even did an informal DJ gig in a bar on the Piazza del Campo... it rained continually throughout the entire trip in the middle of may & only once did the sun come out for any length of time ( whilst having a beer in the Piazza!) ....
Saltarello in the background is very fitting!
Wonderful stuff. Great guide!! Never get a chance.
Fabulous tour!
Thank you for interesting traveling.

Great Sir
The my city is wonderful... W Siena w il palio... 😍😍😍😍😊
Bravo!
Informative Excellent presentation
The Island of Dr. Moreau - 1996 film!? Yet, thanks for the "passeggiata"!
I have traveled from one end of the Italian mainland to the other; from Venice and Milan to Bari and Brindisi. Of all the great Italian cities I have visited, Siena is my favorite. Sadly, I wasn't there to see a palio but it was like walking through a living museum. The local history, culture and cuisine are all terrific. If I could live anywhere in Italy, this would be the place!
I miss you Rick
been there!

My favorite Crayola color was Burnt Sienna.
Excellent video. What is the name of this last winery you visited? My husband and I would love to tour it. Thanks!
love you
Interesting comment about planting Cypress trees to stop soil erosion.
The roots of a Cypress tree only go down and do not spread out from the tree.
If you want to stop soil erosion, the Cypress is the last tree you would choose.
I spent many of days and night in seina and sleep in seina Square and park and road when I migrant in Italy illegal.that time I don't know about seina history and culture ..lol
But now in this pandemic time of Corona there was not so much public in street of seina

SO confused! We have a day that we can spend in Siena, Montepulciano or Montalcino, any recommendations?
So long story short, Siena's cathedral is the equivalent of the clapped out Honda with Supreme and Versace stickers holding the bumper on while Florence is the Ferrari they were trying to beat.
Um.... yeah I guess so.
What is the name of that taverna with the underground wine cellar that once was a tomb?
3:29 which famous song is this?
😮
What was the name of the restaurant in Siena?
Can anyone tell me, How many years it would take to completely travel Europe like Rick?
So give me this feedback. On a 2 week trip from the US, does it make sense to fly into Venice...train down to Florence, Rome, and fly back home from Rome?
Yes, it makes sense.
