- It had been since August last year since i played Elden Ring and the DLC Trailer got me straight back into making a character to prepare for Shadow of the Erdtree. This is my raw first reaction and some things that i noticed along with chat as we carefully played back the scenes. I’ve watched the trailer over and over but didn’t realize until just now how good the music is. That drop in the beginning when you first see the pc riding torrent is stellar. Anticipating the sound track almost as much as the game.
For real it already sounds better than any soundtrack from the base game from what I can remember

Miyazaki said its going to be the size of limgrave and the peninsula and combination of large-small legacy dungeons. Also 8 new weapon archetypes also 10+ boss

@@toxicspiderman3815Yes Miyazaki confirmed this in an interview after the trailer released. He did say size of Limgrave, but perhaps more volume and possibly a dark Souls type of world design in the interior, as far as interconnectedness. I so hope that is the case, we get the best of both worlds, with open world and Dark Souls like feel with the dungeons and legacy dungeons. Regardless, Miyazaki is known for under-selling and over-delivering, so in him we trust....🙂🙂🙂
The sound track is magnificent!
I highly recommend reading the translations of the interviews recently with Miyazaki, so much interesting info there about the world, story, and characters
My first thought was that the red-haired boss guy (who I later found out was named Messmer the Impaler) with the snake was Miquella, too. Judging by the hand, I thought it was a dead giveaway. Then of course I remember the image of Miquella with the gold hair and braids, and then I was convinced that it I was incorrect at first and who we see at the end is Miquella. Finally, I think I've settled on my speculation - that both are technically correct. In the Lands Between, the Erdtree bifurcated just about everyone and everything, meaning they all have "alter-egos". So my guess is that Messmer and Miquella are the same. This would be really interesting, as Messmer comes off as being chaotic and destructive while Miquella is liked & revered by all. Finkle is Einhorn.
When I saw the lion boss, I immediately thought of the misshaped dog from Full Metal Alchemist, both having those dead white eyes and put together with human parts, or as you say in Elden Ring, grafted.
It looks like it will be fun! I believe this new character will be a third child of Marika and Radagon; like a brother of Miquella and Malenia.
Would fit with the whole butterfly thing:-
Aeonian Butterfly -> Malenia (Goddess of Rot)
Nascent Butterfly -> Miquella (who has eternal youth)
Smoldering Butterfly -> Messmer (who wields flame)
Going to be some great new content to play during the summer

I think the guy in the painting is the boss pulling the sword out of his body. They have the same cloak and center medallion.

If Mohg's cutscene shows him draining from Miquella's atrophied hand, I wonder if it could be possible that Mohg (or the Formess Mother) has some influence in the DLC as well.
The more I see this trailer, the more convinced I am that Messmer is Miquella.

the thing I wouldn't like about Miquella being the entry point is that it would force console players to play up to Consecrated Snowfield or buy an online membership to do Varre's quest. Considering how ridiculously early most other Fromsoft dlcs are accessible, idk if they do sth like that
you can get to mohgs realm as early as altus plateau, i recommend looking it up!
an npc was added a while ago that made it possible to complete varre's quest offline. just go to some ruins in altus, touch the red summon sign, defeat the npc, then you receive the lord of blood's favor by talking to varre again. and since you only need to pick up the two medallions to enter altus, you can get access mohg's palace really early.
though you still need to defeat mohg in order to enter lol
