    The load bank allows the locomotive to be run up to full power without turning a wheel. It simulates the load a heavy train would place on the engine, generator and load regulator. Engine horsepower output can be tested as well as generator output. The load bank is basically a giant electrical resistor simulating the draw from the traction motors.

      They simulate load on the loco without it actually having to move
