For anyone struggling, here is what I did! (My milk cake came out perfectly doing this)
1 - Put 200 ml of milk, 3 tablespoons of sugar and a pinch of salt (a quarter teaspoon works too) in a saucepan.
2 - Stir milk until sugar and salt are dissolved.
3 - Add 2 tablespoons of starch (IF YOU USE CORN STARCH ONLY DO 1 1/2 ) and stir until mostly dissolved. This part may be trial and error, you may need to add more or less depending on how your mixture turns out.
5 - For extra flavor, add a half teaspoon of extract. I used vanilla, but you can use any kind. BE CAREFUL though! A little too much extract can ruin a recipe.
6 - Now, turn on the heat. I recommend a medium temperature so it thickens faster. If it starts bubbling or steaming, turn down your heat.
7 - Keep stirring until it thickens up to a pudding texture.
8 - Once thickened up, pour your mixture into a small-medium mug that is either sprayed with cooking spray or has melted butter in it, this will allow it to pop out easier later. Before refrigerating, lightly tap your mug on the floor to make sure there is no air bubbles in it.
9 - Put your mixture in the fridge for 3 hours.
10 - After 3 hours, touch your pudding to make sure it feels good. If it is still very mushy you should leave it longer.
If it feels ready, hold it upside-down over a plate or your hand and hit the bottom. The cake should fall easily if you buttered/sprayed the mug well enough.
I really hope this helps everyone!!

I'm going to try this tomorrow but with earl grey infused milk since i dont like the taste of plain milk haha
Edit: it's delicious!! If you want to make a tea flavoured version here's how i infused the milk:
I used 4 teabags (i like a strong earl grey flavour, you can use less if you want a more subtle flavour), put them in the milk and heated it on the stove until it started to simmer, then i took it off the heat and let it steep. you need to let it completely cool down to room temp before adding the starch (i used cornstarch) but you can add the sugar and salt while it's still warm to help them dissolve. then followed the recipe as normal

Now 30 mins later, my pudding is in the fridge waiting. Im so excited! I added a graham crust tho to add a little uniqueness. Nevertheless I think its gonna come out well!
    Love this vid!

Looks so yummy! I didn't know it's possible to make milk pudding so stiff it can stay intact outside a serving bowl. I usually panic when any lump is forming in it - I'll have to try this version!

Wow, this is awesome. I tried it out with three times the amount (and added some vanilla sugar extra and cocoa powder and cornstarch instead of potatostarch). Stupid as sh** like I naturally am I turned on the heat from the beginning, but it still worked out in the end. Just be patient. In my opinion it tastes a lot better while it‘s hot
