- Wonderkid Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa takes the Play Magnus Champions Challenge on Day 4 of the Oslo Esports Cup 2022.
Pragg will have 2 minutes on the clock. The goal is to beat 10-year-old Magnus Carlsen in as few moves as possible, or if you're lost, to last as many moves as possible!
The 16-year-old Indian prodigy has beaten real-life Magnus in the past, most famously at the Airthings Masters back in February. The new of the historic win reverberated around the world, and even the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was moved to congratulate the youngster on Twitter.
But can Pragg beat Magnus Carlsen at age 10 on the Play Magnus app? Watch to find out!

I love his adolescent sweet face, the rounded nose, and mainly his neat heart. First place in cuteness for Pragg
i thot he was not handsome but reading u i find that i am conditioned to judge beauty :)
Did that neat little heart beat???

"Back then I was playing for tactics". You know you're maturing as a chess player when you start prioritizing positional chess over tricks.

Too much distractions for Pragg, still he was too good.
Magnus 10's engine was as good as Magnus himself.
Magnus himself is in whole another lvl bruhh this 10 age engine is child's play for him.
The problem is computer no need to waiting to calculate, usually when its blitz game, the opponent are uman, and they will take some time to think , and we can use that time to think also. But the computer is just like calculator they no need to wait to calculate , its just very unfair with the short time limit😂

Damn, Kaja sure does do a great job. She is so articulate, barely fumbles, knows when to talk and what to ask. Brilliant professional. Makes the players comfortable and drives the whole event so comfortably. I've seen kids make fun of her on live streams for not knowing chess stuff, but that's not her job. Her job is to bridge the gap between regular people and the chess experts in commentary, and she does it very very well.
EXACT OPPOSITE OF FROSK
Talking during play can be very frustrating though. Players have 2 minutes and having someone ask questions mid match doesn’t help.
@@dannytran1587 fair point. Don't disagree. But it's a casual promotion game. The people are here for the GMs, not the match. So keeping the GMs talking and engaged is important from the production stand point. It's her job.
u see Dr.Tenma
@@mark85gmballerbattleship39 nah, didn't see him after escaping the hospital room. Soon will.
Felt like they dont want him to win.
Not a fair test, because a real life Magnus at 10 years old wouldn’t be playing at that speed. He gets to operate at computer speed, while his challenger has to operate at human speed.
That's why it's age 10....
Very happy and proud of this new chess genius. Thousand best wishes to this wonderful, modest young man from India.
He is a future world champion...Might be By 2030!
Today he can win Champion and be Champion ✨

Lets go Praggu, love your games and keep it up😄😃🙂
do you realize that he's playing with an engine while everyone pretend it's Magnus himself, right?
I feel that with no pre moves this challenge is way to hard. The app seems kinda slow
Tenho o máximo respeito pelo Praggnanandhaa.
Joga bonito demais.
She is disturbing pragga by continuous speaking with loud.
are you telling me magnus can play with that kind of accuracy in a 2 minute game when he was 10?? do people believe that!
No obviously not. All these grandmasters would thrash magnus at 10 in 2 minutes. But it's an engine and that's the whole challenge. On top of that it is a promotion for their app. You can't expect it to be an hour long.
@@johanliebert5781 I have always said it and i say it again, it is hard to program an engine play like a human. this whole app thing is stockfish in disguise that blunders after n number of moves. the higher the age of magnus the less the blunder rate. They don't even make it try to spend some time when it believes the position complex. that would have been human like to the least.
@@smaklilu90 "stockfish disguised as human". Uhhh that's just common knowledge. Why are you acting like it's some revelation?
@@johanliebert5781 it is not common knowledge. How do you make an engine weaker. What are the programing approaches. Enlighten me!?? If u know better
@@smaklilu90 You are just going on off on a tangent. What I simply said is that it is made specifically to be challenging otherwise all the GMs would be thrashing it. Why do you think the time control is 2+0? They are making it harder. Your whole criticism is invalid from the get go because it is meant to be a challenge to the GMs not a cakewalk. They are making it harder on purpose.
If prag cant beat the 10 yr old menance
Then how can i even try 😭😭
Just don't put yourself on a 2 minute timer like this challenge lol
Engines are extremely hard to beat on low time, but Magnus 10 is beatable if you go slow and learn from each game. I've lost a couple recently but had some winning positions that I messed up that I found later when I analyzed them after. It's not really about winning or losing as much as it is about learning from your games :)
You are the best magnus I really like the way you move the pieces on the board you are extremely sharp. I'm from Peru
this kid praggu has some fast moving skill...I hope one day he'll become a candidate master, if tries hard he may also become a IM...Best of luck for future kid!

You would have won the game but for interaption
That app is obviously not adjusted for time, there’s no way Magnus 10 would beat all those super gms in bullet
The app is also not adjusted to play like a human. It is a machine and plays like a machine.
The least they could have done is not distract him.. non stop with the questions
Exactly!
Pragg you are a best player 👏
Dear PRAAG dont fall in TRAP
Dont reveal tooo much. Ur style was is and will be good.
No distraction No exposture No talks :-))))
Pragg*
Lmao, everyone know chess will eventually understand their opponent's playstyle, like for example Karpov for his slow but strong piece development
Reveal everything and confuse your opponent
Is Simon still the only GM that has won first time ? Interesting he seems to play so well against computers, he also had a very good score against komodo in the man v machine matches, best in the tournament if I remember correctly. Somehow he psychs himself out with humans
Liem Le won this computer too
Praag pls say to journalist" i m tired i need break and i m only 16 teens"
Magnus even dont talk to any
one wenn he is tired
If they would have stopped talking during the game, is fairly likely that he was able to win.
Dont mess with 10 year old magnus beast
I would've loved to see him play against age 20 on the app and without time limit just explaining his thought process instead of rushing through it while answering random stuff. still good to see more about pragg tho
10-years-old Magnus is relentless with no mercy or any intend to defend the dignity of its opponent.
there is a problem in this magnus app that normally there isn't clock.if it is clock.it will be the best training program I think
1 year later they play the finals of FIDE WORLD CUP 2023
Genius
They really should improve the app design and functionality.
Isn't it a disturbance when you guys talk to him while he is trying to play?
Best of the best kak 🇮🇩

Magnus making some strange decisions indeed. It's almost as if it's not Magnus at all but just a computer programmed to not play perfectly and make occational mistakes.
I bet you're fun at parties
Unfortunately that's how PCs "dumb down" with the exception of some programs like the experimental Maia at LiChess. Perfect play with blunders thrown in to make the program weaker.
Maybe this program simulates properly Magnus play, but surely not according to that fast time control. Or at least "he" doesn't have to worry about the clock as only his opponents have limited bullet time control making it big disadvantage for the players
@@Av-uv6xu Nope. The program simply makes random mistakes so that, on average, the program plays with the same Elo as Magnus did when he was 10 years old. Nothing more fancy than that. That's probably why in the Prag game it sac'd the piece for a couple of pawns, it was exactly this kind of random mistake. A lame program but not uncommon with last generation programs. The next gen AI type programs are more realistic for human play.
@@Av-uv6xu There is no way a program can simulate the way a person plays. You csn try to add some stylistic traits like preferred openings, whether they play sharp or solid chess and so on. But at the end of the day it's just a computer program that will not play all the best moves.
Did anyone else notice that they seem to have nerfed the app big time recently? Age 9 used to destroy me like 999 times out of 1000. Now it blunders pieces within the first 10 moves.
6:39 why not Bb7?
Please say e-file, c-file, etc. Using "line" sounds so strange.
Praggnanandhaa 🎉🎉🎉
duh !
2 mins! Prag definitely could have beaten Magnus 10 there if it was a 5 mins blitz game.
3 more minutes MC compute time and Prag would lose even faster. In a classical tournament Prag would probably only beat Eric Hansen and finish almost last.
@@stduserid weak troll
@@stduserid I don't agree with your words.
