Next episode: Lie detector test with Magnus Carlsen and Hans Niemann...
or with Kramnik 😂.

Magnus trying to control his heart rate to beat the test is such a Magnus thing too do !
the tester knowing that is impressive too. What a pro.
Danny said he figured he could do it, too, which is why he was amped for this content.
That why it wasn't accurate though. His heart rate was all over the place, and it was giving him inaccurate results.
@@billj4525 And that is one of the many reasons lie detectors are bullshit
@@billj4525oh really?
Magnus watches Hikaru to root against him 😂😂😂
I was expecting that tbh, not really surprising.
Haha, I'm glad that he said that. Makes me feel less of a terrible person for watching the Botez sisters only to root against them. 😂
I'm sure Hikaru takes that as a complement
@@englishmuffinpizzas either way Magnus is a fan. 😆
@@yigitkabaday3179 Why though? I can understand if it was in games where they were playing in the same tourney or if it affected Magnus. I find it funny he's rooting against him in completely random blitz games though. That's hilarious to me though, I love it.
Nice.
Anish up next?

You happy he called you smart?
Hi gustaf
Hello Mr. 140 IQ
Magnus hatewatching Hikaru streams wasn't on my 2024 bingo card lmao
That's hilarious he watches Hikarus videos just to root against him in random online blitz games. Omg that's so funny.
What a great fanfic idea he's given
Haters watching are technically considered fans
in a weird way, it's an acknowledgment, which can be reduced to a sign of respect. it's mainly funny though, because despite the overwhelming difference in their resumes, hikaru owns a little bit of property in magnus' head. whether thats truly due to jealousy, pure dislike, or genuine respect (since you would not want to see your rival win), it's hard to say.
@@be4st856Im 90% sure that Magnus dislikes Hikaru on a personal level

"Becoming one of the best chess players in the world is not easy, there are other areas where you can be worse at something and have an easier life" - Magnus Carlsen 2024 (17:28)
Words of wisdom
Being best in anything is always so hard!!
This deep tough
@@surajsahu5821 And on top of that, to maintain ur record for global legacy is even harder. Poor Magnus, why must we pressurize him so much?!
Ya.. that was rather profound. For Magnus, he really didn't have a choice though. The world's greatest in anything have something in them that allows for no other path.
"Magnus is trying to beat the test". I swear goat be doing his own things 😂
And it's not that hard either, much easier than being GM at chess. Polygraph is notorious in producing both false positive and false negative in large numbers and also highly manipulative by the examiner. The APA has very skeptical language warning about polygraphs being used for anything, and polygraph results are not admissible in most courts. Magnus is good at poker, and a good poker player should be able to consistently beat the polygraph with just a little bit training.
@@zxbc1 100% on the first part and mostly on the last part. A good poker player must be able to control their voice/tone, words, movements, gestures, show of breathing, and expressions - everything that is of face value. With a polygraph exam, more subconscious tells are introduced such as micro tics/twitches, heart rate, breathing rate, etc… things that can be harder for some to hide even with training/practice. Polygraphs are notoriously erroneous (as you stated), but unless you have one to practice with and even then… you might not be able to discover all your tells.

Nah I feel for David these questions are way too brutal 😭😭😭
He got bodied from QUESTION 1! lololllll
Levy and Danny were much more wholesome. :D
and this is why we love Magnus, pure 100% dry honesty lmao
Magnus is, and always has been, a jerk. Kindness isn’t required of a world champion, however.
@@footballuniverse6522 Polygraph results are absolutely garbage. That's why they're not admissible in court in vast majority of places and even when they are, both sides have to agree first. Also the examiner basically has a huge discretion in interpreting the result, it's literally him deciding arbitrarily within a very large range of readings. I can't believe how many people take these results seriously.
@@zxbc1 Learn a thing or two about polygraphs. if done properly, the results are over 90% accurate
14:10 That "Yeah ..." Don't need a lie detector to know that wasn't true.
So high-pitched.
Magnus at the end was very self-aware when he said sometimes he lies to himself.
That means he gave answers that he thought were truthful, but they came out as lies - very cool that he was reflective about that.
How do you know whether it is true or not?
@@greenonions23 Some of his answers he had talked about before. You can tell that the test was pretty inaccurate on several of his answers. I mean that's to be expected. They aren't always very accurate, and sometimes they're way off.
I took it more like a "I managed to beat the test" sort of deadpan sarcasm. He told the truth but managed to confuse the machine enough for it to come across as a lie.
@@merluzacongelada5361 yeah yeah magnus always wins since he's the best at everything right?
@@frankhungch Uh? He's known for his deadpan sarcasm and it was stated that he was trying to beat the test, which is relatively easy to achieve if you know what you're doing. Now knowing all of this, if you still don't think what I said is at the very least reasonable maybe that's why you don't always win or are the best at anything.

AHAHHAHA
I suspect Howell may be reading this, so I want to say you’re not vain for thinking you’re the best commentator, if you truly do. I think you’re the best, too.
I think Naroditsky is and most people probably think alike, but he is close.
Weaker than Giri/Svidler, less opening knowledge than Jan, worse at explaining than Naroditsky, and I personally prefer Hess. And then you also have Leko and Yasser.
Nothing wrong with Howell, he's definitely a good commentator, but probably more like top 5 imo.
But he is vain for trying to beat Magnus just because he said he doesn't respect his game. He's a lower rated player, that's just common sense.
@@guckax7730 it makes sense to have no respect for a top 50 player?

Best interview ever. Kudos to Magnus for doing it.
David makes it so much fun to watch! He has a fun, lovable personality, much like Peter Svidler!
That was far more awesome than most chess content. amazing to get real insights, instead of drawing them from what they do.
Awesome video and just in time I was feeling really bad and this improved my mood significantly.
They're both really cool chess players ngl i love this series
That guy is saying in the intro that he's mostly using lie detectors for serious stuff, which is funny because it should only be used for not serious stuff
?
@@allan.carvajal They are pretty easy to fake
@@hmm7258 Yeah, they're bs. I mean it made so many mistakes just in this video. Pretty obvious to see.
Lie detectors are not used to prove someone is guilty, they're used to make the interrogatee more stressed and thus more likely to confess fully or partially to whatever they're accused of. Works wonders in criminal cases
and none of the evidence is admissible in court
Very cool, I always got the impression that Magnus gives truthful interviews without unnecessarily insulting others, and it was true for this as well. Very level headed.
What a time to be alive, seeing the GOAT of chess sitting there with a lie detector answering stupid questions :D

One of the best videos ever (like every Magnus one)
Anish is gonna be so stoked. I agree that he's razor sharp.
0:52 Bruh the contrast.....
I don't deeply follow Chess but this was an amazing video. Watching 2 intellectuals tied up to a lie detector test being blunt and honest, it was hilarious. I liked that they didn't hold off with weak questions and really asked hard hitting stuff with fun questions. I also would respect Magnus much, much less if he answered "No" to not resenting him or not thinking he's the GOAT. When you reach the 0.001% strata of enough competitive field with males, if you don't have that mindset, you will never become a multigenerational talent like Magnus. Eg: Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Magnus, etc. These people are *obsessed*.
I love that the guy can actually tell when the person really doesn't care. Imagine if they tested Hikaru with that.
„Don‘t ask the question if you don‘t like the answer.“ … so true!
No question is tough for Magnus, Magnus is tough for the question
WE NEED MORE OF THIS

The lie detector guy very likely isn't a chess player, I suspect the question was specifically worded to exclude him.
