You gotta thin those Peaches out to about 6 inches apart when they are little green things, saves your branches and gives you bigger fruit. Prune your tree in late winter or early spring, depending on temperatures where you live. Worked over 30 years in orchards, mostly peach orchards. 💯 Great Job, nothing beats a tree ripe peach and a peach pie 🥧 😋

I've had to thin my citrus this year to save the branches. I've also thinned my peaches, but this year the worms thinned them for me. If the good Lord willing I will be spraying my fruit next season, if we have another season.

One year I tried to make blueberry preserves, they didn't jell, I cried about it, my husband and kids opened a jar, poured it over ice cream, cake, pancakes, and begged me to make more! Never got it to fail that way again. Just goes to show, one man's trash is another man's treasure and call a failed jam a syrup, and you're a winner! It's all in how you look at something that determines success. Also, the love of family means, they see your failures as a success because you tried and they believe in you more than they do. That failure was my biggest win because it taught me I succeeded in creating a family that thinks the things I think are ugly about myself are beautiful to them. If that's not success, it just doesn't exist. That was 15 years ago. My husband still sees me as the girl I was when he met me no matter how much I think I've aged. Keeping your family together means no matter what, your family thinks you're your best self you forgot you were but want to be. That's beautiful and worth all the night shirts with vomit and worse on them isn't it? May not be glamorous but they see you as a goddess when you haven't shaved and your hair's a mess and your house clothes are stained with holes in them. They're worth every sleepless night and every wrinkle you get from worry❤

You could mulch it with dried leaves and it is fertilizer, too. I do it here in Alberta, Canada, where it is an arid climate and we get very little rain. In the fall when my crop is out and the soil has been cleaned up, and any cover crop rototilled in, I cover the plot with a thick lawyer of leaves. I get leaves frommy neighbours and I know their trees are healthy. I put them as thick as I can and I put 4 ft of leaves on my perennials. I don't remove them leaves in the fall. I just leave them on my perennials like rhubarb, anything I will pull over early winter like parsnip, horseradish, cabbage. It keeps them good until Dec. The leaves break down over winter. After 3 years your leaves will have made your soil the best you can get. It is free organic fertilizer. The other thing you can do is take the offal and feathers from whatever you shoot trap or fish heads and tails on your garden. My grandmother used to put fish offal on her cabbages in Newfoundland and she lived above the tree line on the north coast. My grandpa was a cod fisherman. Put this stuff on your potatoes, beets too and hill the plants. If you cover it you reduce the flies and make it rot in quicker. I also lived in Toronto Ontario and I had apricots pears plums and apples. I had a sprayer and I applied dormant oil to the tree in spring BEFORE the buds opened. All the old Italian neighbors had fruit trees including fig trees which they buried over winter in 7 foot holes and our fruit was perfect. It is cheap and non-toxic. It is worth a try. Gotta be better then 2 doses of pesticides. You can only use it in early fall, so you might need another or many biweekly sprays of more when the fruit is ripe, too. I have no experience with peaches, but I imagine they are much like apricots. You can get non toxic dormant oil so read up this winter. Wild Blueberries love where the ground has previously burned, so I would drop some wood ash in the fall around them, and I sprinkle ash all over the leaves around currents gooseberries perenials and veggies. Not alot, just a dusting. The chunks of burnt wood, is called bio-char and soil microbs use it as a place to live. You have great farming knowledge & methods, and thank you for all the detail you provide Mr. and Mrs. Lawson. My complements to the cook! 🎉❤❤ However much fits in a bag & eating as you pick works for me, too. Link to dormant oil info: thegoodearthgarden.com/effectively-use-dormant-oil/

Those are absolutely the best looking peaches I've seen in years and I bet they are delicious. That bottom land is paying off. I remember us having corn running out our ears in the bottom at Grandpa's when no one else had any. I love one pot meals and that looks like a working persons meal. Y'all have a great day and if you have any rain you don't need, send it my way as soon as possible.

We use Surround Kaolin clay on our peach trees. It can also be sprayed on your veggies to prevent parasites. Hope this helps!
