  • In this video I talk about the support the Crisis Team offer, but this is based on my personal experience. Crisis Teams may be called something else depending on where you live, and the services and quality of services will differ depending on your location and the resources available.
When we are poorly mentally we may need to go into hospital, however, there is also support available in the form of ‘The Crisis Team’. They will support you 24/7 when you’re in their care, meaning you don’t have to go into hospital. I will explain what the Crisis Team are, what they do and how to get their support. Please share your experience of the Crisis Team in the comments below - and if you have information about Crisis Teams outside the UK the please share with TLBP Community - it’s always great to hear from you guys.
Here are the chapters and where they appear in the video:
    - Intro - 0:30
    - Overview of the Crisis Team - 1:28
    - What are the Crisis Team? - 2:05
    - What other names can be given to the Crisis Team? - 4:05
    - How does the Crisis Team help? - 4:41
    - Who make up the Crisis Team? - 8:26
    - How do I get help from the Crisis Team? - 10:36
Thank you for taking the time to watch this - I hope to see you next time.
Please subscribe to my channel for more videos about mental illness and leave any questions or comments you may have in the space below.
Take care and I hope you have a safe, peaceful week.

As with all my videos, I'm trying to explain everything as clearly as possible and provide examples from my life to help you understand. I might not get everything right every time, but I wanted to give it a go, and I hope it will be of benefit to you. This Vlog is from my perspective, but I do appreciate that not everyone will have had the same experience as myself - we are all different after all. I have also tried, where applicable, to reference everything correctly, but we are all human and make mistakes - please stick with me.

well the first Crisis team I experienced was awful didn't care at all but then I moved to Somerset and I found the crisis team to be a wonderful bunch of people. soi think they really wanted to help me so not all Crisis teams are bad there are ones like in Somerset that really do care about people I mean if someone is working the health and social care sector and they're not a caring person there in the wrong job because I think years ago when people got trained as nurses say they were taught to have compassion and really care about people but now it's not required but this is the sector i want to be involved with because I think to truly have empathy for others with mental health issues you have to have experience of mental health whether it's personal or Weather you have helped a family member with those issues so yeah i think from experience it depends where you live as to the quality of the crisis team.

Hi Matthew, you are so right, it really depends on where you live. I'm pleased that the services in Somerset were helpful and supportive for you. I agree that people in this sector need to demonstrate compassion and empathy and I also agree with you that the only people that can fully understand are those that live with mental illness. Thanks for adding to the conversation. Take care x

I found this really interesting- I'm a student mental health nurse and am starting a placement with the crisis team soon, so it was good to hear all of this information, plus it's been really useful reading all of the comments, I can see some themes with both the positive and the negative, thanks for sharing everyone ❤

I seriously don't know what the "crisis team" do, they don't provide emotional support for distress... And er... That's it.
They did once come out for a few days for two mins a day to see me take a pill....
I have asked what help they actually do provide, but was not given an answer, just told to ring them if i need help.
Well help with what? My laundry?
I mean obviously i thought you rang them if you became distressed to the point of a "crisis" but i was wrong, they aren't there for that. So.... What else do they do?

    • @TheLittleBluePot
      @TheLittleBluePot  Před 5 lety +4

Hi, thanks for your comment. The Crisis Team are there to prevent you going into hospital. Often we get into crisis and need to be admitted if we are deemed unsafe to ourselves or those around us. For others being hospitalised isn't necessary so the crisis team step in and provide support so you don't have to be admitted. They are supposed to monitor you to make sure you are safe, and in my experience they have provided support over the phone. I'm sorry that your experience is different and I'm sorry that they haven't given you any emotional support over the phone. I hope you get well soon, being at crisis point can be scary, but you will get there my friend, good luck on your journey. I'm sending hugs. Take care. Gem

  • @queenjulianalovesherfatban2064

I've always struggled with feeling like even when I am at crisis point that because I am still able to take care of myself (showering , brushing my teeth, getting dressed etc) with my anxiety and depression I feel like I'm wasting their time because I don't feel like I'm ill enough even though I know deep down that I do struggle significantly with my mental health

I found a lot of them be patronising ans unsympathetic, telling me 'what can we do'???? No support, no help,I just got sick of them:and haven't rung since!!!!!

I've rung the Leeds crisis team in distress many times before desperate for help.
They have flat out told me that they can't do anything.
They said they offer no urgent services.
They just keep putting the phone down.
I've ended up in hospital before because of supposed mh services and everyone just fobs me off.

That is shocking! I can't believe your GP said that and actually thinks that. I'm sorry you were told that and that you didn't get the support you need. I wish more people had a better understanding of mental illness, especially professionals. Take care of yourself. Massive hugs x
