    Welcome to my CZcams channel where I’m hoping to educate people on the different types of mental illness to provide an understanding and learn ways to cope. I also vlog about my own experience of living with mental illness, as well as sharing other aspects of my life. I want to raise awareness of mental health problems and mental illness, so I hope my channel helps you and others.
    As with all my videos, I'm trying to explain everything as clearly as possible and provide examples from my life to help you understand. I might not get everything right every time, but I wanted to give it a go, and I hope it will be of benefit to you. This Vlog is from my perspective, but I do appreciate that not everyone will have had the same experience as myself - we are all different after all. I have also tried, where applicable, to reference everything correctly, but we are all human and make mistakes - please stick with me.

    Stress and a huge build up of it was the trigger for my wife's breakdown. 2011 was extremely hard over the full 12 months in the lead up to her being hospitalised for 2 weeks in January 2012. Add to this that she also had a traumatic childhood. Her dad was in and out of hospital with cancer from the age of when she was 11 but her mum emotionally bullied her throughout this time.

      I seriously think you are right on point. I have the disorder and i also watched my dad die when i was 6. He died of heart attack. I was in hospitial with him then the next day he dies. Also i experienced lots of bullying when i was 6 from teenagers who even used there tooth brush to wash there car with to brush my teeth in front of a lot of other teens and when i told my aunty she asked me what did i do to start this. I was also molested at age 9 by my friends ungle. So I strongly believe scitzoaffective disorder has a lot to do with childhood truauma

    After a very traumatic childhood i was diagnosed with BPD, PTSD and Manic depression at age 13. When I aged out of foster care, i chose not to medicate my self. My mental state spiraled down and was told recently that I was Schizoaffective. So i assumed they were telling me i saw people and heard voices.. I didnt take into consideration my paranoia and delusions. One time about 15 years ago I went 2 days in a row thinking that I was dreaming, or my constant fear of the apocalypse . Some times I stay up for days preparing. and if its not that, then its ufos, illuminati, and ghost . Im all types of weird lol

    My wife was diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder in January 2012. She has relapsed on three occasions since and these have lasted 12 months +. She has fixed, false delusional beliefs. Alongside this she has anosognesia as she has never accepted, acknowledged that she has this illness. And, therefore, has never managed it through treatment.

    Sorry for the ramble, but It's helping me work through this, so thanks Gem for asking for our stories.
    Let me start off by saying that I am un-diagnosed, and I have an understanding that self-diagnoses are often dangerous without professional input. I am 26 and have had a few psychotic episodes in the last 5 years due to interpersonal relationships, violence, and familial tragedy. The last two years of my life have been nothing but confusing cyclical jumble of depression, mania, and mixed psychotic symptoms which has made me quite anti-social due to the delusion that: if I cannot keep up with my wavering mood throughout the week, who else could? I usually have 2-3 manic days out of the month where I have major delusions of grandeur with whatever task at hand, especially if it is in a social setting. Manic symptoms also give me the delusional unwavering, unwarranted confidence that my actions are inconsequential, such as substance abuse, sexual deviancy, and just being kind of sociopathic generally. After manic symptoms subside usually a day or two after, the depressive symptoms root deep. I hear voices that reinforce all these little delusions, warping my object reality into something that is entirely "me against the world"

    Diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder of bipolar type. I had a normal childhood, loving parents so no abuse. When I start something new (hobby, job, activity of any sort) I go into a state of optimism, everything is possible and the new thing is obsessing me in and out. So much energy I cant keep still! But it never last because I then crash into a down with depression where I abandon everything (jobs too), feels impossible to go on, shut down from everything, paranoia kicks in etc. It can come in waves of few days to few weeks or rapidly switch in a day (was wrongly diagnose with borderline disorder years ago). I have hallucinations, illusions, go into psychosis and end up in the ER. I'm also diagnosed with schizotypal disorder, they put all of us more marginal souls in that disorder! I'm 48 and SD has ruined my life so far. I'm on Zoloft and aripiprazole (Abilify), meds are still being ajusted so can't say if they help besides me being tired and zombie all the time with barely any sleep.

      Yep, sounds like me! Wonderful childhood, great upbringing, no traumas. Hit my late teens and things started getting squirrelly. Went through diagnoses of depression, then bipolar 2, then bipolar 1 with psychotic features, now schizoaffective. I have the episodes of paranoia (more there than not, just worse sometimes) as well plus negative symptoms like flat affect and ahedonia. Good times. Hope you get things settled down. I'm going through a med change right now too. Spice of life. Good luck to you!

    How is this different from bipolor 1 with psychotic features.?? I am extremely concerned about my son.

    • @WhatTheFiber
      @WhatTheFiber Před 3 lety

      Schizoaffective is psychotic symptoms outside of mood disturbances. So bipolar w/ psychotic features would experience psychosis only during mood disturbances (mostly mania).

    Hi Gem ... truly a very fitting name for a very gorgeous girliee .. inside n out 🔮💎✨ aha ☺️💗 thanks so much for thiss .. it's so incredibly informative and well constructed bravo pretty lady hehe 🙃👏🏻 one question tho.. up until 27 (my age) Is gone through life without any symptoms of psychosis whatsoever .. the closest I can think of I'd experienced was mehh .. just extreme paranoia and anxiety issues (GAD/ social anxiety/ panic disorder and complex PTSD) in which I used for THE longest time dealing with by incredibly dangerous, copious amounts of alcohol and drugs ( resulting in four yess you read that right four medically induced comas 😰😭) .. my question is why my and how has the psychosis just suddenly developed NOW? Is this even possible? 😕 I should add the last four years of so of my life have been INCREDIBLY stressful to say the least 😢☹️ ... so is it possible that the intense trauma reminiscent of that from childhood ;; coupled with the serious comatose overdoses could have caused this? This is all so very new and scary to me and I'm having the hardest time getting my head around it 😓Tysm in advance my love 💗 you're a Gem 💎☺️🙏🏻🎀✨

    • @TheLittleBluePot
      @TheLittleBluePot  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Olivia sorry you have been through so much. I also used drugs and alcohol during my darkest days. That must have been a scary time having four induced comas, you really have been through it. I'm afraid I don't know why psychosis suddenly develops, but I think you are right your traumatic experiences combined with other stresses could have been the cause. I'm sorry you are going through such a difficult time, I imagine it is scary and hard to get your head around. I just hope you have the support you need, because this will help you learn ways to cope. I'm sending lots of hugs my friend. Thanks for your kind words too and I'm pleased you found the video helpful. Take care. Hugs x
