    Open your oil filler cap before you open your oil drain pan bolt. Open the oil filler cap and rest it right where it sits. Helps drain oil.

    You can also get a preliminary oil level quantity check after an oil change, without starting the engine. Go to ACC and do the same oil level toggle display. If for some reason someone here didn’t add enough oil and starts the engine it’ll tell you if it needs more.

    Hi, My bmw E83 crankcase vent valve went bad with pressure in engine & blow out my valve cover gasket. Do you think it could have damage any other seals

    • @CrossroadsRebuild
      @CrossroadsRebuild  Před 3 lety

      Tbh, I’m not sure. You replace the pcv and valve cover gasket and have to see. Hopefully not. I’m not thinking of what else it would’ve blown out. The other thing I would check is your plugs and coils. With a blown valve cover gasket it is common to get oil down in the coils and plugs. Good luck!

    Fyi, you turn that oil filter by hand then with a wrench. Never leave it snug tight.

    Nice work but you should have opened the oil filler to have a better air flow of the old oil so it won't take long to drain

  • @ltsTorres

    these filter caps aren’t easy to get on hand tight with the gasket, be sure its seated all the way where it should be.

    • @CrossroadsRebuild
      @CrossroadsRebuild  Před 4 lety

      I didn’t put prices because that can vary greatly depending on where you buy your supplies, where you live, and will also likely fluctuate with time. I highly recommend you check out fcpeuro.com and plug in your vehicle details to find out what it will cost. They have a lifetime warranty on everything, so if you’ll have the car for a while, they are the best place to buy from!

    The most stupid thing the bmw engineers did was removing the physical engine coolant temperature gauge from the front cluster and use a hidden digital reading which many ordinary car owners are having tough times figuring it out. This is dangerous because the engine can overheat while driving on a highway without monitoring and seeing it. Oil check is better but coolant temperature check need you to press codes which is tedious while driving on high speed road that need your full on steering wheel attention. Old cluster gauges and meters where thought-out useful and straight forward. Today's engineers don't solve problems but create lot of problems. Some decided to remove a spare wheel on German cars and replace it with run-a flat tire which is basically hard to repair and defeat common sense since you cannot change it if it get flat in the night or middle of nowhere. Today's engineers and car designers don't know how t differentiate between an F1 race car and household vehicles. Don't fix what's not broken. Too much unnecessary innovation to look different and stand out in the auto industry is complicating things and taking away the trust from German engineering.
    Ask German cars makers what wrong with oil dipstick and cluster gauges? Why too plastic parts in a car that costs too much to buy and maintain?
