    nice video and format. Just super glue the broken tab back on. Or, you could plastic weld it (and the other) with a zip tie. Merci

    With the jack stand points, while strong, I like placing a rubber insert in there just to take the load off the plastic edges.

    One thing is interesting,e46 oilpan plug is hollow,so it cracks before you hurt oilpan when overthitening it,but it seems newer ones doesn't...🤔

      Sorry....that's not correct. The steel plug WILL strip the threads in the Aluminum oil pan before it would think about cracking. Please do NOT over tighten.....Torque to 25 Nm per BMW spec. with new crush washer

    I made the mistake once doing the oil change this way by removing the filter first before opening the filler cap and draining the oil, of course oil spilled over from the oil filter housing. So I have found that to avoid that mess, I open the oil filler cap first then drain the oil and change the filter last and that makes the change a lot cleaner.

    My N54’s drain plug faces straight down.. I’ve never seen that on another one 🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s not a repair either, there not a spot where it was ever on the side. I actually had to order crush washers, because it’s different from the one that comes with the filter.

    I use LL-01 and change oil every 15,000. Kilometers! Call me silly, but I just don't trust BMW (or any manufacturer for that matter) when they say 25,000km-interval/life-time fluid/maintenance-free and such.

    • @cardo1111
      @cardo1111 Před 3 lety +1

      Agreed. I think it is really pushing it, the higher -end manufacturers did this I believe to include “free maintenance” with their vehicles to make leases/purchases more enticing Without tying up their dealer techs too often from more lucrative services. The problem is and I’ve seen it many times is the oil level will drop before the maintenance is due and many owners think they don’t even have to check it for 15,000 miles. Hey BMW and the salesperson told me I don’t have to change it for 15,000 miles…

    • @MrAcc45
      @MrAcc45 Před 3 lety +2

      @@cardo1111 Maybe if 25000km is done, the owner should change the oil filter midway. say at 12500km or earlier to be safe. I heard these oils can last very long before degrading. but am not sure if the oil filter can hold up that long.

    • @cardo1111
      @cardo1111 Před 3 lety +3

      @@MrAcc45 There are high quality filters out there that can likely go the distance, my main concern is people getting lax on checking the oil during the long service interval and BMW's are known to consume some oil.
