Here's a quick tip to save you an expense.
I had a flat tyre today and once removed I put it in the boot to take to a tyre place, rather than wind it back up on the cable. Problem is if you wind up the cable with no tyre (therefore no tension), it ruins the mechanism and you need to replace ($330au). The tyre guys said they see this happen on nearly every land rover that comes in. It's a detail probably buried in the manual somewhere, or on the tyre change sheet shown in the video which I unfortunately didn't have.
Annoying that such a rugged vehicle doesn't have a more robust system. You win again Landrover!

I haven't experienced this first hand, but I would think you would have to support the spare and cut the retainer ( for the winch) in the center of the wheel.

Just wondering about replacing space saver with oversize full size spare eg 265/65/18.. wondering if it will fit under rear ok there and not protrude too much?

I ran the full standard size tire as spare. It fits but a little tight as hangs lower. I didn't try the 265. Unfortunately car gone now.

I hate this design. Had a flat today on a dirt road. Got covered in mud getting the cable released from the spare wheel but you don't show that bit. I keep old Defender mudflaps to kneel on.
