    Bought a set of the Baja Boss about 3 months ago and have run about 4,500 miles on them. We haven't had snow yet, so there no report on snow. I took a trip to Jarbidge, Nevada, the most isolated town in the contiguous 48 states 2 weeks ago bouncing down 20 miles of dirt road. The dirt roads are graded so no slop or rock crawling. No slippage. Just secure, and solid even driving up a steep dirt road in a 6.7 dieesel 4x4 pick up. Most driving is on hard pack concrefe so far. Theyre quiet and secure. During a downpour they didnt lift or hydroplane, but kept me planted on tbe road.

    I put a set of the MT Boss AT on my 2021 Ram 3500 dually, size 255/85/17. Was a bit nervous as I did not want noise, or rubbing. Completely impressed so far. Quiet, ride smooth, no rubbing, great in heavy rain. I have made two different trips pulling just under 20,000#s, handled it excellent. Waiting for snow and ice test, but feel confident. Will see how they hold up mileage wise, have 2000 on them already. Wearing great so far. Previous tires on my trucks, BFG KO2 (good), GY Duratrac( very good), Cooper st max (terrible). Love to see a comparison with toyo at3. The Toyo’s are very similar with large lug voids. We went with the toyo due to 3970lbs load rating on the 35x18x12.5’s and snow rated. We have off road one to. work trucks that tow heavy. So, one set of tires for year round off road work trucks? We don’t care what they cost, we make a living on them.

    I was pretty upset that the ATZ P3 was going away. I actually run them on two work trucks that see heavy city use. They hold very well and wear great. Easily get the same mileage out of them that I do the BFG AT (you just have to Rotate them), and they look and feel so much more aggressive. Its almost like these are an AT with the optical illusion of a MT.

      I put 33" MT Baja Boss M/Ts on my Jeep back in Nov. '20 and I'll tell anyone that these tires are UnfreakN believably great tires!!!! I can roll on freeway at 75 and it is still low noise level coming from a M/T tire; is as quiet as most any A/T tire I've heard and Quieter than some A/T tires I've had/heard! And they do the job off road fantastically!!!!!! I was hoping that MT would launch an A/T version Baja Boss and now they have!! Future tires for our future Bronco here we come! MT needs to stick with these BOSS versions because once the word gets out enough they are going to be a tire you see a lot of!!!

I've had 2 separate Nitto's in the last year that have internally separated and buldged, even with proper maintenance. After talking to others that have the same tires and even some with Terra Grapplers are having the same issue. I used to love Nitto's, but they're shit anymore.

      I’m on my second set of Nitto tires in 45000 miles. I’m currently running a ridge grappler. I do not suggest this tire. It holds rocks really bad and it’s frustrating coming off the trail and getting to highway speeds hearing these rocks release. It sounds like someone shooting my truck. Nitto tires also wear WAY too fast. I only got 17000 miles out of the trail grappler M/Ts which have a 38/32 depth new. It was a loud tire that constantly needed balancing.

    You don't actually want to throw snow out of a tire if you are driving on snow unless there is a thin layer of snow on top of mud or dirt that you are trying to dig to. That's why mud tires generally aren't good on snow, that and they often don't come in compounds that are still soft under 45 degrees F and instead turn into hockey pucks.

      True for most on road situations, but if you're in deep untouched snow you won't want snow filled tires.

    • @schmojo33
      @schmojo33 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Llama052 In deep snow mud terrains will just bury you to your frame, unless, like I said, you can dig to dirt and without burying to your frame. You want to stay on top of snow in deep snow unless you have tires that are tall and skinny enough. Snow filled tires grip snow, that's why snow tires work. When you roll a snowball across snow, it sticks to snow and grabs it. That's how snowmen are able to be made. Now if you have mud tires that are closer to paddle tires then its a different story.

    • @Llama052
      @Llama052 Před 2 lety +2

      @@schmojo33 That's not entirely true, at least in PNW snow.. certain snow conditions will cause your A/Ts to turn into slicks and be unable to dig, you'll just be creating ice. You'll want lugs to get leverage or else you're stuck. It's a big reason why a lot of the snow running groups here run M/Ts on their dedicated rigs.

    • @schmojo33
      @schmojo33 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Llama052 I run in Minnesota. Lugs just dig in and bury you, unless the snow isn't deep and you can grab the ground underneath, and then your tires have to climb a wall of snow while your frame drags. I laugh when I drive by the guy with MTs while on my Wildpeaks before I get out and help but hey run what works for you. When it's really cold and the snow doesn't even want to stick then lugs can do more good than harm.

    Isn't in kind of important to mention the number of tread and sidewall plys when reviewing an offroad tire? I don't like 2 ply sidewall tires, they puncture way too easy. I did some looking around and it seems like the load rated F tire has 12 tread plys and 8 sidewall plys. That's excellent compared to most tires. My 2021 Jeep Rubicon came with Falken WildPeak tires that look cool but they only have 6 tread plys and 2 sidewall plys. Those won't last long on a forest service road with a few sticks laying around.
