Girona has the benefit of drivers not wanting to kill you on the rides.

You couldn't pay me enough to live near LA. I live in Beaumont which is about 100 miles east of LA. I love where I live - I have multiple huge climbs that I go to from my doorstep.
I can go to Idyllwild, out and back it's about 7k elevation gain and 70 miles.
I can do a short climb up Oak Glen, about 2.5k elevation gain and like 18 miles there and back from my house.
I can do a long climb up to Big Bear the back way up Highway 38. The other week I went from my house, up to Oak Glen, then up to Angelus Oaks, back through Oak Glen, and home. It was only about 60 miles but I gained 8,000 feet.
I also don't have to deal with transients and 800 fuckin people left and right like you have to deal with in LA.

That must be so hard for you to have seen people experiencing poverty. I can tell it's really affected you deeply. Are you okay? Do you need a blanket? Could I call someone for you? Your emotional comfort is so much more important to me than whether other human beings have access to housing and basic human dignity.

Mallorca is great not only because of the roads, but also because of the people.
Most of them are super nice, and even if their temper is above their hair line, they never overtake you with a cm margin.

LA is great. I lived in Marina Del Rey 4 yrs and had all the climbing I could handle within 30 min riding. Not so stoked descending sts like Tigertail or Mandeville Canyon but certainly didn’t enjoy getting breezed by cars going up Topanga to get to Fernwood. Actually dirt Mulholland on a gravel bike would be nice

Yeah once you get away from the cars it’s pretty incredible. Latigo Canyon in Malibu is straight up magic

This is going to make a European’s head explode with anger but he’s not wrong. Everyone thinks the best riding is in Europe but I bet it’s right here in good ole USA.

Best riding is in Europe because drivers aren't always trying to kill you
