In this video I show you step-by-step how to change your oil properly on a Can-Am Ryker. the steps can be followed for all models the 600 the 900 and rally.
click on this link and I will show you step-by-step how to check your oil properly.
• Can-Am Ryker How to ch...
These are the steps you need to take when you are checking your oil level on the Can-Am Ryker this applies to all models.
1: take the vehicle for a 9 Mile ride. this will ensure that all the oil is distributed throughout the motor and that it is at running temperature. just letting it idle until it's at running temperature will not achieve this.
2: open the air vent and have a paper towel handy before you shut the bike off.
3: shut the vehicle off you now have 10 seconds.
4: within 10 seconds you need to remove the dipstick wipe it off once and put it back in. make sure you thread it all the way down and then unthread it again and look where the oil level is.
5: that is officially your oil level if it's in the middle there is no need to add oil or take away oil.
6: a motor that is overfilled with oil can do more damage quicker than in motor that has low oil.

The ramps that I use are the rhino 12k ramps. there are stackable and very compact for storage.
you can find them on Amazon but they are usually sold out so here is the link to Amazon. they should only cost you around $50 you can also purchase them in person at O'Reilly's for about $5 more than Amazon.
Yes they are you can purchase them on Amazon..

Thanks for the post, great info for my Ryker maintenance.
PERFECT.
THANK YOU.
10/10.
I learnt a LOT.
Thank You.
Thanks bro this was super helpful!
Nice job. If I remember correctly the 600 does take less oil than the 900's. They sell a separate kit for the 600.
Great dyi vid man. Thank you so much!
Just finished up my first oil change. Great video Bill!
Thanks
You did a really good job on your Ryker.
Thank you
Whelp, did my first service at 6k. Video was helpful.
I appreciate your good informative videos.
Thanks for subscribing to the channel I really appreciate the support
Great video!
Just wanted to give a shout out and thank you for your video. I always try to learn how to do basic maint (oil, breaks, etc) and you made this very easy for someone who has only worked on cars.
As an idea for a future video, I know the can-am dealers talk about their yearly inspections (which includes the oil change), if you could put something together that shows what fittings needs to be greased (if any) an other steps that would be great! I believe most of it is a visual inspection but I haven't heard the same story twice when talking to shops.
That's a great idea and I will look into this further thank you have a great day I'm glad I could help you
Very nice and clean job. I was also worried about that great watch getting damaged.
Nice video Bill. I'll be changing my oil this year for my Rallys first change and your video was very informative.
Have you ever tried the Invisible Glove cream? I don't know about you but I hate wearing gloves to work on vehicles...not enough finger sensitivity or the gloves get caught on edges and tear. The invisible glov e cream goes on wet and then dries in a few minutes. It creates a film on your skin that you just wash off after work is done. I've been using it for years and love it. Looks like There is now a similar product called Ghost Glove that does the same.
I've never used it before I will have to check it out thank you
Dear bill were can i get new o rings when i change gear box oil .Thanks
Bruh ... I need that LED Bull Bar when I get my Ryker in a few months
Hi, what are the diameters of the two washers under the drain plugs, please? Thank you :-)
Hey Bill! Great video. Any tips on changing the gearbox oil?
I have not had to do it yet but when I do I will be making a video on it
what is the FT/LBS for the secondary drain plug? and what is the FT/LBS for oil filter cap bolts? thanks
I believe I go over this in the video. if you can't find the torque specs you can get a hold of me through social media like Facebook messenger.
I contact information is in the description below the video.
Or you can reach out to me through my Facebook page. BLR TUNING

I would be more than happy to send you a screenshot from the actual maintenance book.
In my 600CC kit, I only got one set of the o-rings.
Manual says the 600 gets 2.64 qts with filter, 900 gets 2.96 qts with filter.
Can you add a link to where you bought the oil kit from, please. Thanks!
I got mine from a local motorcycle shop here in town.
If you go on Amazon's website and just search XPS ryker oil kit you'll see the correct kit on there there is a kit that is separate for the six hundred... The 900 and the rally take the same one..
I don't know why I am just now seeing your message I do apologize. CZcams is not very good at sending notifications. I literally just now seen this message..
how do you measure the amount of pressure to apply on your torque wrench? for example 80 lbs of torque...pls help i don’t about wrenches and i’m planning to do the oil change myself too.
The torque wrench is adjustable, usually by rotating the handle you can set the desired torque (there may be different variants, but all torque wrenches Ive used have been like that). And then it will make a click sound once you apply the set torque.
sorry I didn't reply right away CZcams is not sending notifications for some weird reason some comments on my videos are just now getting to me...
As the person stated the answer the question for me yes torque wrench is adjustable usually by twisting the handle to the desired torque specifications then it will usually have a little lock down at the bottom that you will twist tight to lock it into place you'll hear a clicking sound or if it's an electronic torque wrench you will hear a beeping when it has reached torque as you're turning the bolt..
Where did you jack the bike up in the back to allow the jackstand to be placed where it is ?
Under the swing arm
Looks like they gave you an extra package of O-rings and Crush washers it's a bonus...lol
How hard is it to do the coolant. I damaged my radiator and have one on order. I didn't see a drain plug on the radiator.
It's not fun I can tell you that.. you can pull one of the hoses off but be prepared for a mess...
Also I do offer the radiator protective grill for the Can-Am ryker I ship those anywhere in the US and my friends over treal performance carry my product and ship it anywhere outside the US.. CZcams is very bad about sending notifications to the actual person that owns the CZcams channel. I am literally just now seeing your message and it says it's 5 months old. I greatly apologize for this...
If you would like to reach out to me in order a radiator protective Grill to protect your investment please feel free to reach out to me through the blr tuning Facebook page..

Hi bill I plane to buy can am ryker but I don't have garage can I park outside.if can am water proof?ty
Yes you can park the bike outside it's not going to hurt anything if it gets wet
Did post the link for the ramps?
hey sorry about that I was trying to find them elsewhere than Amazon because right now Amazon is sold out but you can buy them from a third-party seller on Amazon however they look like they're expensive from the third party seller probably because ever since I posted them they've been sold out everywhere.. I posted them about a month ago sitting next to my Can-Am Ryker and a photo of my Can-Am Ryker up on them and literally like a thousand people bought a set of those ramps..
I purchased mine from O'Reilly's for $5 more than what Amazon charges..
They are the rhino 12K ramps and they are stackable and easy to store..
I have updated the description below the video so there is a link now to Amazon they should have some back in stock in a couple weeks

Are those the Rhino ramps? Thanks for this video. 👍🏾
Yes they are you can purchase them on Amazon..
they should be right around $50 they're usually sold out on Amazon because there are very popular product.. you can also purchase them at O'Reilly's..

BiLL Ramseyer thanks looks like Walmart sells them out by me as well
very nice video Bill.. Question I was going to buy a 1500 lbs ATV/Motorcycle from Harbor Freight. Would that work to change the oil?
As long as you can get it up in the air it will be easier to change the oil but you can do it from on the ground it just doesn't have a lot of ground clearance underneath of it so it is definitely much easier to get it level and up in the air
Bill, did your oil filter receptacle had any oil in it during the change? It was the case for me.
But mine had a least half of the receptacle.
@@GrillPiece63 it would not be uncommon to see oil sitting in there.. as you drain the oil out of the bike that will slowly as well..
that's why I say pull the drain plugs off and then open that because in some cases it can be completely full and totally make a mess of oil going everywhere as soon as you open the seal..
if I'm understanding you correctly you're talking about both spot where the oil filter sits and you have to undo the three bolts to open the top ..
@@GrillPiece63 Yes mine had oil in there as well but it drained out as I drain the oil out of the motor. I let it sit with the drain bolts out for 10 minutes..
Where did you get that funnel from?
O'Reilly's
You didn't show where you put the jack to jack the back up so you could put the stand where it is. Where did you put the jack at?
The floor jack towards the back end of the bike is sitting exactly where I lifted the bike up from. Sorry I guess I should have shown that in the video for some reason I thought it was in there. anyways if you fast forward the video to exactly 9:01 in this video. you will see that the jack is under the rear swing arm with a rag on it so it doesn't scratch it up.. it is safe to lift the bike from the swing arm the frame or the rear shock mounting location..
Thank you for stopping by my CZcams channel I really hope you'll consider taking the time to hit the subscribe button. That always helps me out tremendously and it's what keeps me making CZcams videos this 33 minute video that you are watching took me 3 hours to film and about another 3 hours of video editing...
I hope you have a wonderful day if there's anything else I can help with please feel free to message me.

How many quarts does the 600 takes??
I believe around 2.6 but you'll need to look in your owner's man
Can I reach out to you for help? I’m trying to ask a question.
Send an email And we can exchange contact information.
blrtuning.tech@gmail.com
Okay
Didn’t heat the bike up will it be a problem
It won't be a problem it's just that oil drains quicker when it's warm. When oil is cold it gets thick like honey. When it's warm it gets thin and runs a lot better. Basically when it's warm you'll get more oil out of the motor then if it was cold. But no worries just let it sit there and drain for a little bit longer
How do you determine when the Ryker is level?
If the frame is level at the bottom then that is considered level you can look at the bar that foot pegs light on and check for level there
BiLL Ramseyer Thanks for the quick response. You have really great videos.
How many miles until you change it again?
Change your oil every 6,000 miles
@@BLRTUNING awesome! thanks Bill!
Mine only came with one set of O-rings
That's what other people are saying as well so I guess I got a bonus
