    You just reminded me that I never received a manual with mine. I was planning a trip to the dealer today anyway so I will try to remember to ask for one. I only have a little over 400 miles (approx 643 Km) on it so far, so not quite ready for an oil change. Thanks for the nice tutorial. I have to say though that I was really worried about your pretty ring getting dinged and scratched!

    • @RideForAdventures
      @RideForAdventures  Před 3 lety

      There is no need to do a reset. Write down your mileage in your manual and change the oil every 10,000 km as the manual suggests. I change mine every 6000 km

    • @RideForAdventures
      @RideForAdventures  Před 3 lety

      It’s recommended to change the oil every 6000 miles (10,000 kms). I will change mine and do all maintenance at about every 8000 miles. This includes air filters and a thorough inspection.

    Best way to get to cooking temp is to go out for a ride, far better for the engine, then do the procedure.

    • @RideForAdventures
      @RideForAdventures  Před 3 lety +2

      That would definitely get her heated.
      But then there’s the parking, ungearing (if you wear gear), jacking the bike, preparing the tools etc. The oil temp would have cooled somewhat by then.
      I always bring my engine up to running temp before I ride, as recommended. I don’t think it’s an issue for the engine.

  • @je7887

    Why wear rings when you are working with oil and the bike? Good idea to wear latex gloves too.

    • @RideForAdventures
      @RideForAdventures  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes I agree. I never take my ring off but if you notice I did eventually.
      The oil change is not about rings, or latex gloves, which I am allergic too.

    that tiny funnel was designed ONLY for the gas tank. It was never meant to be used for an oil funnel. For one thing it doesn't have very big opening like an oil funnel would have, and secondly, any oil film left on it will attract dirt in it's storage compartment, and I'd never want to then use it for gasoline.

    • @RideForAdventures
      @RideForAdventures  Před 3 lety +2

      Your right, it is a gas funnel. But I found it handy to use for filling the oil. Of course you wouldn’t want to leave it oily. It’s really not hard to clean the oil from it.

    • @RideForAdventures
      @RideForAdventures  Před 3 lety +2

      @Spydie Actually I’m thinking because the oil intake is so small anyways, using a larger funnel may cause a very quick over flow. I liked using this little funnel because I could see through it and pour slowly so as not to over fill or splatter back. We have lots of funnels in our shop too lol

    • @brianh.3468
