"Italian lifestyle" varies a lot from city to city. Naples has a lifestyle on its own and it is very different from other Italian cities. Anyway in the video there are the same bunch of stereotypes that people keep repeating over and over again when portraying Italy. He hardly learnt anything here: he was shown what foreigners want to be shown about Italy. The Neapolitan guy even tried to tell him that that "Italian gesture" means "what?" but he still kept using it as the usual Italian caricature that foreigners like to do.

As an Australian and from an Italian background, I noticed that too. Anyway, at least he wanted to learn something and even though it wasn't much and stereotyping, it seems he had fun.

Uff Brant can really give some cringe moments but he sure is confident enough to get away with it!

Good segment! Nice to see the DW crew doing all the summer travelling segments. Surprised DW chose Naples to feature. Hawaiian Pizza with pineapples on it is a CANADIAN Pizza.

The Hague have a court sitting there waiting for exactly this sort of thing.
Day after day they have absolutely nothing to do.
And then an Australian tips up.

It's not a thing Australians do either but on occasions you see it and sometimes, it's foreigners doing it. I say one in a million might do it and there are about 26 million of us. So not so bad. As a female, I have done it a couple of times to see peoples reactions. lol

A bit confused now. I thought that breakfast is exactly the time when you DO order your coffee with milk, since milk is fatty and nourishing, just as breakfast should be. You just don't order it after large meals, i.e. after lunch and dinner, and generally not in the afternoon.

This is more Napolitano than Italian in my eyes... Pizza fritta is typical from there, as it is with grapa or the gesture with the horns. But still a very nice video. :)

is not to be "italian", this is how to be neapolitan

    • @danilorossi8743

This is because in foreign countries the Italian culture is primarily represented by the Neapolitan culture. When I've been to the US and Australia the Italian words known there are mainly neapolitan, restaurants are mostly Neapolitan and classic Italian songs are classic Neapolitan songs. When I was travelling to Nevada desert in the car I heard Elvis sing '' O sole mio '' from the local radio station. '' O sole mio '' it is also the best known Italian song in the world.

The mistake foreigners make is thinking that gesturing is always funny.
In reality, making inappropriate gestures seems stupid, just like a child saying a new word without knowing the correct meaning.
