To ensure maximum number of fluke results we don't have just one bo1 swiss groupstage. We have four of them in a row😂
Any tournament that relies on BO1 games like this is fraudulent and should be treated as a joke its absolutely disgusting to see especially at the final major. I hope this doesnt go on into cs2(it will, sadly)
loving how hard you went with the "loser press conference" part, classic and should be submitted to valve to add to the rule book for future tournaments
It’s nice to see Rich rising above the trend and calling it the Blue Balls system instead of the super low hanging fruit of the Buttholz system.
The ultimate irony of Blastralis not making the first ever blast major😂
26:49 Buchholz was introduced for London 2018, I hated it then and its been downhill ever since yet everyone seems fine with it. A hard reset for CS2 is 100% required it can't keep going like this.
I really liked how you were talking about how the winning team from the previous major should come back to defend their title it would make such a game changer and be that much more fun to watch as a viewer.
Love that this was posted the day liquid went 0-2 as well haha
At least they have a favourable path back to 2-2
The reigning champions not being invited to defend their title is blowing my mind. Like how did someone think that was a good idea.
I fell asleep last night and in usual Major fashion I left the blast stream going while I slept so when I woke up around 4am it'd already be going. I woke up like the Jarl Balgruuf meme at the FaZe score and promptly decided that was enough of the Major for today and went about my morning routine.
so your position at the last major effects seeding, but winning it is not an auto invite? LMAO what a joke.
Welcome to Counter Strike, you must be new here. Let me explain how things work.
Think of ways to make sure the best teams will be at the major. Then do the exact opposite.
Richard has me laughing within the first 5 seconds of the video. Love you man.
25:15 oh so Rainbow 6's system- you get points off where you finish in your regional league, the majors, and at the end of the season the top 16 teams across the world go to the invitational (plus 4 LCQs)
@Richard Lewis i dont know if you talked about it but is there gonna be a No Majors Club for this major or nah ?
Loved your nuanced take on this.
The one where they could still access the internet through steam friends sounds like they just set up a firewall rule to block tcp connections but forgot about udp
I liked the old system... Legends of previous major as long as they won like 1 game or something continued to be Legends. So usually teams in playoff were in next major and every region played closed qualifiers for Challengers, but most teams had to play open qualifieers to qual for the closed qual or other teams based on their performance and standings and shit got invites to qualifiers!
1:36:00 - 1:37:00 legit made my day lol
My only wish you contineu great work. Big thanks
Idk about the qualifying argument. Using your world cup comparison, you could say the same about the European play-offs where Portugal and Italy were in the same path and Italy even lost in a bo1 against North Macedonia, giving Portugal a free pass to the world cup after choking their group to Serbia
Football is a best of one. Its a completely different kind of game. The two are not comparable.
More over, in what world would Brazil, Portugal, England, Spain and France not qualify and Moldova, San Marino, Georgia, Wales and Northern Ireland do qualify?
Show me the world cup where that was true, I will wait...
i don't know about you Rich, but i fucking love watching bo1s between The Mongolz and GamerLegion. There is no tier 2 in Ba Sing Se. :|
10/10 video , 10/10 banter
Love that you still do this great content pls keep going!!! (and thx for showing us that blast did a shit job)
Yes richard lad you know the score
56:00 WOW HADES SO GOOD NOW , not winning a single game and going 0.88rating , it wasn't a fluke that 9-9 qualified to the legends stage :)
Bro the network admins at the RMRs must be actual volunteers from highschool. The way you set up network restrictions, like I don't know, taking away internet access, should NEVER be on the PC level, which by them saying it was an issue with the SSDs being plugged in shows they did it that way. You always need to set that up in the networking closet, on whatever switches you use for the PCs.
holy fuck i couldn't stop laughing, thanks for the upload Mr. Lewis

Fully agree. We have to reset the format to an overall success rate. It would be if Leeds made the Champions leagues spot based on playing two games, one at home vs Lester and another against Brentford and they make it to a playoff run VS like Arsenal like the matches you played in the league don't matter.
into my britches FUCKING killed me HAHAHA
35:05 This has been something on my mind for a long time lol
Marble statue dude 🗿
I donno I'm from London and If I didn't understand that caster from the clip either....are we sure that was English ?
I understand that CS is different from the NBA (of course) but it’s not like the team that wins the NBA finals just gets a bye straight to the playoffs next season to defend their championship, they have to earn their way back. I don’t find it to be the most mind blowing concept that a similar premise has been implemented with the majors.
The major now feels like a big tournament. Thats about it. And its hyped.
But it sucks ass
It’s hard for you to keep up with your own thoughts. That’s killer lmao
There is 2 solutions to the system that are so easy...
Either continue with the shit no seeding format, but every game is bo3. Miracle runs still possible, but not as likely.
Or simply use the hltv ranking. Which isn't perfect as that's a long time for some teams... But 2 majors a year, it would benefit teams active (and winning) since last major if you really want to keep bo1 early why is it so hard
26:00 holy shit, i forgot it used to be done that way. Amazing how quickly we can forget, that fucking pandemic ruined everything, including our concept of time itself.
1:10:19 I'll be honest, I rarely watch pro games with volumes (and rarely watch pro cs in general right now), but for me that accent is pretty jarring and I do have trouble understanding what he's saying (however, I was born and raised in Canada, so I have limited exposure to European accents).
Obviously if I pay attention I can figure it out, but if I'm passively watching it would be hard.
Alright, I've listened to the clip 3 times now and I've got the accent down. I retract my statement.
Sorry, I don't understand the kebab issue. What was going on there?
Pain would comfortably beat Complexity in a Bo3. Would have put them in being 2nd or 3rd in the RMR for NA.
Still giving a shit here, loving the content Rich.
I do care!
40:45 *FOREBODING*
So disappointing knowing the teams already in the legends stage that any slipups by the favourites early on will ruin playoffs
"Into my britches, goes... a big pile of shit."
That's what I say.
Wasn't RMR a makeshift solution to COVID restrictions on LAN tournaments? Why is it still around?
At 26 minutes you say something about not knowing why we moved away from the point system for rmrs. I do want to mention that thorin and some others on a show of his, mentioned wanting to get rid of the point system and switch to a one tournament just before the major to qualify system. So in other words the system we have now.
They raised some pretty valid points. However this isn't their vision this is utter garbage , I do believe it CAN be done right, and that with proper seeding, and best of 3s, maybe even a different format, that this would potentially be better than the point system.
However now we managed to get something worse than the point system, thanks valve
Also it's crazy how we went from inviting playoff teams who didn't deserve a direct invite to the old legends stage. Such as the polish v pro over and over unreservedly invited to the major. To now many years later the opposite extreme of not even inviting the champion
LOL Richard reading those Turkish comments and chuckling was hilarious
GamerLegion making it to the grand finals was too fucking funny. Made for one funny as fuck semi finals.
Associating doner kebab with turks - racism
Not associating doner kebab with turks - cultural appropriation
tldr fuck turks?
1:02:46 legit rant here. I know its a healthy thing to generally ignore morons hiding behind anonymity but to go out of your way and criticize play by play shoutcasting or color commentary is hillarious. I've only done some volunteer casting for Quake and it was so mentally draining. To be doing it hours on end is a feat.
1:24:18 tbh Richard, i think his questions were too "guided" for the interviewee.
No VP, no Spirit, no C9, sadge
CS:GO goes out the way it came in, as the handicapped step-child of Valve. Inglorious to the last
I haven't heard of half these teams, not following the scene so closely since the Saudi money moved in...
Facts
i dont play cs or anything but i thought the cs scene had their shit together. apparently not jesus christ lol, esports will never be taken seriously and for good reason, i thought cs was the best version of an esport we had to offer, wow
WANKS WANKS WANKS
tried to check out the discord. too many finns.
I don't know why? Just use the HLTV rating. It's better than this swiss system. Half of these teams nobody cares about, cause we have never seen them play
Giannis antekumpo - the best greek player ever and maybe the best Nigerian play ever - just gave a 'losers interview' that made the whole sports media ecosystem re evaluate how they judge seasons(for like a week, they're going to forget again).
You can get good stuff from them. The player looked like a petulant child and didn't even have the cleverness to do a Rasheed wallace 'both teams played hard' or a Marshawn 'I'm just here so I don't get find' lynch response. Just looked like a whiny baby.
Giannis is not better than Hakeem.
People are unreal these days
If u was there it would been much better tbh

The most egregious thing about the major is how they use the results of the challenger's stage to seed the legend's stage and then use the legend's stage to seed the playoffs. There's no nuance. No acknowledgement that top tier teams perform better on stage in front of a crowd. They also don't care about consistency. This format treats a team that has been top 3 for 2 years the same as a team ranked no. 55 and it's their first major.
No respect to the fact that most of the Legend's teams have never won a tier 1 title and a lot of them haven't even been to the playoffs of one.
lmao Faze got lowest seed, and now they have to play the real heavy hitters: monte and pain. who were obviously the strongest teams in the challenger stage. the seeding is so shit that it went once around the entire shit spectrum and it accidentally gave faze a reasonable bracket.
the whole system is a joke. the RMRs were fed with bullshit initial seeding, and the combination of buchholz and BO1 just amplified the bullshit tenfold. and if that wasn't bad enough, the amplified bullshit is now being fed into the bullshit amplifier all over again.
@@givemeajackson I also love how Twistzz is trying to play the "underdog" card in his interviews now saying "yeah, we're technically underdogs as we have the lowest seeding, so we can be considered such against any opponents, cuz all of 'em have a higher seeding" 😁 LMAO, I mean FFS: are we ACTUALLY considering FaZe (top-5 team in the world atm, btw) being "underdogs" against top-30 teams at this event? Like WTF r u on, m8? 😂
as always... gold, dark gold maybe but gold nonetheless
#lovemarblestatues
CSGO getting the scene it deserves.
i do care, i've been barely avoiding an aneurysm seeing the idiots claim this system is good.
Haven't cared to follow CS for a long time. Great video covering up all the dumbness Rich 😂👍
Yeah CS has had a rough 5 years
@@CatnamedMittens It isn't even that the game has been rough (which it indeed has been). I stopped playing the game a long while ago, so I don't have that point of interest to watch games anymore. Also the game has been really stale imo for a long time. Same teams are playing against each other constantly. And as Rich has said multiple times the overall ceiling of CS is not that high currently.
@@KingOfBlades27 I agree with pretty much all of that.
I have not listened to it but complexity beating pain in BO3 for sure ?
Really Richard ? Complexity ? Pain has beaten good EU teams and beaten Liquid twice in BO3 so yea really poor analysis there
Fair enough. Underestimated them it seems.
"Pansey sound's like a boy" 😂😂😂😂😂
