Loving these mate - I'm a DIYer who had a crack at building a small extension the other year, so it's fun to see the things you did differently and the stuff we do the same! Gonna be doing the groundworks for my 6m * 8m monster next!
Hi Tony great to see you again it’s amazing what pride and Care you take when you’re measuring I love it when the digger comes out take care stay safe excellent video 👍
I’m sure you’re aware of this, but for anyone watching, hoping to pick up some tips, be very careful when squaring up anything, not to assume something is square bcz you have like diagonal measurements. An isosceles trapezoid will have like diagonals but also not have a single square corner. Always best to take the extra 30 seconds and do the calculation (a²+b²=c²), so that you know what the diagonal measurement should truly be. It’s foolproof every time.
exactly! don't tell them that he thinks he knows it al, .you can tell by his commanding authoritative tone. Easier to set up timber profile to set out as well, plenty of room there. once footing is in they will have to go through all that again for the walls!
I'll probably never get to set out footings as it not a requirement in the decorating trade but never the less found your vid really interesting; keep doing it fella!
I am going to have a rear storey extension within 3 months cos I have quite a large garden but quite a small kitchen. I am doing it as an investment as well. My kitchen is old, 30 years old, so it's a good time to put in a modern kitchen.
What i would give for that weather Tony. Another great video i mark mine out the same apart from i mark out the inside and outside of the trenches. Everything else i do the same mate . Great explanation and very professional as usual great video. Take care stay safe Justin brickright 👍
Hi Justin roll on the summer, love your extension videos them doors will be delivered soon had the same issue some time ago have a awesome week all the best Tony 👍
Tony ur stuffs Brilliant, but a had to laugh when u were splitting hairs over the parallels and diagonal then u pulled out the 10mm yellow marker..comedy classic 🤠 keep up the good work.
Hi Stevie 😂 I know what you mean but it just wouldn’t feel right it would go against the grain kind you with my eyes digging I need all the help I can to see it all the best Tony 👍
If the two lines are parallel why don't you cut a piece of string tie a running knot and slide it on your lines to the measurement tighten it off at the correct measurement saves knocking the pins in and same accuracy
Is there any reason you didn't take half the thickness of the external cavity wall construction, take that from the external dims and mark out the footings that way if all you marked out was the center?
Hi Stephen you can but I just like to do it a certain way and also explaining to a novice it gives them a better understanding of the process, the one thing that was always taught to me was to watch and learn certain methods and adapt and make it work for you and I still do this today thanks for watching all the best Tony 👍 have a awesome weekend
Great information tony cheers, I have a concrete slab 13 ‘ x 10’ over 30 years old, can’t afford to remove it, but want to increase the thickness 2” to level it, your views on do I need to prime the old one first before adding ballast ?
Hi Blue Boy make sure it’s good and clean if required scarify the floor the use P Primer and then there is a leveling compound you can buy which will go up to 50mm or use screed and fibre hope this helps but ask a local builder or building control to have a look if required all the best Tony 👍 have a awesome week
This bloke talks and I listen, he has a good positive attitude.
Thanks for watching David! 👍
Centre lines for footings keeps it simple without pegs and profiles to keep knocking over , Good stuff as always A & E .
Hi Spartrowel I like to keep it simple sometimes I think it’s easy to over think the job in hand all the best Tony 👍
