      Why because when block paving is removed setting out lines will be lost?-madness to me.

    I think paradoxically, because you're sharing your wisdom and knowledge, it will drive business to you much more because people see it's not easy, rather than increase the number of DIY jobs.

    I'd dug the footing out first and concrete in, before acrows and taking walls out

    Does the line paint still work best without slabs, if it’s just raw ground?

  • @geoffnewman3109
    @geoffnewman3109 Před 3 lety +1

    Surely you take up the slabs before marking out the footings?

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Geoff,
      On this particular job, we decided it was best to leave the slabs down. This way we could mark out the footings, cut the slabs exactly where we need to, and then the footings could be dug out leaving the surrounding area covered.
      This meant that the site was not a mud bath, and gave us a nice area to work on 👷🏼‍♂️
      Hope this helps.
      All the best, John 😊

    Thanks guys for this brilliant video, Ive just got a question, from the yellow line you will take 300 mm left side and 300 mm right side? so 600 mm foundation?

  • @MagnetechSolidSolutions

    Where did you get your excess imperial bricks??

  • @pelvi3a
    @pelvi3a Před 4 lety +1

    Would u not be better to lift the paving slabs first before marking this out?

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi pelvi3a we could of, but sometimes we have to evaluate all factors, site access regarding mud transfer, loads on to surface’s, digger tracks for level making easier dig and dumper taking mud away plus it was easier to show the process on slabs. Thanks for watching keep Safe all the best Tony 👍

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  Před 4 lety +4

      Hi pelvi3a,
      We kept the slabs down so we would have solid ground underfoot during the digging out stage. If you check out our extension build series, you can see that we mark out and then use a petrol saw to cut out just the right amount of slabs to get the digger bucket in the footings. This meant that we weren't walking mud everywhere, as the majority of slabs were still down.
      Hope this answers your question?
      All the best, John 😊

    Could you just use a total station

    • @BuildWithAE
      @BuildWithAE  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Jonathan,
      You could potentially use a total station to mark out footings. However, as they are relatively expensive pieces of equipment, this technique would be a more widely used option.
      Hope this helps.
      Thanks for watching, all the best, John 😊
