    I did this last week, and did it the hard way by cutting off the connector from the pioneer speaker and soldering it to the new speaker so i could connect it directly into the existing plug in the dash. It works but so much more work than what you've done. Wish you had done this video last week.

    • @SaabUnleashed
      @SaabUnleashed  Před 2 lety

      That's a very clever way of doing it too

    • @DougSims
      @DougSims Před 2 lety

      Strange coincidence. I also replaced mine last week and moved the speaker plug from the stock speakers to the new ones. However, I picked coaxial speakers that have a tweeter sticking up and they interfere with the grills. So take care to choose some like this video that are more flush with the top.

    You can make a short adapter cable with a female and male contact if you don’t want to cut the off the original connector. That’s what I did. Then it’s easy to get back to stock if you want to.

    Thumbs up on the camera angles. I would have liked your option on the sound from the speakers. What I did notice is it looks like the new speaker is higher than the original and causes the speaker cover to not fit flush.

    • @SaabUnleashed

    Very nice and clear video's you have. They give a good insight, thnx for that. I have a question as I am thinking about replacing all speakers in my 2008 9-3 convertible. For dashboard you used the Alpine SXE-0825S. How is your experience so far? Do you like them? As I would like to use one brand for all speakers could the Alpine SXE-1325S be used in the back of the car and the SXE1725S in the door panels? What do you think?

  • @shakeelfaris7623
    @shakeelfaris7623 Před 29 dny

    I know you have not done a video covering the door speaker upgrade on the vert. But I've come across a real bug bear. The door cards just don't seem to want to sit on flush. Specifically the hook just above and below the speaker. Any tips? I had thought that maybe the speaker flange was fouling something on the door card. Car is a 2008 NG 93 vert.

    En-joying (!) your videos, great job!
    Did this a few years ago, this would be the first and inexpensive sound system upgrade. Installed a pair of cheap "Kicker" replacing the "Bose" oem upgraded sound package (rubbish) speakers.
    The convertible is easier to do this with better access.

      @@SaabUnleashed IMHO - very overrated. Like most Bose equipment (I've seen) barely ok loudspeakers that are tuned by eq to sound a bit better/ok. But the ones I replaced in the 9-3 dash were puny, and the sound picture was much improved with a pair of decent speakers...

    I have a 2008 Aero 2.0T and have a tweeter small speaker connected to the same speaker as you have. (you have 1 and I have 2 speakers there). Just replaced the right speaker and compared the left old one with the new one. The old speaker is a lot better. Unfortunately, I need to fix wires now to install the old speaker back.

    • @SaabUnleashed
      @SaabUnleashed  Před 2 lety

      You have the premium component speaker setup. These cheap Alpines are probably equivalent to what you have, they're not an upgrade. What aspect of the sound are you unhappy with on the stock speakers?

      @@SaabUnleashed
      I need more bass and was trying to upgrade dash speakers. I was sure I have similar speakers to you. Do you think the issue is in the quality of the Alpine speaker? Something like Hertz or JBL will be better? In standard dash speakers in my Saab tweeters are next to bigger speakers but no extra part to split signal as you have in more expensive component sets with crossover to split the signal between tweeter and mid-range .

    • @SaabUnleashed
      @SaabUnleashed  Před 2 lety +1

      @@monstermask3212011 you will never get bass from the dash speakers, they are insufficient in size to reproduce lower frequencies. They are for the highs and mids. The door speakers are your first point of call for lows, you can get bassier speakers, or you can install under seat subwoofer or a proper sub or 6x9s in the back, I've done a couple of videos on these options

    I could be wrong but when you look at the speaker connector in the picture position, the polarities seem to be swapped.

    • @SaabUnleashed
      @SaabUnleashed  Před 2 lety

      I'm not sure about that, but even if that was the case, both speakers have matching polarities and it wouldn't make any difference to the sound on a speaker of this size

    • @terranoxsi
      @terranoxsi Před 2 lety

      @@SaabUnleashed That's true. And if all speakers are connected with the same polarity then there is no negative impact.

    and if i were to upgrade those speakers what would i buy? i do want to add a sub in the trunk! and i will be using the ATOTO S8 ULTRA which has 4ch preouts and also a Sub preout.

    Hallo und vielen Dank für den Beitrag. Ich frage mich, warum man nicht etwas mehr Geld ausgibt und wirklich gute Lautsprecher einbaut? Alpine Lautsprecher sind untere Mittelkasse! Wenn man wirklich am Klang arbeitet, sollte man auf Audio System oder Eton Lautsprecher gehen. Dann erlebt man Klangerlebnis pur. Man muss natürlich sehen in welchem Lautsprechermaß hier gearbeitet wird, bei der Größe ist es schwer guten Klang zu erwerben, aber genau aus dem Grund sollte man auch echte gute Lautsprecher kaufen und nicht Äpfel gegen Birnen tauschen.
