Hey all! Hope you enjoy the video. Unfortunately it looks like a new HDMI ribbon did not solve my air vent/signal problem 🤦🏻♂️ looks like I’m going to be doing some more troubleshooting before reinstalling. Moral of the story: make sure you cut your air vent!!
We'll get it sorted, don't worry :)
I used a HDMI noise filter and that pretty much fixed those issues for me!

This is something that I was gonna do with my ICM3. Ended up selling the car before I had the chance to do it! Stewart did such an amazing job at making this look OEM!!

I did mine about 6 months ago, but with android, I couldn’t get the Bluetooth to connect to my galaxy phone so just used the usb to connect my phone, it works fine and is a great bit of kit.
I also cut the section off the air vent so had no problems with the hdmi ribbon. Awesome mod for any older Saab 93. Great and informative video.

This is an amazing result. Just to mention whoever tries this on his own never use longer ribbon than the one suggested. Anything more than 20cm creates problem with the signal. Also in most cases you will need a filter between the sound card and the aux to get rid of high pitch noise.

I've got one of these, did go through a state of not connecting but been great apart from that. Snapped my ribbon cable putting it back in, really fragile cables. Stu did the video for the light saab sils, look awesome. He's got a massive backlog now after his post so gonna have to wait. The guy what designs then will do anything you want all custom made.

You have a tendency to upload a video covering exactly what I'm about to do with my 9-3. I literally just bought the components after watching his video.
The exact same thing happened when I needed to change the thermostat. I buy it, 3 days later you make a video about it.

Nice mod Jake. Suggest first move the headunit in, route the
wiring harness, then the acc unit. With 2 fingers up and 2
down you find the perfect space for all the headunit cables.

I have a 9-3 se convertible with the original stock head unit. I’ve been dying to do an upgrade like this. I’ve seen some people put the original Saab gps unit in the car. Takes a bit of rewiring, but hey! You get that glorious blue and red griffin on start up.

I had a mint '05 9-3 turbo. Stereo replacement screwed the computer up so bad. I put stock back in, ran perfect. Went on Amazon got Bluetooth wireless FM transmitter. DO THAT BEFORE RIPPING YOUR Saaaaaab dashboard apart. Unless you're cool and need BASS that wakes the dead.
The transmitters are meh. I’d say just get the actual integrated aux or Bluetooth because that’s much better for quality!
Those dropped bolts can come back to hunt you if it starts to rattle while driving 😁 usually it is enough to remove side cover either passenger side or driver side and you can find the 🔩. Also small tip, you should use a towel to cover gear shifter and any other surface. These saab panels are really easy to scratch.

In such events I place one of these magnetic telescope tools next to the screws I want to take off. If there is space enough the cloth option as mentioned here I use also in advance
Already following him Jacob.....he has a great replacement for my 06 on 9-5 that has a 10" screen + you can still use the factory cup holder (which is usually a problem with the large display units....he is a top bloke 👍👍👍

Hello, thank you for this great tutorial. I just need to ask you some questions.
1. I have ICM3 build in my car from factory. In it I have Saabs original navigation. If I do this change to my ICM3 will I lose access to my original navigation? Am guessing YES I WILL. What happens to radio? Do I have access to my radio?
2. When this modification is made with ICM3 is it connected to the audio system so the voice from the new navigation comes through cars speakers ,right?

I’d recommend a proper soldered connection for the 12v. And an in-line fuse.

Would it be possible to retrofit a 2009 Saab 9-3 Facelift YS3F that has the regular radio (no screen) with the original SAAB GPS Navigation/Radio screen found on the newer variants of the 9-3 Facelift YS3F (2010 and up)

Good video :) I am in the process of collecting bits for my own build. How about the RBP case being just tossed inside the dashboard when it comes to its running temperature? Doesn't it overheat given it sits in a confined space, surrounded with a shell of dark/black plastic? Have you had the chance to try it out in high ambient temps (not sure what temps you get where you live in January).
I have not. I live in phoenix so it’ll get really hot during the summer. Guess we’ll see lol

Trouble with many of us with Saab's is a seemingly dead head unit that is ACTUALLY a dead Amp 1 unit under the driver's seat. This won't fix that, but it's fun to watch.
AMP1 can also be the cause of parasitic draws 👍🏼

Good video! I have a problem with the original radio/navigation unit in my Saab 9-3 2007. Maybe you can help me! When the radio is on, FM, the setting will switch from FM to AUX and back again. It makes me crazy. I have cleaned the screen with alcohol but the problem persists. Do you have any idea what this is and how to fix it? Kind regards Kobus the Netherlands.👍🤠👋

Hi from Latvia. I have a question, is it possible to install a radio from 2009 in a Saab 9-3 2003? I kind of heard that this way you can bypass the standard amplifier, but for this you need some kind of transition frame from 2009 ... what kind of transition frame is it and will it work at all?

Hello, I just finished my modification and I would like to ask, if it is somehow possible to reduce the brightness of the display? After putting the new display in the ICM3 the pcb-board is bend a bit, is that normal and could that cause issues?
good question. It might be best to reach out to Stuart on his channel and ask. I haven't reinstalled the unit since the cable broke, but i bet there is a way to do it
Iv got pre faclift with faclift dash If they make one for faclift dash I'll buy one but iv got stock screen n like the look of it aftermarket ones look tacky in my opinion unless it's like this one looks stock with extra features
agreed; i debated putting an aftermarket one in my TX but it was hard to find a unit that didn't look tacky!

Unfortunately he no longer offers the complete kit due to parts becoming expensive. He has detailed videos on his channel for how to build it and what parts you need though!

No, but you can put just about any aftermarket head unit in one of those

Yea the Icm3 will fit
If you dare, put the microphone under the top of the gauge cluster shroud, as far back as it will go. It reduces noise interference and is in direct line with your mug.
If it’s directly in my line of sight while driving it might bother me haha. I’ll have to mess around with that!

Does it lag much? Would really like to do this mod but I’m a bit sceptical about the performance. I really don’t want to spend 600€ on a system that lags :D

In my experience, there is no real lag when using this. There's a a few videos of it in use on my channel and there are quite a few out in the wild, so you can talk to owners.
If you order the kit directly from me, you can get a 10% discount from the ebay price (because I don't need to pay eBay fees and pass that saving on to you). So the cost is £504. That price also includes shipping to Finland.
As long as your ICM3 works now, it doesn't matter what you have connected in your car. If you wanted to, you could leave the Pioneer in your car. You're not changing anything with this mod except for the screen of the ICM3.
