    I have an original black monster from 2005 or so. It is still great. I had to put some enamel paint on two of the black markers of the bezel next to the lume pip. I got two Heimdallr monsters. They are less finished, IMHO. For example, I cut my finger on the really sharp crown guard on one of them. The crown is kind of a grainy feel too. They have awesome lume though. For being so cheap, I can't complain

    Very in depth and polished review😉 (No pun intended!) My suspicions have been confirmed, Hemidallr have really taken this homage thing to another level👍.Before I picked an Orange and Blue up, I bought a Heimdallr Pro-master Fugu in green about six months ago. I had previously owned the NY0040-09W fully lumed so had a good idea on the required fit and finish I felt the Heimdallr was good but not quiet Carling" But this however is a 98.9 out of a hundred beautiful watch.

    I have one of each and enjoy wearing both of them. I honestly don't care about the minor differences because the Heimdallr has it's merits and my Seiko is unique...all that matters is I love them both. Good review!

    🎼 I have bought 7 different Seiko Monster watches, plus 3 Seiko Frankenmonster's as well over many yrs. I recently saw the Himidallr for a little over $100.00 with a $20.00 dollar coupon. I'm so glad I did, saved a lot
    of dollars for basically the same watch. They do need more colors, but so far a great piece.

  • @BCallum

    With Seikos QC issues, I'd rather buy the better watch. Seiko got me twice. Heimdallr all the way! I'm not buying another Seiko. Well, maybe the SRPC91 "IF" I get it in hand before I pay for it. Will not buy another misaligned Seiko.

    Now this one Sir is Interesting as I own 3 x Gen 1 Seiko Monsters (2 Black and One Orange Dial) Why? Because they are a Prerequisite for any Seiko Collector but also A Classic Diver so I made sure I had Stock and also Just because I can😜
    The Heimdallr Without Doubt is an impressive Homage and definitely has the Goods to compete with an Original Monster Gen 1

  • @RaphaelRousseau
    @RaphaelRousseau Před 3 lety +7

    Both are so close that the Heimdallr isn't an homage anymore... This is an issue since it's a clear infringement of Seiko's intellectual property :-(
    Imagine that every Seiko model is cloned that far, it would lead to the death of great horological brands. No more R&D, since Seiko wouldn't be able to recoup their investment...
    I'm just wondering how far homage brands can go.

    • @brainwoodman1646

      Well, the seiko gen 2 is out of production. If seiko offered the gen 2 with sapphire for even a bit more than the Heimdallr, I’m sure most people would go for the real thing.

      Back up your statement about IP infringement with facts. With respect, you don’t know what you’re talking about. In order for there to be infringement, they would have to be a violation of someone’s copyright. Generally there are no copyrights on styles of watch faces and cases.

    I consider buying the Heimdallr monster but instead I bought the two new fourth generation Save the Ocean Antarctica Monsters SBDY105 and SBDY115. I also added the Seiko baby tuna SBDY055. These three purchases definitely satisfied my Seiko monster itch or craving. I am still curious about these Heimdallr monsters though and they definitely seem legit . You have missed some very important points with this comparison. I have owned 4 Monsters - The Original Black & Orange & The 2nd-Gen Dracula, & Black Monster. The 1st thing i noticed was the differences in the Cases between the Seiko Gen 1& Gen2 - Which IS - the Hoods on the cases. In the Gen1Black & Orange Monster, the hood, esp. at the 12 O'Clock position, the bit that pricks fingers is filed or smoothed round. On the Gen.2 Monsters it is sharp & Does prick fingers if you don't grip it right. Same with the Heimdallr. The Heimdallr IS A Nice Watch, sure, but the handset plus the odd-shaped lower scalloping on the bezel are A SURE Deal-Breaker for me. But your Videos arw VERY well done & your ReSearch us Impeccable!

    • @TheWatcherReviews
      @TheWatcherReviews  Před 3 lety

      Hey Bruce, thank you for that, yes i would assume there would have been a couple subtle differences between gen 1 & gen 2 but I have not owned a gen 2. I think the scallops are a nice touch as the gen 4 has even narrower almost bullet tip scallops. Ultimately yes the heimdallr has been done to a very high level. Thank you for your comments Bruce, appreciate them and always appreciate input from genuine enthusiasts!

    The squarer grooves instead of the funnel shapes on the heimdallr are the result of better machining. The heimdallr bezel grooves are quite far out of alignment with the grooves in the case as well. This lets the watch down.

      @TheWatcherReviews  Před 3 lety +1

      They're definitely not and there is a clear cut difference. San martin are made in the lugyou factory. Let's say they are all made in the same place, but they are different in finishing. You get what you pay for, so the finishing isn't the same across all three brands. Some watches maybe very similar but on the whole, there is a difference.
