Kattapa's ancestors pledged their life to the throne. Kattapa is just keeping up that promise. Basically they have to be loyal to whoever sits on the throne as king, keeping aside their like or dislike to the king.

His foster parents named him Shiva after the god. His biological grandmother named him Mahendra Bahubali after his biological father, Amarendra Bahubali. Bahubali means 'one with strong arms'. Katappa didn't see his face until he looked at him. He is basically a carbon copy of his father.

and haven't you guys realized that Kattapa didn't really saw him until that moment and when they were fighting he had mud on his face so he couldn't really see his face until the rain comes and clears his face, that's when Kattapa saw his face and realized who he is

And since he had that mud over his face...kattappa culdnt see shiva clearly to recognise him as bahubali...thats why devasena kept on panting to tell kattappa not to attack

For this movie most of the theaters in India were upgraded to 4K but the quality in which you guys were watching is low so you might not get that feel

That red thing is saffron used in food like biriyani and also added as a top layer in sweets.Saffron is suppose to be royal and hence the sword was covered in saffron.(Once my friend argued its red mirchi powder but its not🤣🤣)

So this prince died but his father Bhallaldev the king is still alive and even if he dies someone else will be the King or Queen and Kattapa will protect them.
The only way he can be free is if he dies or Maheshmati Kingdom collapses and everything is dust, but that too would be depressing for him
