That 2014 LA Kings run, including that comeback against SJ - will always be one of the greatest I've ever seen. The season itself, was one of the most completive NHL seasons in a long while - the fact LA came on top despite only being a #6 seed in the West, and having 0 home ice advantage until the Final, shows you how insane their run was.
The 2013-2014 season was one of the best NHL seasons.
Christ we've come very far indeed if 2013 is getting the nostalgic treatment, 2.72 goals per game...

Unfortunately the Leafs are done like a dog's dinner. They might win Game 4 to make the series more respectable. But I say, they're done in 5 games. Hockey in Florida, that doesn't even make much sense. It will be at least 30 years since a Canadian team has one Lord Stanley's Cup. In the past from 1984-1993 (the Oilers won it all in '84, '85, '87, '88, '90 / the Canadiens in '86 & '93 / the Flames in '89) There hasn't been a Canadian Stanley Cup Champion since 1993. A total of 8 Canadian Stanley Cups in 10 years. Atfer 1993 - nothing to show for it.

How the hell did the Panthers get by the Boston Bruins? I'm excited to see how Cole Caufield & Nick Suzuki play together in 2023/24. We'll see if Cole can finally score 50 goals and break the long curse of Stephane Richer scoring 50 goals in 1987/88 and 51 goals in 1989/90.

I was 10 years old when i saw the leafs win the Stanley cup on a black and white TV in 1967…I moved to Seattle 20 years ago and stayed here…now I’m a kraken fan and they are riding their own wave and seattle in its 2nd year is getting a really good fan base and the building was beast-mode earthquake like as the kraken scored 4-goals on 4 shots in the 2nd period ..and the place went ballistic….Steve was right…the leafs blew game 2 and got too happy that they finally won round 1 and forgot the mission is to advance to the Stanley Cup finals and have a chance to win the cup! Leaf nation is about to jump off a cliff again if and when Florida beats them again

As a die hard panthers fan from south Florida, we know exactly what leaf fans are going through right now. Last year we won our first series since the 90s just to get swept by the lightning right away. Cherish that first round victory

I gotta say as a diehard Bruins fan, the fact that Toronto is also having a horrible time playing the Panthers means a lot. That's a very sneaky team over there from the Sunshine state. The B's ending made me sick to my stomach. But the fact that FLA keeps winning makes me feel like it wasn't as horrifying a choke as it seemed to be in the 1st round. The Stanely Cup Playoffs are the "box of chocolates" of all major sports. "You never know what you're gonna get."

How many teams since 2019 have won the president trophy , then won the cup the next year? I have this theory that teams are realizing that the regular season doesn't matter and is doing just enough to get in, then turning it on in the playoffs.

What sucks about sports is every year there’s 1 winner and 31 losers. They’re designed to break your heart. Reminder that hockey is an entertainment product, and if it’s affecting you in a negative way, there’s no shame in taking a step back.
I have had to do this, just recently. After the first round I was so invested that my emotions were a wreck. Coming to terms with the fact that there's a VERY high chance that they're not making it through to the next round has been hard but necessarily. We have to let go of things we have no control over!

Oilers fan here, This is what most of us expected honestly. Breaking the first round curse took both an emotional and physical toll not just you as as fans, but the players too. If management can resist the urge to trade away your top core guys and retool for next season your run next year will be not to break the first round curse but to go deep. Winning in round 1 next year will not be pure ecstasy but relief followed by determination. Stay strong.
As a leafs fan I admire your team. Your best players can take over a game cause they actually card. Mcdavid and Drai and 1000x then all all good players if you can even call them good. Even with absolutely no one contributing on the bottom 2 lines for the avalanche, MacKinnon, Rantanen, and Makar all contributed significantly in their first round loss. The leafs really need their top players to actually contribute this series.

I'm an Oilers fan to and have been watching this series as well. I'm so sad for my family and friends in Toronto that are suffering through this. It would not be so painful to watch, if the majority of the team actually tried/cared enough to put forward a strong effort - even with a loss. I obviously don't know for sure if that was the Leaf's best effort - but it sure did not appear to be in this game 3. It's seems that the dream of an all Canadian final are dashed for now. Hope Leaf's can win back some respect and put in a solid effort for Game 4 - even if they lose Game 4.
Physical toll? From what? If you think that the Leafs are beaten up after the first round, then you have zero idea of what physical hockey is.

It’s terrifying. But a deeper, dreadful part of you wonders how much foundational damage there’s gonna be after this storm has fully blown over.
