4 Years in Cyprus: My Honest Review

- Join me for a day in the life in Cyprus. I'm doing a VLOG where I talk about my honest review about living in Cyprus for 4 years.
I am driving to Limassol, I meet some people and along the way I talk about living costs, tax benefits, climate, religion, lifestyle, quality of life and much more.
Cyprus is a beautiful European country in the Mediterranean region, and I moved here in 2019. Until then, I saw a lot of the good and some bad things here.
So I also talk about the negative side and some common myths about Cyprus that people talk about, but I don't agree with.
It's definitely very interesting, and I'm excited to share it with you. As always, thanks for watching! :)

I'm a Cypriot and another negative thing you haven't covered up is the road accidents. Alot of deaths in Cyprus occur because of car or motorbike accidents, they aren't careful here and they often drive very fast so you have to watch your foot when you step on the road. We have the second highest mortality rate by road accidents in Europe.
Thanks
Hello my friend! I am Cypriot and I feel happy when foreigners visit or stay to Cyprus 🇨🇾 And that's because we are usually not satisfied with life here and we are surprised when foreigners do like it here! Thank you for reminding me how beautiful life is here in Cyprus threw your honest video! 🙏🏻❤😊
That comment makes me happy, I appreciate it a lot. You're welcome and all the best to you!🏝
As a British Cypriot all we dream about us coming home. Be thankful you live paradise 😂
Great video Rico, I moved to Cyprus 6 months ago, and part of the decision was due to your videos that I watched before coming here. Like in any country, there are good and bad things. But overall, it's a good place to be living in. Hope to get a beer or a coffee with you sometime soon. I am also in Paphos, the best area in Cyprus in my opinion. Take care!
Hey, what a beautiful comment, thank you. Makes me very happy and also a little proud to read that the videos help people with such a big and emotional step. I will surely see you around in Paphos, I'm outside very often. Talk to me when you see me! :)
Hey Rico, thank you for your videos, I've been watching them for quite a time and finally I moved to Cyprus as well, I'm here for 2 months already, so thank you for all the knowledge you are sharing with us!
Hey Anton, amazing to hear that and thank you for your support. Welcome to Cyprus and all the best to you. Maybe see you on the streets one day!
You’re absolutely right - corruption is a worldwide problem, not just one country. Although there are some countries I can think of which are more notorious than others, Cyprus certainly is not one of them!
Bureaucracy! We all tear our hair out because of bureaucracy. All in all, apart from prices and the increase in the cost of living Cyprus still sounds a great place to live.
Thanks for the videos.
Thanks for your comment! Glad to hear some similar opinions. Enjoy your weekend!
Keep up the awesome content Rico !!
Thank you!
Great, as always!
Thank you!🙂🙏
Thanks for the videos! Moving to Limassol on July 2nd. To be honest, I didn't study Cyprus very well. So, little nervous about the move from Seattle 🌧️☔. Close to my home; Jordan. Your videos show it's a great place. I feel better about my move.
Hey, thank you. Glad to hear this. That was the goal! :) We're excited to have you on the island.
@@Rico thanks :)
as someone who grew up in Cyprus and now live abroad I enjoy your insights and objective 'reporting'. I share your frustration regarding the bureaucracy as my son's name was also changed in a similar way to your and now he has problems here where we live...the 'it does not matter' attitude has to change! ;-)
May I ask why you moved abroad ? I'm a Greek expat living in Germany since 2012 and consider to relocated again
Nice video mann heheh! Liked this
Hey! Very glad to hear that, thank you for your comment, makes me happy!😊
Well,, you have reminded me the good memories of four years of my stay in Cyprus when I was studying there. Believe me in general the Cypriot🇨🇾 are very nice people and I am still connected to my Cypriot friends and colleagues although I have left Cyprus since 10 years.
Long live Cyprus.
Amazing story! Cyprus will be happy to have you back one day.
@@Rico I hope so my friend, indeed I miss it too,, and if it happens I would like to see you there and to be with you in a vlog as well.
amazing video my man!
Thank you!
Great video!! Keep your good work pls :) Take care Rico!
Thank you! Will do, I enjoy it very much, and I love all the positive feedback as this one, thanks! :)
@@Rico pls do a video about public school in Cyprus! Thanks so much.
Hi Rico. I discovered Cyprus way back in 1968 when I did a tour of duty there with the RAF.
Yes Cyprus has a lot going for it. Providing your a tourist or retired.
Otherwise holding down a full time job is tough unless you are fluent in Greek.
Thank you so much for all your good comments about our island. You are such a kind person. If you pop up to my mothers house up in the village I am sure she will prepare for you a good lunch despite that he never meets you and when you will leave she will defintely give you walnuts and dry grapes 🥰🥰🥰🥰 She is 84 years old now. I am wishing you a pleasant staying to our island for as long as you like and hope God will help you to accomplish your dreams and goals ❤
Thank you very much! I appreciate it a lot and going to the villages and talking to some people is something that I planned to do actually!
@@Rico thank you for your kind reply. Yes, please do so and maybe next time to make a video about our villages and the hospitality of the locals 😎
Hey Rico, one of your best videos for me personally :-) Thank you so much for this great content. I'm from Germany too and am going to move to Cyprus the next year. Many people have problems in the winter because of the missing heaters in the apartments. How do you feel about that? Is it enough to heat with the ac? I'm just asking because I am a person whos freezing very fast ...and that's obvious one of the reasons I want to leave Germany :-P
Hey! Wow, thank you for that. I also put a lot of effort into this video and was not sure with the structure, but reading such feedback is amazing. Thanks! I think it depends on the property and the walls of the property, how well the walls isolate the outside temperature from the inside. I just moved into a new place in January (I have an Apartment tour on my channel) and I used the AC maybe 10 times throughout the whole winter, because I didn't find it cold. Coming from Germany, I know what true cold feels like, and 15 degrees Celsius is definitely not cold. However, when you live first row at the beach, it would be different because the wind definitely makes it much colder. That's why I said it depends on the property building and also location a little bit. Anyway, glad to have you here in Cyprus next year!!😊
@@Rico Thanks for answering :) 15 degrees are defenitly way more better then 0 degrees, storm and rain the whole winter on the baltic sea cost. Hope to see you one day on the Island and talk about business and so on. Keep going what you are doing here on youtube. You really have the talent to motivate people (at least in my case). All the best for you!
@@Zvenson Thank you so much for the motivation as well. :)
Nice video🙌🏻 Could you make a video about the nightlife in aiya napa. Like what to be aware of and what the best places to party is👏🏻
Hey, thanks, okay, I will keep that in mind, good idea😊
You say "money laundering" like it's a bad thing...
It's a national sport
that was so nice of u to give the guy a tip
Really appreciate your videos, Cyprus seems like a nice place. As for any unfavorable changes that might be occuring, every nice and livable area of the world is experiencing the same thing as world governing groups try to gain more control. Only if you want to live in a desert will things remain unchanged in this time. So in proportion, Cyprus is still good.
I like how you gave the 20 EUR tip to gas station worker, thanks! 🙏
Happy to come in contact with your video.
Great Vlog i enjoyed it 🌞⛱
Thanks!☀
Is it easy to gets friends down there? great review , great video:) Thanks Richard😜😂
Haha, thank you for the comment. I have a video called "Digital Nomads in Cyprus" there I talk about meeting new friends and that it is very easy with such communities and other options. So I would say yes! :)
@@Rico il check it out thanks 😁
Great content ❤
Thank you for the support and comment!!!😊
Hey Rico, I am working at pafos as a wolt courier. Hope to see you just randomly and have a talk. 😂
How often do you use wolt?
Hey, amazing, nice to meet you! I don't use Wolt often because my girlfriend cooks every day, but I will start ordering a bit more then I guess.😁🙂
I'm a Wolt courier in Israel 😂
You're a good guy. I can see you are have a good financial mindset too, instead of trying to "flex" with a car, have a normal, good car you probably bought for cash. Great stuff! Happy that I've came across your channel.
Also, to your point on rules, there are there in Spain too, which is very relaxed in other aspects.
Bicycle helmets must be worn and also on the small electric scooters, it's a 100 or 200€ fine and they do fine people for it.
Of course, it's still no Germany or Switzerland, but slowly increasing the rules for sure.
Thanks for noticing that, I know where I came from, and I feel gratitude every day, regardless what I drive. I've been to Spain once, and I enjoyed it very much, luckily I didn't have any trouble, but good to know!🙂
Beautiful explanation cyprus thank you so much sir thank you
Hello Rico. I would like to visit Cyprus for the first time. I am looking to move to Cyprus. Which website do you recommend to find an apartment for a month and where in Cyprus do you recommend renting? I am a solo male 30+. Thank you Rico. P.S I have watched many of your video clips You are doing great service the Cyprus.
Hi, Rico. I have to tell you from my own experience here in Pafos, that the level of criminality is higher now. I personally have bad experience with thieves and robberies in Kato Pafos. They tried to steal my car three times already during the night.
Wow, where does it stand? On a public or private spot? Who would steal a car? That's crazy.
@@Rico it stands in front of my apartment or in the underground garage parking lot. On both places, my car was robbed and the items inside were stolen. You should understand that in Cyprus there is an increase in drug use (marihuana, crystal meth), especially with the young generation, and there are drug gangs and d
And there are drug gangs and dealers (Mouttallos on the hill is a famous drug selling place), so drug gangs - mostly young Romanians or Bulgarians (gypsies)- are operating all across Pafos making robberies into houses and apartments and also into cars during the night. You should be extremely cautious
Damn dawg u got the drones 'n everything... :)
I go all in. :)
Hi Rico! Wunderbar! Great video. Well done making your new life in Cyprus. I actually thought you were the son of Scottish Grand Prix driver David Coulthard 🙂 I'm interested in finding out about living in Cyprus, but obviously it's more difficult for UK citizens now because of stupid Brexit
Thank you! And that could actually be true! I get Michael Douglas a lot as well, haha. Sure, we can assist you with moving to Cyprus even after Brexit. If you google my name "Ricardo Gorski" you can contact me via my website.
Hey Rico,
Nicely put together. The last time I was in Cyprus ( my home town of Limassol) was 5 years ago. Whenever I visit, sometime this year, I will see the changes, I’m sure.
You mention about the many restaurants in Cyprus and, that you enjoy food. Maybe do a vlog on say your favorite Paphos restaurants and your critique of them. Good food always looks good on the camera
Showing my hometown, it makes me miss Cyprus. I envy you and your lifestyle. Keep on enjoying my friend
Hey Andrew, thank you very much. Ah, so Limassol is your hometown? That's interesting. From the videos you see, would you also say it changed a lot?
Great idea! Okay, I will make a video about eating Meze and I will upload it in the next few weeks. Stay tuned! 😊
Thank you, see you soon. All the best to you!😊
If I wanted to rent somewhere via Airbnb for 3 months, how much do you think that might be per month?
You are doing a very great job
It's good to hear you still like it. I wish this country was more pedestrian friendly or the public transport was better. Have you ever been in Polis? What do you think about that area?
I love Polis and it's Blue Lagoon. I rented a boat and I had a fun boat trip with friends last summer. Definitely a lovely area, but it is even quieter than Paphos.
@@Rico Yeah, same. There are some good boat rental places there. We did that too. It looks like a nice retirement destination.
@@zeroflaghu Absolutely!
Hi Rico can you do more videos on real estate?
What's the best website for finding long term rentals in Cyprus?thanks
Sure, more will follow soon. But I also have a video called "How to find cheap houses to rent" where I talk about long term rentals.
The System here for the Health services is currently second to none ,and you are right I just had replacement knee surgery within weeks with a top surgeon in Paphos
What is VAT on food supplements in Cyprus? I have ecommerce selling products in European Union
Whats taxis and rideshare like there from airport? I need to go from larnaca to limmasol
you're the prophet of Cyprus' expats... I am deciding to move there after seeing your videos... now I am here to check
The pharmacies and organic food stores are more expensive than in Germany and aren't so good , i wanted to buy valeriana drops and didn't find in pharmacies in Paralimni Protaras area, good shampoos, creams are very expensive. Supermarkets are also expensive, but at least the fruits and vegetables and more tasty than in Germany. We live in Deryneia before we lived in Protaras( i like the the fig tree beach very much) there are not enough doctors in these areas. I think if you want to live in Cyprus you must really like the weather, it is really hot and dusty here in summer which i don't like so much, before we lived in the north of Germany at the north sea where the air was much cleaner i think , overall i would like to go back i think
You are right to mention EU restrictions. Perhaps they are minor in the Turkish Cypriot part !? Would like to know about this point as I want to leave UE ...
How is the transportation there, i am interested in living in Cyprus
Nice video 😊
Hey Rico. Please make a video for the Cypriots who are out priced in the Cypriot market because of rich people like you, Russians, Ukranians, Israelis who make the real estate market UNAFFORDABLE for people who are born here!
Hey! First, I'm not rich haha, but I agree that the supply & demand is out of balance and with my video "Cyprus Could Change Forever" I firstly touched this topic and I will further investigate, draw attention to it & I am motivated to contribute to a solution. I appreciate your comment and stay tuned!
😍❤
Rico you need sunblock. I'm checking further in where to retire to in cyprus.
Hey, you mean sunblock for the camera? I think Paphos and Peyia is a great city to retire in my opinion.
@@Rico lol i mean for your fair skin;-) I am torn between cyprus and the south if France
@@blktauna Ahh, hahaha, yes, I will use it in July & August. I just talked to someone from South France last week that wants to relocate to Cyprus.
@@Rico :). thanks Rico!
Hi Rico love your video.I live in Melbourne and what I can see Cyprus is beautiful and looks great better living than Australia.👍♥️🌹

Hi! Great video . I'm watching you from Russia.
Thank you! We have many Russians here. :)
Also do you live in north or south Cyprus?
North Cyprus is not a real country...

Antoniiis! 😊
May I please have the contact details for the Limassol accountant you refer to in this video by the name of 'Antonis'. Thank you.
Hi Marc, yes sure. Contact me and I will make an introduction. My contact details are in the video description.
Please is it north Cyprus you reside
No, that's south
You have so good english, what is your english level?

I'll make a video about it in the future.

This thing about warning is very bad.
It means that either the police is corrupt and unfair or the citizens are unlawful.
Why does your video look so yellow?
Cool video, mate! Let's meet soon for pizza!
Hey Charis, hope all is well. Yes, this summer we will definitely meet for Pizza again!😊😊
Good morning
Hey rico,How are you?
I'm From Bangladesh & too soon i will come in nicosia for working then please try to meet with me.
I'm new in your channel
where is the review? 10 minutes in, and we've seen you just do random stuff while talking about random cyprus stuff.. wish this video was scripted and a bit more organized..
Hi Rico, this is a nice video, but (little advice), you should avoid anything related to religion and sentences like "Living in a Christian country makes me feel safe"... Cyprus is a nice country, but real estate has become unaffordable for many. Two or three years ago, a 2-bedroom apartment was rented for around 500€. Now, the price is more like 1000 to 1500€ ! When greed wins... PS : have you changed your accountant (refer the one in Paphos) or do you have several ?
Hey Raffaello, thanks for your transparent message. I appreciate it and will reflect on that. I didn't mean to offend anyone or a party/religion/organization. Sorry if it came across like that.
Antonis is my main accountant, but I am cooperating with accountants from Paphos too.
1) Because I have more than one company and 2) when recommending an agency, I first ask a few questions to see what agency is best for your needs. For example, some people only want accountants from Paphos, and so I recommend my Paphos partners.
It’s true, certain groups are violent. Be quiet
Why not mention his religion? I personally really liked to hear the country is super Christian and safe and that he is also a Christian. I will watch more of his videos as a result. Keep up the honesty, Rico Go, and don't cave to what others think. You don't hurt anybody by mentioning your faith.
@@lm4559 agree
@@lm4559 Because religion is something personal and private and no religion is superior to another.
If I were you I'd try jetboarding 🤗
The police state thing is negative.
What do you mean exactly?
@@Rico you mentioned increasing police control. That is negative.
@@GleeSmee Ah yes, I agree...
@@Rico although it's positive that people warn each other about police traps
@@GleeSmee Same as in Israel with the high car lights
You can get a hit paid for in €20 euro in his country so you probably paid for a hit
