- In this video we are comparing Life in Malta vs Life in Cyprus. Many people who want to move to Europe are looking for sunny places with good climate, and there are these 2 competitive Mediterranean islands Malta and Cyprus. As a guest in this video i have Rico, who lives in Cyprus and i asked him the most common questions that someone want to know about Cyprus. He gave his overview and at the same time i was answering the same questions but related to Malta.
If you want to learn more about Malta. Here is my guide book: alexinmalta.com/product/malta...

Thanks for taking the time to create this with me. Looking forward to see Rico in Malta 🎉
Very good quality video 🎉😊💐👍, where the sea 🌊 is prettier, in Malta 🇲🇹 🏖 or Cyprus 🇨🇾? Well done that russians are not welcomed there anymore 👍, they must be punished for what they are doing to Ukraine 🇺🇦
Rico do you have a girlfriend ❤❤❤
Wow amazing your place in Cyprus sir Rico 👍🙂
@@olgazinchenko5857I’ve visited both. I would say the sea is more beautiful in Malta, but the beaches are sandier in Cyprus. Malta has many more natural pebbles/rocks which is beautiful but not as easy to walk into the sea!
I have visited both countries. Cyprus is much better and cleaner. Hope to move to Cyprus next sommer
I was living in both countries, both of them are lovely sunny countries! Both of you guys has done a very fair video; From my point of view, Cyprus has three points in plus so the difference it is very insignificant… Both of them are LOVELY countries and really ok for expats
So enjoyable! Thank you for the country comparisons! 😊
Great to see how both countries have some similarities. Nice video . I love it. ❤️
Thank you ❤
Great video and very informative. Thanks a lot Alex and Ricardo.

Absolutely brilliant Alex very helpful and informative 🏖️👌
Thanks Scott
You deserve a million likes on all your videos, Alex💋💋
Great videos guys. I'm seriously considering going to Malta to live and work. You guys are extremely helpful
Thank you 🫶🏼🙏🏻
Oh no. I would like to hear more of your conversation....specially with cocktails. Hope there's gonna be more videos about same topic
Very interesting!
Nice video you two, a lot of useful info and beutiful Mckenzie beach! I like both Cyprus and Malta, but it's hard to compare, Malta for me more like exploring history and different vibe but Cyprus more beautiful sand beaches, nature and cities... You need to go together to Spain and explore Costa del Sol, Malaga for example or Sicily very similar vibe and very beautiful but also still different...you can make great video too :) Thanks again, maybe I'll try one day to move to Larnaca, still my favorite city in Mediterranean
Thank you 🫶🏼
What an interesting video!
Thank you

One of the big advantages of Cyprus when compared to Malta is that Cyprus has forests. In Malta it's difficult to even find a single tree.
Hi Alex ypur videos are intresting. I’m in malta see you soon 😊

A VERY INTERESTING VLOG ABOUT TWO BEAUTIFUL COUNTRIES 🇲🇹 🇨🇾 🤔.
It's always interesting to listen, "with an open mind", to two 'outsiders' expressing their feelings about their chosen 'country of residence' and work - it's healthy. (I'm of similar status 😊). .
So many similarities but one can say that Cyprus is greener 🎄 🎄 .However on the other hand ,Malta has a lot of history & historic treasures ⚔ ⛪ 🛡.
THANKS Alex & Rico 🎥👏👏 .

Thank you. Yes, we clicked so well and the video had a great flow. All for the audience ☺️
Alex 😘💋, tell us about the water, is it safe to drink, and do power outages occur frequently in Malta?
How does the day go after work, for example?
I have lived in Cyprus for 20 years. Lately, I left my Larnaca because of my addiction... Is not Cyprus fault for that, and I'll always love Cyprus and Cypriots for the rest of my life. Igia kai xara se olous kiprei ❤
I’m currently live here in Cyprus but the northern part we pay the agent the fee same way as you said in Malta so, I’m kinda lost with the idea of Rico saying the landlord pays. Great video and very informative
"Bulgaria has perfect weather"
(my imagination)
Well, here I am, December 16, 2023.
Thinking about Cyprus, though maybe will just visit in January to check it out first.
I dunno, maybe I'll check out Malta also.
One month in each country would be interesting.
Then return to Bulgaria for spring!
Rico he is the legend 🙌
Alex and Rico very interesting video. Thank you. what I missed in this video is the question about medical services in Cyprus. Is the hospital free, same as Malta? How is that working in Cyprus? Thank you.
Will ask Rico :)
8:17 in fact Ryanair fly theres in Paphos from all of EU and Middle East (including Malta where it flys from Malta to Paphos)
I flew with Emirates to Larnaca
Very informative, thank you! Could you tell us spmething about people who has children? I am a single mother and we are wishing to leave England for the same reasons as you mentioned..
Oh Alex, please stay in Malta as one day I would like to stumble into (is that the proper preposition ??) you.

@@AlexinMalta OK ! Sigh of relief :).
Where in malta there isnt sandit disappeared when i was young many sandy beaches in malta
Great video. I’m lucky to have lived in Malta and Cyprus. I have busted both many times too. I was going to buy a house on Malta but seeing the changes and how commercial it is becoming due to the government wanting more and more money. We have bought a place on Gozo.
Also one big thing I found with Malta and Gozo it was more gay friendly than Cyprus. My friends and sons godparents are gay and got verbally abused in Cyprus twice. However they have come to Malta five times and no trouble and people more friendly towards them.
Great choice to buy in Gozo. And yes i think Malta is more gay friendly
Never been Malta or Cyprus but I would like to relocate to a warmer country and Malta or Cyprus is a high option for me.
Wow
Hi Alex
Lots of similarities, but also differences. I think the biggest difference between the 2 islands, aside from the size, Cyprus is way bigger than Malta, imho is that Malta hardly has sandy beaches while Cyprus does have them. For beachlovers, Cyprus will win. As for other factors, it will be a matter of personal preference. Nice video.
Why would someone move to Malta, when they can move to Sicily, a much bigger island with more opportunities AND beaches. Is it the language? Sorry for my ignorance.
Hi alex . IAM from srilanka IAM looking for malta approval letter how many days get bro.
Ah, McKenzie beach. Good spot but right at the end of the airport runway.
I really enjoyed watching your video. There was one issue that I think you were mistaken on. To get a Maltese passport, you don't buy real estate, but rather make a 700,000 euro donation plus other fees. The second thing that is significant is for people that have investment income. In Malta, if you apply for the non-dom program, you can pay a flat tax of 5,200 e, but you will not get any health care or qualify for ehic. Whereas in Cyprus, you can open up a corporation, employ yourself, pay yourself a nominal salary, and get both healthcare and the European health insurance card. That is very significant. The other thing that is that Cyprus only requires you to stay 60 days on the island, whereas in Malta it is not defined!
Thank you
Actually, **183-Day Rule**: According to the 183-day rule, an individual is considered a tax resident in Cyprus if they spend more than 183 days in total within a tax year (January 1st to December 31st) in Cyprus. This includes both days of arrival and departure.
The **60 day-Rule** comes with 3 conditions: At least 60 days stay in Cyprus in a tax year, Do not reside in other single country more than 183 days, and You are not o tax resident in any other country. Also you have to know the taxation rules.
Are there direct flights between Cypress and Malta?
Yes direct flights with Emirate Airlines😊
Emirates to Larnaca & Ryanair to Paphos

Nice to see both of you in one frame I lived in Cyprus since 2016 December to 2022 September 6 years totally it’s been a year I’m here in Malta but to be honest Malta is more like open minded and they treat each one same way not racist in Cyprus I faced extremely racist local people very rude they treat non European people like not a human that was horrible experience that I face in my life it’s been year I’m living in Malta until now I don’t face any kind of racism or discrimination I hope it will be remain the same thank you
So happy to hear about being treated well and as an equal in Malta. All the best and take care 🙏.

@@AlexinMalta thank you I hope so will continue the same acceptance until the last day in malta
@@ardentenv I just share my 6 years experience from Cyprus how racist they are and discriminate towards south Asian since last year I’m in Malta I find huge difference between the two islands I don’t encounter such behavior here in Malta specially public sector they are more polite always helpful and respectful
in your case I think sometimes they are racist about our discipline and the rules if we don’t follow they will not accept it that’s all we are not in our country we have to respect their rules and policy that’s all
One thing I did notice in Cyprus, we were near the old port, forgot the name of it. Maybe larnaca ? Or limossol.
We arrived at a cafe after already walking a few metres past.
The menu on the table was in Greek. So hard to read, but I saw some prices.
The bar tender hurriedly swapped us to an English one.
However these was an uplift in tourist prices. Quite significant too.
When we paid I said we would pay local prices and after some tedious but firm negotiation the guy backed down.
Our friends lived there so knew enough Greek to be firm (military police) and was all fine.
But he said they do try it on
Cyprus is a great place to live
Malta and Cyprus were both British colonies before gaining independence in the 1960’s.

Dear Alex you are wrong about the size of Malta, Cyprus is over 30 times bigger than Malta not how you said 5 to10 times . Regards Lucienne😊

Hello Alex, what are the prospects for a Nigerian-born medical doctor in Malta?
Are there jobs for foreign medical graduates in Malta?
Hi, yes there are
You missed one topic: languages. Is English as much spoken in Cyprus as in Malta?
Yes
No
Are you mirabelles friend?
Alex you have said it all, I don't think their is provion for jobs dor forigns
Malta and Cyprus are just too similar. Even people's mentalities are quite close.
One thing I will say goes in Cyprus's favour is its cleanliness. I was in Limassol some months ago. Its quite a big city, yet it was also pretty spotless. You rarely see rubbish on the ground. Then i did see garbage in some fields outside Paphos which they thought tourists wouldn't see. While Malta tends to be cleaner were tourist and population density isn't high, in Cyprus they tend to focus a lot on the touristy areas a lot and make sure they don't look shabby. When it comes to size, I think Cyprus also makes you feel less claustrophobic.
On the flipside, i think Cyprus suffers a lot from public transport connectivity. The trips between cities are infrequent and the public transport on the island not straightforward. Yes Malta's public transport is far from perfect but it gets you everywhere and is rather user friendly though not punctual. I also used Cab CY a couple of times (their version of Ecabs) and its a joke i have to say ... once the driver decided to pick up someone else not on my route making me arrive late to my appointment. All along the way he was having a rant about traffic and politics in rather broken English.
When it comes to queer rights Malta beats Cyprus hands down. Also, the level of English I found quite low as well for an ex British colony, though it doesn't feel very Greek as most of the signs are in English.
Well said
Hey ALex you very nice man
Lov you
❤️
Most people in Cyprus don’t welcome their relatives that live overseas . I copped a lot of flack from them but they are nice to the tourists . I could not connect to Cyprus but then again I only got to see the Greek side because I couldn’t go to the Turkish side where my parents were from . This was in 1992 . They do have ancient history and some nice natural beauty but I prefer to live in Australia because most of my relatives weren’t nice to me , when z I visited Cyprus .
Just visited both countries with high expectations and both have a serious problem. Cars and cars pollution.
Malta is a trafic mess, takes half hour to do 5km. Don't know how they do it, being everyday in tragic jams.
In Cyprus nobody walks, single car use all over. Bus service almost inexistent and expensive (2.45 euros for a single bus trip)?
Left very disappointed with both countries, hope they can solve this problem somehow.
Positives: beaches in Cyprus and history in Malta.
3:07 that is why these islands are driving on the left side of the road not right
Indeed
Alex I want to move Malta
Best of luck
Malta has less taxes than Cyprus if you have financial capitals abroad... agreed?
HOW IS NURSING JOBS IN MALTA. HOW'S THE SALARIES, ALLOWANCES AND HOW CAN INTERNATIONAL NURSES APPLY TO WORK IN MALTA???
I much prefer Malta, its much more Global and cosmopolitan. There's people from all over the world, and foods etc. I like its craziness and the fact its a walking island, and its super easy to meet people! Also love that there's a big Film Community. they call it the Hollywood of the med. Cyrus is nice but not much happening in my opinion, but lots of green!
I'm Brazilian, and I decided to move to Malta because it's LGBTQ+ friendly. Brazil has the largest LGBTQ+ community in the world, and I didn't want to move to a place where I'd face homophobia (I've been married to another woman for 4 years) or experience prejudice for being Latina. Besides, I managed to secure a work visa for Malta while I was still in my home country. Where else could I have all of this? So, I don't mind that Malta is quite small, or that it has some cleanliness issues and slightly expensive rents. I feel safe with my wife, earning in euros with a work visa, and I still have beautiful sunny days to enjoy on the beaches. I'm grateful to Malta for all of this.
Am preparing to relocate to Malta too.
No mention of Asylumseekers coming through Turkish Cyprus??
Im not aware about that, give me details
cypriot racist, shame on you
And it's getting worse not better! I think Malta just gives them benzene and food and sends them away
@@AlexinMaltaSo there is a really big business going on in Northern Cyprus that has to do with colleges and universities. What they do is they bring in people mostly from Africa and I think Nigeria is the most common country but many others as well perhaps. And they tell them things like that the school is great and you can get a degree and you can get jobs paying high salaries etc. Of course this is all one big lie. So then when they arrive, they are unable to stay in the country because their visa in Northern Cyprus is attached to their enrollment. So if they stop paying the school, their visa is canceled and they are deported to the Republic of Cyprus by bus. They then go out and apply for asylum. The other thing that's even more heinous though, is that the school recruits them as agents to encourage other people to come from their home country to go to school. Naturally, they will tell them a whole pack of lies because they are on commission and they are getting money for doing this. And this is like a revolving door kind of like a Ponzi scheme where people keep coming in and recruiting other people from their home country to do the same thing and continually getting commissioned. The ones that are successful get to stay, continue going to school, and continue to defraud their countrymen. The others are deported to the Republic of Cyprus where they promptly claim refugee status. It is really disgusting and a travesty of Justice.
@@torontovoice1 thats what I as a senior winter longstayer discovered.
Cyprus is cleaner, More countryside, house prices are cheaper and shopping for clothes and electrical items is cheaper too. Also, everyone can speak English the same standards as found in malta however - Culture is richer in cyrpus as it has vibrant music from greece and lots of stunning traditions whereas in Malta the traditions are jumping around at over crowded feasts eating hot dogs and drinking cans of beer and shouting,
Sorry but I have to step in. Rico makes is sound very easy. The bureaucracy is a mess in Cyprus and can be really slow.
I’m moving to Cyprus. The only bad thing I noticed that is not a gay-friendly island. There are not gay oriented bars, meeting point or discotheques and also the feeling is that homosexuality is not well accepted in Cyprus. Was illegal few years ago. Rico, what do you think about?
I am not aware about that, but lets see what Rico has to say about it
If I have Malta PR and my wife has also Malta PR.. then I born baby in Malta. My baby will be citizenship holder ? PR holder ? Or TRC holder ??

You didn't ask if most of the local people are happy to have so many foreigners settling in their country or if they were happier before this invasion of tourists and foreing settlers.
I lived in Malta in the 60s and 70s and everytime I visit my Maltese friends young and old..... they all say they are losing their culture and way of life daily.😢
They should be grateful for what they have. Before this so called invasion, they were poor and jobless.

As person who visited and lived in both islands I can say for me Malta is like first love (it was my first abroad country I visited) and Cyprus is like just russian village in Mediterranean with a lot of foreigners.
Too many Russians and to much Russian money in Cyprus. No doubt Russian money influences the Cyprus government. Be wary.
Be careful. Malta is a cat-fish country
Because Malta is soooo Tiny the amount of foringers coming in is becoming really quite over whelming & even distressing for the majority of the Maltese people especially those that come from third world country's.. they have a completely different mind set & many more children..& the more hotels & restaurants we open the more we will need foringers to come in...very concerning!!!
I will just correct you, its not “foreigners coming” its “authorities approving foreigners to enter and settle down”
@@AlexinMalta yes Alex..they are being welcomed deffininly because we need them for construction & in all the restaurant & hotels popping up everywhere..BUT Malta will one day go BANG!!! & it won't be a pretty sight.
"especially those that come from third world country's" That term is completely racist, improve and update yourself, people in developing countries are human beings seeking a more dignified life. Don't feel superior; when we die, we all go under the ground; we are all equal.
Be aware that using terms like "third world countries" can be offensive and perpetuate negative stereotypes. Instead, it is more appropriate and respectful to refer to these countries as "developing countries" or "emerging economies." It is essential to treat all people with respect and empathy, regardless of their origin or situation. Remember that we are all human beings seeking a better life, and equality is fundamental.
