But this, i mean the Samsung A50 has a 1080p AMOLED display with a similar processor and performance and costs $230 that is $30 cheaper than this, soo honesty their is not point unless you really want stock Android
iPhone xr has an 828p display. Yes, this Xiaomi has an AMOLED display but it's an pentile technology which is pretty old and with inaccurate colors. Very disappointed.

@DerpyDoge retina screens aren't that good, and a 720p super amoled isn't nearly as good as a 1080p oled panel in normal usage. Maybe with quite a bit of anti aliasing it is, but most brands don't offer that.
@DerpyDoge super retina is only supported on oled devices, it's literally impossible to not get true blacks on an oled screen. Amoled and oled look incredibly similar, the main difference is in regards to reliability. And the xr screen looks decent due to software, the anti aliasing and colour grading applied. "Retina displays" are the same as normal displays, but they're modified through software.
Xiaomi is the last company making great products for affordable prices...let's hope they don't become another One Plus.

Xiaomi you already know with mi 9 (on sale), mi 9t, mi 9t Pro, redmi note 8 etc. Realme for x2, x2 Pro (best bang for buck), realme 5 and 5 Pro etc. Samsungs old flagships drop down in price alot. And Huawei phones have dropped significantly(I got my p30 on offer for 280)

Yeah, it's 720p, but it's an Amoled, and it's less than $300. For perspective, just remember the iPhone XR has a resolution less than 720p, and it's an LCD display, and that's $700.

But why would you compare it to something bad? If you want a comparison the Mi a2 had a 1080p display. The xiaomi mi 2 has a better screen, in terms of ppi, than this phone. Yeah this phone is pretty amazing in terms of value like most xiaomi devices but downgrading the resolution of the screen?? They had no reason to do so.

Still Nokia is going with old chipsets. Only the looks doesn't matter. Even Samsung is doing better than this. In 2019 it's wrong to say that A phone is expensive because it is better . Nokia phones receive update on time because they runs on stock Android otherwise nothing special. A company which is not even able to decide price for its phones. They launched Nokia 5.1 plus and 3.1 at same price in Indian market. Now tell me what is the logic behind this
There really is no point to buy Apple or Samsung anymore. This phone is excellent.
But still nothing can beat samsung, samsung have more budget affordable phones like Samsung A11, A10, A10s etc.
I dont know about apple but I will be honest, in my opinion apple do have expensive phones, I never bought an Apple phone but I have used my best friend's apple phone for 1.5 years but it's not that powerful to work with as comparied to Samsung phones like the Samsung note 20/ultra and Samsung s21 because i have to work on my phone for my channel and i think samsung phones are more powerful and have more options, these samsung phones just threw apple in the corner. I have nothing to say much but i love samsung and Xiami both 😊

Xiaomi did a sin by downgrading its Display from 1080p to 720p. Otherwise Mi A3 is a steal for the price.
nah, it's actually average or below average value, it runs snapdragon 665, which impressive enough it runs way worse than the snapdragon 660, look for around that price you can get the samsung a50, which has a better cpu, has amoled but 1080p display, fingerprint under display, triple camera setup. etc. Compare this mi a3 with the xiaomi redmi note 7, which is about 130 dls, has better cpu, and has a fhd+ display, that's a steal for the price
Honestly, the Mi 9T/K20 exists, so the A3 is pretty much DOA.

I have the huawei mate se with similar bands and it does just fine on Metro Pcs I also live downtown of my city which probably helps but this Xiaomi MI A3 will definitely be my upgrade to this Huawei Mate SE in about a year or so just got it not to long ago and does fine for now I love it

I dont care about AMOLED if the display is a bright IPS. 1080p is a MUST.
Specially with AMOLED displays the resolution is key, a 720p ips looks sharper than a 720p amoled because of the subpixel arrangement. So in fact it will look worse than your average 720p, terrible.

Recently got this phone and it's fantastic, really don't notice the 720p resolution. Switched from a 1080p LCD phone and I think this screen actually looks abit better. The battery life is excellent too. Amazing value phone!

My point is, you may want to wait for awhile, and do some research. Good phones are getting cheaper and cheaper. You might stumble on a better 1080p at same cost.

I think they may added animation to finger print unlock to cower for unlock time. They knew it takes time, and people would be asking what is going on with the unlock if the display just stands doing nothing, but when you put little animation, people immediately know that it is unlocking. It works.
This probably the best phone I've ever had, it's a shame that both, the 2 gesture nav and the Android One UI stopped and there aren't any more phones like this one anymore. Not even the Poco f3 with 2 times the same specs is as comfortable as the Mi A3

Mi A1 is more stable than mi a2 in term of software but when it comes with camera and quick charge 3.0 , another mi a series kick of the A1.

The 720P display has some good parts to it tho, uses less RAM, less processing power and GPU power, less battery, and also making it oled is kind of a good tradeoff
@Jay Bayona amoled is a type of display panel that use LED. ips display is the improvement of lcd display. the diference between them is the brighter the screen will be, at amoled the display is brighter than ips. which mean that we will see the display better when under the sunlight than the ips. amoled also more eficient in term of battery life , and amoled produce a type of warm colour than ips. sorry for my bad english. hope answer your question
So...for about 100 bucks more you get: better battery life, better screen and a triple camera setup in exchange for losing 1080p (which very few stations actually use).
Frankly If you are using a 6 in screen to watch Netflix or HD CZcams videos you probaby aren't gonna see the difference anyway.

For me it's also not having to put up with a shitty UI, the somewhat acceptable battery, and being able to have a darker minimum brightness for mornings and evenings.
Update: The minimum brightness is still way too bright for some reason. You'd think they'd have a lower minimum setting for this screen. To get down to comfortable levels you'll still need to root it and set a lower minimum brightness yourself, or install a screen filter.
@@emperror85 not really. Been using the phone for about a week now, full brightness during the day and minimum brightness at night is just spotted on. The screen goes so dark at minimum brightness, that u can stay all night long on it and your eyes wont feel tired at all.
@@ssdardayy9382 And yet I have to reduce it to 50% of minimum to reach the level I want. With an AMOLED screen you'd think they would allow for a much lower minimum brightness by default. If someone like you don't want it going quite that dark, you can always adjust and set it to 5% at night or something like that.
I bought it too just for the UI and headphone jack.
It's a really good upgrade from the one i have right there.. mi a2 lite. The problem is RAM management, there is almost no way you can go from 5 apps and don't reload each one of them, sometimes it freezes due to bad RAM management. Else the screen to body ratio is pretty damn good, the look is great, sound is mono speaker but so good and powerful, and you have a 3.5mm jack !

I was actually waiting for this phone. But I felt really bummed when I heard it has a 720p display..

720p with amoled display is battery saving than 1080p with LCD.. plus that good colour reproduction on amoled.. I rather trade that
jonah ramos not really, the Mi A3 is closer to 720p. To be more accurate, because it’s a 19.5:9 aspect ratio screen the resolution is 720x1560 while the XR is 828x1792.
@@someoneyouneverknow7529 I thought that, too, but someone made a comparison between CC9e with 720p versus CC9 with 1080p and the difference was only about 20 minutes more battery time for the CC9e, which is really not that great after several hours.
The reason it's cheap is because they have zero packaging.

I break my S10 and then pass on Google Pixel 3a because it's body is made of plastic.
You can switch between a flagship and a mid range, especially if it is a good phone.

If you can look past the display, it's a great fucking phone. I've been using this (typing on it right now) for nearly a year and it's pretty darn flawless. For those who are experiencing problems with the fingerprint sensor, I suggest you record multiple versions of the same thumb/finger when setting the fingerprint password. I don't look for professional photography, so the portrait mode and AI camera work pretty amazing for me. You can play moderately heavy games for upto an hour, but if you're a heavy gamer I'd suggest you to look into other options. Overall, for the price, pretty amazing phone, solid functionality and the plain ol' Android is pretty refreshing from the MIUI and other custom UI options. 8.5/10
