Making Mosaic Damascus with Burt Foster- FOSTER x HAALAND collab Part 1

Hey all! I had the AWESOME opportunity to start a collaborative project with Burt Foster (the maestersmith who I learned knife making from). This video follows the fun few days of trying to create two distinct billets of Damascus and try mixing them together to create a collaborative pattern. The overall goal is to make two blades in our two different styles from the same materials and create a box set. We are calling this "Binary Star Mosaic" because Binary Stars are two stars that are gravitationally bound to one another as with our Damascus patterns! Watch to the end to see how this crazy pattern develops. This was a ton of fun!

It just takes experience I think. The more you do it, the more you understand how it works, the more you can plan things out.

Absolutely no way this is authentic, true, real Damascus. It's forge welded. I'm surprised that this guy a master smith doesn't even know the difference.
