  • Classic moments of commentary as each driver wins a world title. Johnny Herbert ensuring we probably won’t get a classic bit of commentary as Max win’s his 2nd world title.

    He didn’t know that he won the wdc until he went inside the cool-down room

      In the press conference later he said this is the moment he learned he is the champion, but after that, before the cool down room, someone told him he was not, after that in the room he learned he was champion for sure.

    Max acting that he didn't know he won the wdc in the cooling room was probably him being a worried friend for Leclerc, because he didn't want Leclrec to feel guilty for ruining his only chance of fighting for the championship

      No I believe after this interview someone told him it was a mistake and that he still needed 1 point. This led him to believe he was not world champion yet. Hence Perez' question when they entered the cooldown room. Verstappen explained something along these lines in the press conference.

      Don't think it's bad manners, just an awkward interviewer.

      It’s not bad manners. Nobody knew he had won it because of the lack of communication from the FIA/Race directors. Herbert thinks he’s doing a straight forward interview and clearly has someone on his ear trying to explain that Max is World Champion. Imagine how difficult it would be to be put on the spot like that live on TV 😂

      No that is David croft. Herbert is a Sky Sports F1 pundit, and former F1 Driver with 3 wins. He was a former team mate to Schumacher at Benetton and has won Le Mans 24

    Herberts comments about Gasly were all wrong. There shouldn't be recovery vehicles on the track while cars are still out on the track at near race speed. Even behind the PC they are still going over 60MPH and up to 90 MPH. I thought his continued bashing of Gasly may have been instructions for the F1A to make them look better.

    • @Matt231985uk
      @Matt231985uk  Před rokem +2

      The tractor should not have been on track, nobody can disagree, but Herbert had every right to criticise Gasly. He drove through a Double Waved Yellow flag sector at 250kph in low visibility. Even if the tractor is not there, it could have been Sainz sat in the car stranded across the track or Marshalls/Medics attending to a crash. Double waved Yellows are an instruction to slow down and be prepared to stop. The SC and double waved yellows were out before he exited the previous corner, and the red flag showed as he approached the tractor. He should have slowed immediately and he didn't forcing a Marshall to run to safety as he almost hit him. That footage is out there! Something that a lot of people have failed to mention as well is that he continued to drive at over 200kph throughout the rest of the lap under Red Flag conditions. The stewards were correct to award a 20 second penalty and 2 points on his licence.
      As for Herbert being instructed by the FIA, he's working for an independent broadcaster and has no communication with the FIA. That's just a silly suggestion!
