There's a misconception that zeno is admitting chrollo is stronger then him. But he doesn't. When he said "but if you were actually going all out it would be a different story" is him basically calling chrollo out by saying "i knew you were holding back the whole time". Thats why chrollo chuckled and said "so the old man knew".
Also yea its confusing how zeno and chrollo didn't die there. But what basically happened is Silva phone rang mid charge and he threw his giant balls away but not on them
even talking about "stronger" at this tier is nonsense. we know chrollo could defeat his fellow members cause he's the smartest and he is so versatile, but people talk like can kill anyone on the spot, in this episode he tried to capture the zoldycks for example, could he do it if he's also able to kill them? possibly but after a few seconds he realized that's not gonna happen because his opponent is smart, and he got folded afterwards, if he had tried to kill them from the start that wouldn't have happened but the outcome would be impossible to predict

It's not much of a misconception, Zeno is admitting that Chrollo could probably kill him more likely than not if he took a more lethal approach. Chrollo being able to kill Zeno doesn't make him "stronger" than Zeno though, Zeno is just admitting that due to Chrollo's versatility and skills that Zeno himself would probably be the underdog if they fought.

Really, the greatness of HXH is literally from the fact that we dont have to deal with these power level conversations that other shounen anime write themeselves into. Togashi leaves himself doors and avenues to adequetly write fights that make sense and are justified; so in the end, we literally have no idea who would actually win in a fight between Zeno and Chrollo, but it would sure as hell be interesting

Illumi called Zeno just before Silva attacked. The phone rang almost a second before impact, that's why Silver held back. You can hear it in the 1999 version and read it in the manga too. 2011 version didn't have that for some reason
I read the manga. And no silva phones didn’t rang here before attack. Stop confusing people. But it’s also more clearly in the manga that he didn’t hit directly these two. I think that just means that Silva didn’t want to sacrifice his dad

The underground auction run by the mafia where only the mafia attends and the official auction run by the official auction house. The phantom troupe robbed the underground auction. The official auction is entirely unimpacted. The greed island copies are sold at the official auction. Kortopi did not make copies of them. The official auction proceeds just as planned, all the phantom troupe shenanigans have no influence on it.

Zeno basically went to the roof of the skyscraper and casted his own En sphere to locate Chrollo, which basically encompassed half of the building, and he even mentioned he could expand it to a 100m radius, which is insane.

that was added in 1999. in manga the radius they talked about was the building's. manga never mentioned the range of zeno's en, but that he can walk the antire area of the building from roof to basement with en activated. this is why he complains and mentions that this is tiring.
manga mentioned the range of zeno's en, in both anime versions and in the manga as well when Silva asks Zeno if he can cover the 100m radius and he says that he can reach even 300m.@@quinndelcarmen1384

Speaking in reference to the "plot hole" you guys noticed, Kurapika did not have chains in the manga during that part of the second auction so it's an animation error/oversight that they included his chains in the episode. Probably just a bunch of factors (production time/deadlines, they were used to animating Kurapika with the chains so they automatically drew them, or something else) leading them to forget to take it out.
It probably is an animation error lol but you could still say he was using En and it would make sense
Because the anime doesn't say it, the conditions for Chrollo's ability are:
1. He must see the ability he wants to steal in action with his own eyes
2. He must ask questions about the ability and have his questions answered
3. The ability's owner must touch the handprint on the cover of Chrollo's book
4. All three conditions must be fullfilled within an hour

damn the manga is still a league of its own. i love the anime and it's one of the best anime ever made, but the manga is still on another level, in terms of suspense, artistry and raw energy. every cut feels so physical, every pain so visceral. every frame is filled with feral instincts and intellect.

Yeah the reason why the Troupe didn’t notice kurapika at the auction was simply because they didn’t know anything about the chain user. It confused me too, but then I realized they’ve never seen kurapika. Only uvogin did. That’s why the troupe was interrogating gon and killua about “the chain user”, bc that’s the only way uvogin described him

I love the little details hxh gives us, in this episode that cape he summoned after conjuring his book was the ability of the Shadow Beast Owl (hence we know chrollo stole that ability from the Shadow Beast)

How Chrollo and Zeno could protect themselves from the blast is one thing that will be explained in detail later, but I think also Silva's projectiles are made of Emitter's nen so I guess he can control their power even after throwing them it's not like physical bombs or smth right? (in the same way Zeno can control his dragon....)

In 1999 version. Illumi called silva before casting his blast. Maybe he changed his blast's direction right after he heard the call from illumi.
In the manga it’s clear that he changed direction of his attack. But Illumi didn’t call him before
I don't know what factor it plays here but theoretically, yes an emitter can control their blast mid-strike. However, it seems quite hard to change a blast you fired, like you gave it this momentum, now it have to work harder to change it, and likely you won't before it strikes, but with the nen system, I'll say it's definitely possible. And Silva is an natural born Emitter (not a spoiler, they don't mention that in the anime).

Someone cleared that up already, in the old version the “bip bip” sound of the communicator that illumi used sounds when Sylva is creating those spheres, so they knew the job was done by illumi and purposely missed the hit. Bad animation change there, because it actually create the sense that sylva was not strong enough of he actually wasn’t capable of killing them 😅

A theory on the Silva attack, which isn't confirmed though, is that Illumi called Silva just as he was about to throw the attack, so because he felt the vibration in his pocket he redirected the attack at the last moment so Zeno and Chrollo were only hit by debris, not by the attack.
But again, that's a highly doubted theory and many people just think it's an inconsistency by the author. In the manga the pager also only vibrates after the attack.
The only convincing piece of evidence is that we can see the huge hole the attack made in the wall in the manga and Zeno and Chrollo are on the very edge of the hole.
So that means Silva didn't throw it centered on them, but pretty far to their right, which means Silva either has terrible aim, or he threw it offcenter on purpose, which gives the theory that he felt the vibration of Illumis pager in the last moment some credibility.

20:45 in the 1999 version, you can hear Silva's phone ringing right before he threw his attack indicating illumi's call stopped him from killing both of them.
Add chrollo fact: 1 of chrollo’s restrictions for capturing someone else’s power is they have to be alive, and in the event he does capture their power; they still have to be alive. If they die, chrollo loses the ability to use their ability. So this is part of why he wasn’t trying to kill the old man
Something about Nen, don't worry this isn't a spoiler.
You don't technically have any limit on how many techniques you have. It's not like JJK where you're born with them.
You can learn to make Nen do pretty much anything, but stuff that fits with your natural aura type will be the most efficient to learn and use.
So that means any given person can have infinite techniques, technically, but they would likely be of less quality then.
Specialists, while never fully explained in the manga, seem to actually have innate techniques similar to JJK. Like Neons ghost writing is not something she developed, but just something that was naturally within her. Kurapikas emperor time as well, it seems to be more in line with Kurta biology rather than anything to do with Kurapikas Nen efforts.
So about you wanting to see Killuas and Gons techniques, the answer is, they don't have any yet. They only learned the 4 principles, they didn't develop any technique yet.
It was already stated by Wing at the Heavens Arena actually, when they asked if they could make the same thing Hisoka did. Then he also explained that Kastro lost because he chose to develop an ability unefficient for an enhancer.

😊Your curiosity can actually be easily answered. No one has ever said that Silver's energy balls can instantly defeat Chrollo. It's possible that Silver could continue casting attacks and even throw multiple energy balls until Chrollo is defeated. However, if you pay attention to the storyline, you'll notice that Illumi called Silver at the beginning, asking him to stop the attack. So it's not that Silver couldn't kill Chrollo, but rather his attack was interrupted. That's all there is to it.

what the new version fail to present where the 1999 version did is that the call came in the same time as the attack, and it is with a special tone that they are very aware that is probably from the other job, so it is easier to fill in the logic that they slow down the final attack to get the call

In the 1999 version Silva's phone starts ringing while he is charging his attack signaling that Illumi killed the ten dons. So, it's fair to assume that he changed the attack trajectory in the last second so to not harm his father since Chrollo is no longer a target.
I would like to point out that Kurapika having his chains out was an anime mistake that wasn’t in the manga. The phantom troupe lady was right there when Kurapika grabbed those scarlet eyes on behalf of the nostrade family with his chains out 😂 that wasn’t intended in the source material he should have had them withdrawn. It’s always interesting to compare the manga afterwards. Also Zeno and Chrollo are shown popping up out of the rubble just to the left of the giant impact in the manga so that might suggest they dodged or Silva redirected it… that’s just speculation and me reading a lot into little details. But the author is always great with little story details. It’s chapter 100 if you want a quick glance
brig bringing up loving "anime lore" is so nice to hear, I don't think any of you guys read manga but it is nice to hear from ppl who read the source material about the differences in the adaptation vs the manga. i usually don't read a manga and watch the anime adaptation, but when i do its a fun little easter egg hunt to seek out the differences
If you slow it down you can see that Silva distracted Chrollo for a split second by powering up and that’s how Zeno was able to pin him down. I love this scene so much. Greatest anime by far.

Most nen users have one or few techniques (hatsu). Usually they'll have small variants of the same one, so it can be ambiguous.
It depends on the nen category too. Specialists have only one I believe.
People do not have one technique. They can use nen and have to decide on and perfect a technique. Its kind of like each person makes up a kind of martial arts made by them. That being said, certain types like enhancers probably tend towards doing similar things, but as you go towards specialists i think the variety exponentially increases. Thats why Hisoka talked so much shit to that clone guys, cuz in his opinion the guy wasted his life training and teaching himself a sub optimal way to use his nen, at least in hisokas perspective.
I'm pretty sure that Zeno and Chrollo could be 'friends' if they weren't on opposite side (or I should say if Chrollo wasn't trying to steal his powers😅 dude was trying to harvest hard on this auction period he already got 2 super useful powers so imagine even if he just stole one of the Zoldycks' hatsus 💰)
They're pretty similar in character, power level (roughly speaking ofc) got those philosophical moments so they could have some deep conversations and they can appreciate their opponents techniques while having an all-out fight I love them so much!!!!... both are too cool ^^
Also the way Chrollo speaks about Zeno in his mind sounds almost affectionate in JP they could be grandpa/grandson ☺

power level definitely not. Zeno is a nen master, at this point in the series the amount of people who even compare can only be counted on one hand. Chrollos is not one of them haha. Maybe in the future when chrollo becomes more important though

I didn't really appreciate the zoldyck and chrollo fight before because I do not understand how powerful they are and the abilities they showcase are minimal. yeah all of that aren't the serious stuff yet. but know in this level, I like it a lot.
after watching this fight.. for the rest of the show i dont think i was more hyped to see such powerful characters fight each other.. like the mystery of chrollo kept coming back in my mind...

Wow Ive seen the chrollo vs zoldycs fight so many times and never knew that detail about the call from Illumi before the final attack.
Chrollo is strong sure, but his main trait is his battle iq. Both Chrollo and Hisoka are some of the smartest fighters in the series its entirely possible for them to beat someone with a larger nen output than them.
this is true. Zeno and silva are arguably smarter though, or they at least have a deeper understanding of combat and nen usage. So in an an instance of say silva vs chrollo in a fair fight, definitely gonna give it to silva. Chrollo is a prodigy but he does not win against a master of nen like zeno or silva

Chrollo does not touch zeno in a fair fight. Silva we know pretty much nothing about, but we DO know that he was able to kill a phantom troupe member, and then fight chrollo and escape. Its also fair to assume that chrollo would leave no mercy for someone who kills a member of the phantom troupe, meaning chrollo genuinely tried to kill silva and failed
I always assumed Silvia's hit was swerved because they were interrupted by illumi, therefore it didn't really land at all

Zoldycks ARE fighting to kill Chrollo (though all sides having awareness of Illumi being hired by Chrollo to kill the Dons may make them play a bit safe), though it may not apply to the last attack, where Silva might not want to sacrifice his father for killing Chrollo and thus intentionally attacking with lesser intensity.
in this show all cheat code powers are come with a huge drawback . in kurapikas case when he uses emperor time his life span is used up 5 times faster or so ( expained in manga) . as for gon ulll see soon

Silva's attack didn't cause damage because Illumi called him seconds before, and Silva redirected his attack. If Illumi didn't call his dad in time, both Kuroro and Zeno would be dead.

I’m very excited for you guys to experience the next arc which is the Chimera Ant Arc. For me it is one of the most beautiful part of this anime. i wanted to experience it for the first time again. In the manga Zeno is a bit more beat-up than in the manga. He has blemishes and torn up closes. The Phone-call is after the explosion. I think he just tanked the explosion and Silva probably did know how to aim so it didn't directly hit his dad's back but the sides.

They're not exactly working together. Zeno and silva was hired by the Ten Dons to eliminate chrollo while chrollo hired illumi to eliminate the ten dons. Since the ten dons were killed, silva and zeno does not have the need to kill chrollo.

aside from specialist abilities any technique could be learned by anyone, Gon could even learn to do Bungee Gum if he wanted to, but Bungee Gum is a transmuter ability while Gon is an enhancer so he would never be able to use it as effectively as a transmuter like Hisoka would. As Hisoka explains to the guy who could clone himself dedicating a lot of time to techniques that are incompatible with your nen is basically a big waste even if it's possible. There's also obviously only so much someone can learn and use effectively. So generally best practices are to come up with your own technique and have it oriented around what type of nen user you are. Even though people are generally one type there are abilities that employ different types of nen simultaneously, so emitters and transmuters are next to enhancers on the chart so an enhancer could use emission and transmutation to support an ability that is primarily about enhancement, an enhancer could even use some manipulation and conjuration if they wanted but it would need to be even more limited because an enhancer is never going to get the maximum potential out of those. Conjuration is next to transmutation though so a transmuter like killua or hisoka actually could use conjuration in a technique more effectively than Gon could. Most techniques though are actually created and then they train with them, it's not like JJK or MHA or something where you discover what your power is and then train to use it effectively, you instead discover what type of technique you're most suited for and then you invent it yourself.

This is techically incorrect, he is just stronger when facing the Troupe as he would die from using emperor time against anyone else. He only has normal conjured chains against normal opponents. Both Gon and Killua could easily break normally conjured chains without Zetsu forsibly deactiving their nen.
The troupe don't know what Kurapika look like and the fake dead bodies were only the "warrior" members who could easily defend themselves if identified, it showed Pakunoda was not one of the 5 dead bodies
the '99 is amazing in the york new city arc! if you want certain scenes, take this episode , the uvo fight and i don't want to spoil anything but all i'm gonna say is pakunoda!
Yall should had watched the 1999 version of the scene where his eyes turned red . They executed it better & it's much more scarier than the 2011 version

Hunter x hunter is so underrated ... it's my favorite shonen ever ... i could never understand the ones that says for exemple that naruto or full metal are better ... each have it's own style but there is something in HXH narration/ characters / pacing that makes it above the others ... and it's the one shonen where the main protagonist is the least interresting character among them all

I don’t think Chrollo was holding back, he's not more powerful than Zeno.
Chrollo strong in his own right, but what make him super dangerous it is his intellect and preparation.
Zeno said that because Chrollo hasn't prepared to kill then, it was not his objective, thats why he said "if you really wanted to kill me, i would loose".
Just my interpretation of the scene, I’m sure some people would disagree.
no way chrollo was holding back in this fight. He was holding on to dear life trying to survive! Although his survival in this fight is 100% guaranteed because of Neon's fortune.
Zeno never said he'd loose.
@@gutsglory3625 he was holding back, choosing the most defensive ability from his book. zeno's advantage is experience but as silva notes. the pure potential (and youth) belongs to chrollo, and without being prepared to die, they would not be able to kill him.
