    You probably know Luis Gonzalez's 2001 season just from one bloop single, but he had a much, MUCH more memorable time both that season and with the Diamondbacks than that...

    Gonzo had a great season & the single to end the Series was amazing
    ... but Tony Womack's 2B to tie the game was infinitely more important. If Tony makes an out, the Yankees win. But because HE caused Rivera's first blown post-season save, if Gonzo made an out, we were going to the top of the 10th
    Womack also ROCKED that pitch!!!

    This video really makes you stop and appreciate the miracle of modern chemistry. In a lab, they are able to create a product that can convert a good MLB player, who in a 19 year career cracked 30 homers in a season just once, into one that rivals the greatest in the history of the league. A chemical that, when consumed, doesn't just "improve performance, but actually allows that player to turn in a season that is statistically, when compared among the thousands of individual seasons from all players going back decades, ranks as the 27th best ever recorded. WTF?? Those chemists don't get the credit they deserve, it's practically magic.

      @bmac4 Před 2 měsíci

      Changing your hitting approach can uptick your home runs for sure, look at 2021 Joey Votto for example. Gonzo always hit for extra bases with consistently high career double totals.
      But yeah he had a lot of roid allegations. He's denied them and stayed free of most accusations from players and management, with only one from a DBacks management partner really ever making waves, but there was always grumblings from fans due to the unusual nature of his surge coinciding with the peak of his career. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they were true, but he does seem like a player who was already pretty good and roids just gave him that extra push to mash at an elite level.

      @MazeDaGr8 Před 2 měsíci

      Well, I'm fairly certain Yankees Fans aren't really fond of people who stop them from winning world series

    •  Před 2 měsíci

      @@MazeDaGr8 Don't quote me on this, but the Yankees may have lost more World Series than any other franchise. Basically due to the sheer volume of World Series they have been eligible for. So Luis Gonzalez, I am sure, is not the biggest name or best overall player that has played a big part in adding to those WS loss totals. However, the way he ended the 2001 WS was maybe one of the most heartbreaking losses for the Yanks. And on a extremely fortunate, "perfectly placed" bloop hit, if there is such a thing. Perhaps the 1960 Bill Mazeroski bottom of the 9th inning game winning HR in game 7 of that WS was even more dramatic, but I was only 2 years old at the time, so didn't really have the appreciation for it as much as I did for the Gonzalez game winner in 2001, at the age of 42. And that the Gonzales single that ended game 7 versus the Yankees in the 2001 WS was simply gravy. Thanks for the memory, Luis and the 2021 World Champions.

    I actually enjoy your streams, especially this one, as I was a fairly new resident when Gonzalez & Co. won the 2001 World Series. Yet I still feel the need to correct your mathematical percentage mistakes about Mariano Rivera's and his stats. Ummm, Mariano Rivera did not convert 99.99% of his save opportunities. And .1% is what is left from a 99.9% from 100%. .01 percentage would be that percent left from 99.99% of 100%. Neither quoted percentage you referred to was mathematically correct, and unfortunately for you today, math is my forte. Sorry. It's almost an addiction to correct math errors, and you are today's sacrificial lamb, lol. I do appreciate your shows however, thanks.

    FromESPN-
    “In this decade of baseball right now that we're going through,
    there's always the speculation of things," Gonzalez said. "2001
    always comes up for me with the 57 home runs. It was a great year
    for me. That's all I can say."
    Don’t hear a ‘no’ in there 🤔

    •  Před 2 měsíci

      Did you have a point? Must you deny something every single time the 2001 season or 2001 WS is mentioned? So if you ever omit denying a rumor everytime you speak about a certain subject it proves you a liar? BTW, a "NO" in there would also not be considered proof that he did or didn't use steroids. What you are trying to insinuate about Gonzalez is bogus without an ounce of proof. Certainly didn't hear a "YES" from you, stating that you have proof either.

    POTENTIAL of PED usage?? I thought it was pretty cut and dry considering the fact that he more than DOUBLED his single season home run record AND he had about 30 RBIs more than his second highest total. His OPS was 200 points higher than his second best total and his OPS+ is as over 25% better. Of course this doesn’t change the fact that he’ll forever be a hero because of his timely hitting that turned what would normally be a lazy fly out to the shortstop into one of the most clutch pieces of hitting of all time due to the circumstances.
