So happy you reacted to this. I went to highschool with these guys in Newcastle Australia, and they had it rough. Came from shitty family situations and were bullied until they got popular. They played at our highschool formal(equivalent of Prom) the video was filmed on the Newcastle to Sydney train, a train I am currently on right now 😆 I had friends that were extras in that video. Thanks for the nostalgia blast!
Holy shit , was that filmed? Id love to see that
Just moved back home to Ireland from Newy. Beautiful place, Mereweather is unbelievable
Oh wow that so cool. it’s sad that they were bullied in school though
I'm so happy to see some people react to this song and really feel the song. I couldn't watch this fast enough.
This entire album is amazing and one of my top 20.
Yes! I love this song and this album so much. This album is in my top 10.
SilverChair - Tomorrow OFFICIAL VIDEO these kids were 14 years old in the video and when their first breakout hit "tomorrow" came out. Like the rock/grunge version of hansen lol.
The Frogstomp version sounds better than the music video to me, but it depends because there are two music videos and the Australian Version sounds more like a demo to me.
Late reply but don't ever compare Silverchair to f#@king hanson again...Silverchair had Tallent and grew to release some of the most beautiful songs ever written...
@@adrianrobertson5139 Hey whoa bro, I am a huge Silverchair fan. I think you took my comment the wrong way. The analogy was pure and simply about age and nothing else. So relax and rip a bong or something and chill.
Frogstomp 95
Freak Show 97
Neon Ballroom 99
OMG they are he looks a lot like them too 😂
I really love “Freak”, “Blind”, and “Israel’s Son” from these guys.
Cemetery - No Association ^^
The lever, freaking heavy...
@@pareanoapicard8079 Love every single Song^^
@@pareanoapicard8079 trash, untitled, Spawn, Roses, steam will rise etc^^
Try "Asylum" (2003) Live from Faraway Stables.
Their greats for me are Tomorrow, Ana's Song, Anthem for the Year 2000
I would highly recommend "Across The Night" from their album Diorama (2002), they wrote "Emotion Sickness" when Daniel Johns was 19 years old which is crazy and Diorama was written when he was 21. He wrote some of the most beautiful songs I heard, genius
This is during a time when Daniel (lead singer) was in the throws of a pretty narly eating disorder.
Facts. “Ana’s Song” is gut wrenching, no pun intended.
So happy you guys did Silverchair. I feel they have been forgotten about. Great band.
No-one reacts to them. I love them, especially the heavier stuff, but no-one looks into them.
@@katherineschmidt2075 I just watched a movie called What Keeps You Alive that played Anthem of the Year 2000. That made me happy.
Tomorrow, Pure Massacre, Israel's Son, Freak, Anthem for the year 2000, Ana's song(openfire), Cemetery. lots of good songs
This is nostalgic in so many ways for me. When this album dropped in 1999, I was in Marine Corps basic training. When I got done with that, I came home and saw this was out and purchased it immediately because I used to play a TON of Silverchair songs with my buddies in my "band" that never did anything but jam. I listened to this album so much while at the School of Infantry. It's nuts remembering back 22 years to when I was just 20 years old listening to this sometimes... life moves FAST!
One of my favorite bands soooooo underrated, they came out during the grunge era as kids and they progressed and made their own sound. Silverchair are in my top 10 bands. This is a very emotional extended track but you will not be disappointed with any silverchair, please please do Ana’s Song it’s their most popular track and what really put them on the map.
They're definitely in my top 10 as well!
I'm pretty sure "tomorrow" already put them on the map!
Silverchair were a great band for the time, Daniel Johns is super talented. Thanks for the shout out Hollywood 😝🤘
'for the time'? Dude, they were a great band, period.
Silverchair's first album, "Frog Stomp" was amazing!! They were literally 14 or 15 years old when it came out
I remember when that album came out in the mid 90s, they were almost billed as baby Nirvana, due to the fact the members were so young. Been awhile since I heard their songs.
Finally Silverchair !!
i started because of them
I started playing guitar when the album Freak Show came out in 1996. I've been able to play every Silverchair song since then. i started because of them^^ THX 4 the Video
Silverchair’s live performance of this song in Sao Paolo is insane.
Totally agree with you, that it's my favorite performance of this song ❤️
Everyone MUST see that version! czcams.com/video/IZSFaFV86eE/video.html
Mind blowing
Their 1st album frog stop is a classic
16 year olds
No auto tune
No back track
Just pure rock and roll with Instruments
14year olds^^ just 1 Week. Platinum record^^
frogstomp did use vocal pitch correction. you can hear it in tomorrows vocal stems. everything from freak show and later were all without correction and true vocals.
I would think the first ones to come to mind would be "Israel's Son" or "Ana's Song". I was blown away in the best possible way that they did this one..
Now. Onto "Faultline" then "Cemetery" then "Ana's Song" then "Blind".
GOD this is so NOSTALGIC!
Brilliant band, been a fan for many years. One of my all time favourite songs is by them, called Tuna in the Brine
Love Tuna in the Brine.
Great track! I also think Paint Pastel Princess and Those Thieving birds goes under the radar a bit.
That song was a hard listen for me
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands off their best album. God I miss Silverchair 🤘🤘🤘
I love silverchair I still listen to them every day and all of daniel johns side projects too.... it makes me angry they were rejected by the grunge scene because they were young and people claimed they were copying certain bands but obviously they were way better than most bands out there at the time.... jealousy? Definitely because Daniel Johns voice is beautiful.
They evolved a lot as a band and became more orchestral and musical in later albums
This is off of their 3rd album “Neon Ballroom”, their magnum opus in my opinion. They did plenty of heavy but this song is a masterpiece. You want heavy? Pure Massacre, One Way Mule, Nobody Came. Dig into this band guys, not much past the third album though. They evolved, but not in a good way.
I actually love Diorama, their 4th album a massive amount too... never really listened to the 5th and final album much
Neon Balloon is where they left it all on the canvas.
@@paulshaw9953 i agree Diorama is a masterpiece of music writing. It's certainly some steps away from their grunge roots, but i'm okay with that. Frankly, these guys were too talented to keep making anthem rock music.
2 words "spawn again" been trying to figure out that song since high school hahaha
Diorama is their magnum opus. It's a masterpiece. And they definitely evolved in a good way.
What a great reaction. One of the best bands of all time. Daniel Johns is such a musical genius.
Both the guitar player and keyboardist from CINDERELLA died a couple days ago. Can we get some "Don't know what you got." ?
Tomorrow, Ana's Song, Miss You Love. A few more silverchair bangers. Absolutely refreshing to see a reaction where people actually know some shit about music of the era. Spot on about them being a three piece (with some session musicians for live performances). Tomorrow is probably the song you were thinking of seeing them perform on tv back in the day - it was their breakout sngle.
Silverchair - Spawn Again, Tomorrow, One Way Mule…
Holy shit. This Is a welcomed video... niceeeee
No thank you bro.... YOU my friend are a true Trash Talker
@@Hollywood6IX I have people who've played beer pong with me that would definitely agree with you.
Our Daniel can sing such a beautiful voice .
Probably silverchair’s greatest song
They have more popular and heavier tunes but emotion sickness is just the height of their compositional skills
Daniel John’s is such a genius
I always felt that Silverchair was held back.. To get anywhere in Australia you realllly have to do what you're told. At the time the grunge scene was taking off in Australia, so bands such as Silverchair/Grinspoon ect were taking off since it was the cool thing.. I felt that when Silverchair went more into prog rock they were left behind.. which was a shame because they had great potential, I wanted more UGH and metal from them personally.
Fun fact the Piano recorded in this song was done by famous Pianist David Helfgott on which the movie Shine was based on his life. Also this song is far heavier and even better in Silverchair’s live performances.
Omg silverchair live, one of my top 10 bands live for sure!
I grew up with Silverchair too. They are very talented and took risks with different sounds, they matured musically very quickly. I’m so glad you appreciate their music. Hopefully you check out more. They have such a variety of heavier (first two albums) to different sounds. I personally love Ana’s song which is from the same album as this one. I also enjoy their first two albums a lot.
Best song us suicidal dream
Check out ‘Tomorrow’ , then ‘Pure Massacre’ , definitely more of the grunge era work y’all were thinking of…:) Plus they were 15-16 when those came out, it’s incredible they killed it at such a young age….
This is one of my all time favourite songs. It’s what I would play if someone asked me to describe what it’s like living with mental illness. It just captures it perfectly.
The piano in this is played by David Helfgott, a very famous concert pianist, who was played by Geoffrey Rush in the movie Shine. He himself lived with schizophrenia, making the layers to this song even deeper, imo. And no one at the time expected a teen grunge band to hook up with one of the greatest concert pianists to have lived. It was different.
I think Silverchair is a journey. You start with Frogstomp, when they were only 14 or so. Tomorrow, the lead single off that album, was written by Daniel Johns (guitarist and lead singer) when he was only 13. Then Freak Show added a bit more. Still grunge, but a bit deeper. Then Neon Ballroom (the album this song is from). There was still some grunge, like the song Year 2000 (this album came out in 1999), but it blossomed into this experimental progressive rock sound that no one was expecting, but we really should have (cemetery from Freak Show had hinted at what was to come). Then Diorama, which got even more grand and the musicality was just off the charts. Then Young Modern, which pulled it back a little into a more radio friendly sound, but was still experimental as.
It’s a whole journey. They start off as a nice little rosebud, lovely, but not anything too unusual. Then they blossom into the most gorgeous flower you’ve ever seen, where nothing has ever looked quite like it.
They’re (obviously) one of my all time favourite bands. Their first three albums got me through some extremely rough times as a teenager, and the fourth and fifth grew with me. Amazing, extremely underrated band. Daniel Johns is a musical genius, and I do not say that about many people. And he’s just as good a vocalist as he is a songwriter.
Brilliant song. Love it
Love it! Not many react to silverchair so I'm delighted to see you guys do it! Israel's son is a great old grunge track or Ana's song for more emotion. Keep it up lads!
Amazing given the songs title that the actual music can take you to so many different places. Genius song writing.
As kiwis we show love to this Monumental Australian Rock Band Salute to the Boyz👍🇳🇿
Clean picking at 10:30 w the scary piano is cool
Great reaction guys! You should definitely delve more into Silverchair, this band is underrated in my opinion. I would like to recommend Ana’s Song (open fire), Tomorrow, Abuse Me, Anthem for the year 2000 🙌🏼👏🏼👍🏼👋🏼💜🇨🇦
Silverchair - freak ) is a heavier song
Hi guys my first time in your channel. Greetings from Las Vegas NV 🤙🥁🤙👍. Is excellent song of Silverchair Band but this song is super sad. Excellent channel. More successful!!!
To me this is probably the most fascinating band to me in my opinion beacuse they made a few albums at first and then something happened in the band and then they stop and then what 10 years or 20 years later they come back and they still got it
You have such a cool repertoire of great Songs from every corner. Keep it up!
Kiwis are our two headed brothers
FREAK is a must listen by SILVERCHAIR
These guys were so young in their debut album, YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO THAT ALBUM #FROGSTOMP
I grew up this this music, thank you very much to whoever requested this.
Men you 2 remind me my friends and i when we were young and listen to new musics, just sitting in a room smoking pot and share our feelings about what we' re listening to... i love your reactions, i just want to sit with you and discover new shit. And by the way maybe guys if you want to.. you can react to the band Karnivool and the song New day or Aeons? There s a lot of Tool vibes in. I think you guys will like it. Thank you brothers..
19 when Daniel Johns wrote this song. Only 12 and 13 when they wrote their first album.
It is spot on that you made the smashing pumpkins connection, Daniel Johns is a major SP fan.
Amazing song and I loved watching the reactions! Without You would be my suggestion for another silverchair song.
"Is he in a washing machine?" hahahaha
"Aww it's only raining on his window"
Silver chair! That brings me back! Please check out their songs from Frogstomp album?! They are all bangers! 🤘😃👍
Daniel the lead singer was going through serious anxiety, depression, and anorexia. This album was from 1999. The next album is even more theatrical but more happy sounding. Every album they tried a new genre. I suggest Tuna in the Brine. It's their strangest song but it's a masterpiece.
I love silverchair, this song is by far their greatest composition. Smokey and H6, this song was apparently written during the singers' issues with drugs and eating disorders. He was extremely thin during this period and medicated. I think the struggle shines through the song.
Food for afterthought, the lead singer of silverchair is competent. In all, instruments..... Piano etc, he can write music for every Instrument invented, he can compose music for an entire orchestra, these guys at the age they started, 14;15 years old, still in school, their music was angst grunge, they were even unfairly labelled nirvana in pyjamas, these blokes , put Ozzie music back on the map
Love the tool reactions. Very excited to see a silverchair one! Please more. “The lever”
Nah, gets boring and repetitive quite fast for me
Yes, great reaction guys!
They releaaed their first album Frogstomp in '95 when they were fifteen.
From that album you want Pure Massacre, Tomorrow, Israel's Son.
But their second album, Freakshow from '97, you'll want Freak, Abuse Me Cemetery, The Door.
After that their sound begins to change. Still good, but this is where it starts.
They had a Full on Orchestra do the insturmental for this specific song
They definitely were big in 95, but this song came out 99
Damn. I remember liking their breakout hit but never dug into them. I will now. I got a radiohead vibe with this one.
cheers my Friends! ✌✌🍻🍻✌✌
The song was released in 1999 . They were a trio and they came out with the album Frogstomp . They were 15 when they made that album if I remember correctly.
Their first 2 albums were harder for sure Neon ballroom is when they started to be less heavy and more mellow they started their band when they were 15/16 it's insane how good they've been since then..
Do a Reaction to Silverchairs Lead Singers Solo work, post the bands career.
Daniel Johns, 2 Albums
Talk or Future Never
Maybe try Aerial Love, Cool on Fire, and Electric.
Youll be blown away at the difference in music.
Even has Hip Hop and R&B/Electronic influences.
Crazy
Daniel Johns was really starting to explore his immense song writing talents here. Brilliant writer. Lost soul.
This was off their Neon Ballroom album from 1999, so they already had 2 records before this which where both more raw and heavy. Their 2nd album Freak Show is probably their most heavy with more metal elements, and their first album Frog stomp was more raw with more grumble elements. From Neon Ballroom onwards they started to incorporate from orchestral and indie rock elements, especially towards their end. I saw them touring on the Neon Ballroom album in 2000, and it was awesome, and probably my favorite album of theirs along with Freak Show. Really great band.
This was released in 1999. Their first 2 albums were more a combo of grunge and Helmet, so I nearly fell over after hearing/seeing this song live for the first time (from their third album) I think besides Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, this is the best symphonic rock song I’ve ever heard.
That clip of that dude accidently kicking his food away, was funny AF.
He must of been like: "Aw man!!! I wanted to EAT that!!!"
I mean, that would suck! Similar stuff like that has happen to me too!
Why did I find that so funny?
Leave me out by these guys is an absolute banger, goddamn.
Hi from Adelaide Australia 🦘 Silverchair are in my top 5
This makes me very happy that you like this song it's one of my favorites from neon ballroom which is their third album. It came out in 99 I believe because they had the anthem to year 2000 and anas song on there. But that whole album is amazing. Also after the young and modern album Daniel went solo and has some amazing work, also check out his side project dream. I will send a link to some of Daniel johns solo work
Ben Cocks - Feel So Cold a chilling beautiful voice
React to Ana’s Song from the same album which is about the lead singer, Daniel John’s struggles with his eating disorder known as Anorexia. It’s kind of a play on words in a way with the title “Ana’s Song”. Tomorrow and Israel’s Son from their first album Frogstomp are really good. Abuse Me is another good song from Freak Show.
I LOVE this band. Their first few albums are amazing. They won a talent contest in Australia and recorded their first album while they were like 16-18 I believe.
14
haven't heard silverchair in a LONG time.
Allot of metal bands are pro environment / against deforestation hence the forest music videos and songs like Trees by Rush, Blackened by Metallica, Hands All Over by Soundgarden , Screaming Trees , Gorjia etc ..
This song is so much better live .
VEKTOR- RECHARGING THE VOID
Man this band has two whole albums with good ass heavy songs on it and this is the song people recommended to you
Ya man 100% . No offense but unless it's for nostalgic reason, frogstomp and freakshow isn't where I'd go for heavy. I'm with the band when they basically say their early stuff is lame.
Yeah I always thought it sounded like Smashing Pumpkins "Tonight" song
actually tonight sounds like emotion sickness
@@joao126588888 Tonight came out way before Emotion Sickness.
Listen to Daniel John's podcast that came out last year, as part of it there is a long interview between DJ and Billy Corgan
You want heavy shit, ho to their frogstom, or freakshow album. You want to blow your mind go to Diorama, you will immediately. See the progression, cheers
Also, try the song: tuna in the brine by Silverchair or Paint Pastel Princess by Silverchair
I used to play this album reallyyy freakin loud every day when it came out and my friends hated it lol. They liked their previous more grungy rocky albums better. I loved them all. One great thing about Silverchair was that they changed so much over the years so you got to see so many different sides to them. One of their popular songs from their next album was called Straight Lines. Another good song and very different
React to Anthem For The Year 2000 next.
It's also by Silverchair, and its lyrics ring true today (in my opinion)
They should call it 2020, cause it doesn´t exist
Highly Suspect...My Name is Human
Hell yeah lads need some more aussie content! Karnivool, gyroscope, the living end,John butler trio, make them suffer,Eskimo Joe. Just to name a few 👌
Hey good choice!
Stick with the theme and do “emotional rescue” by the Rolling Stones
PS: great memory smoke. Everything u recalled was right
You guys should check it out Red Fang - Blood Like Cream... The zombies drink beer intead eat people's brain on the video. Cheers from Brasil, love your channel!!!
Silverchair: One way mule
Need to do Israel's son, blind, pure massacre, madman, spawn again, anthem for 2000, one way mule, suicidal dream, Hollywood, many more as well.
Orr-- react to a live performance. Try full concert "live at Newcastle Hotel 1995" .best live show ever(1st televised live show with 1st album). Or Rock In Rio 2001 or 2002 in front of like 300,000 people.
Silverchair breaking out of the "Dumb Nirvana Clone" box every critic and music writer doomed them to, when they were only FIFTEEN, is one of the better stories in music. This album was incredibly important to me in high school.
Mr Wonderfuls finisher? RiP
Wow you did silverchair .
Been hearing this since it came out, only just now feeling life muse stole some of their vibes, especially from this album
video starts at 5:52
Daniel Johns wrote that as an 18 year old!
Check out the live version at Rio in 2003 brilliant. Peace brothers
Israel's Son, Tomorrow, Ana's Song.
