THE MRMATTANDMRCHAY CHANNEL, established 2009:
I'm passionate about uploading quality and interesting videos for YOU, my audience.
What is my channel about? "Old lift machinery made interesting", old air-raid sirens, prehistoric alarm equipment - things that I find fascinating and I hope you will too. If "I" don't find it interesting (or funny in case of this video!!) - IT DOESN'T GET UPLOADED!
I always spend a lot of time editing my videos with animations, video in-sync with music and voice overs to make them this way. I'm also a perfectionist!
My moto - "Quality NOT Quantity" - spending a month editing a video is not a rarity!
But without you, I'm nothing here. Thank you so much for watching.
...mrmattandmrchay is me (Matt) and my son Chay.
Your footage was used by Mark Felton Productions czcams.com/video/WgaCNEQzL1Q/video.html
That was with permission :) I'm extremely grateful for the mention, very interesting video! Never gave the history of the sirens a lot of thought until seeing Mark's documentary.
Music to my ears the sound of those lovely old motors
You never fail to impress with your uploads! So well edited and recorded all the time. Appreciate you filming these classic lifts while they are still around!
Cool, thank you very much and glad you enjoyed watching it!
Schindler's Lift
probably best lifts ever those releys clickin'
NICE!!!
You have my like even before I watch the video. Thanks for share this great content with us!
Great !
very well made video indeed. extremely interesting very much enjoy these.
Great elevators!
Those elevators work just as smooth as a well oiled and maintained machine still in service 52 years later. Very massive geared traction machines and the motorized brake. The floor selector is an engineering marvel. Preserve these elevators and their relay logic controls. They a piece of history and built to last.
brilliant can watch these all day long many many thanks
Such amazing lifts, the relays are so interesting
Fantastic! Can't wait for part 2.
Now that's a huge freight elevator
Another of your video that goes down to my bucket list of "My favourite mrmattandmrchay videos to watch" LOL! The way you edited this video makes me speechless, you're definitely one of the *BEST* lift filmers ever!
Was the smaller lift originally a goods lift as well before it was converted into a passenger lift, or is it really a passenger lift since it was installed?
Very good video, thanks for posting!
I assumed in my reaction of a other video (with the Citroën) I heared the noise of a Dynatron drive, tough it wasn't. It seams to be a 2-speed motor, type KDLF/KDH. The accelerating sound is quite similar to a Dynatron. Thanks again for this informative video :-)
Hi! I am from Romania and i see you like lifts, especially the old ones. I have to say that, here, in Romania, those old lifts that you like are literally everywhere, in every block. Due to our loe budget (state's budget), the lifts weren't been repaired. The majority of lifts from here are I.F.M.A. , not OTIS, but those ones are very beautiful, I like them too. The buttons are old and vintage, the doors are in big part, with manual opening, the car is made of wood and so on... In my oppinion, it would be great for someone that likes lifts to make a trip and see some old lifts. I would send you some images, but I don't know how to make contact with you. Hope you read this.
Excellent footage, that must take you a lot of time to do all the editing. Love the older electro-mechanical equipment.
Hi
both of those lifts seem a lot bigger than average!
ZZ9 Productions they look like goods/service lifts
I'm realy scared of lift's and you are "playing" with them i had goose bumps when you are on the lift and the vacuum cleaner starts😮😮
It's all part of the 'frisson' and probably what gets him (and us!) off. The siren fetish is even stranger.... love it!
So these lifts were installed when the building was a department store, and survived the building’s change into a shopping centre in the 80’s. I think I read the buildings due a renovation, I wonder if they’ll still survive past that.
Very interesting info.
First video where I actually heard someone say his name, and full name!
It looks like there's a baby schindler-branded Horace Green Trislot motor on that motorised brake... And it wouldn't surprise me!
Fascinating engineering, a truly remarkable machine
Your transition to the intro is getting more clever and clever.
Everything over relays. Cool.
13:01 nice selector.
Very interesting. Why does it require you to hold the button longer if the lift is already at your floor? I can just imagine people smashing the button thinking it's not working! LOL! Why are there 2 lifts? In case one breaks down? This is giving me tons of questions to ask! Also, how did you manage to get unlimeted time?! Looking forward to part 2!
As a new subscriber the videos are fantastic and the somewhat spooky music in some. Amazing attention to detail 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the comment and the sub :)
Amazing!! I enjoy it Whatching this espectacular videos! Quality
Wow, cool, thanks for the comment Juan!
Very nice video, they's Schindler elevators are amazing!
6:55 min - These old Relays and theyr sound 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 i like it so much
cool, yes, these lifts make a great sound! Part 2 coming in a few days I hope
The goods lift is so big, you could easily fit a car in there. Why do these lifts have additional “swing doors” on the outside?
dykodesigns2yt those doors are fire doors! When there is fire got enough to melt the cake holder it releases them and causes them to close under their weight. Or they are released from the fire alarm being activated and a mechanical release for them (someone told me this was common in the older days)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. CHAY !
I liked the video but What name of the intro song 0:49
This is AMAZING!!!!!!
Technik cool Relais-Logik 😊
What is this building? Not it's location but what type of building is it?
Its a shopping centre
mrmattandmrchay From the scenes of you walking through the building it looked very empty
You've muted the music. But in the 1 sec it plays, I know it's Ed Sheeran - Perfect. That song makes me a Lil bit emotional though.
I had to mute it as it flagged as copyright on the first upload, so second upload I had to cut to the motor room audio instead.
them horrible german bottle fuses .... aaaaarrrrrgghhh
Very nice video, a really clear explication off things, we should of have these 20 years ago for formation.
But now in Belgium they are disappearing fast because the modernisation program.
A little detail, the selector switches have 3 positions, up none down, there is a position in the middle when the lift is on the floor, it connects to neither up nor down.
With is logical because when the lift is on a floor and someone makes a call to that floor the lift should not move.
Interesting thanks for the comment. Although having seen a few of these wheels, not sure that there is a middle position - if you look at the wheel, there is a 'ramp' which flicks the switch up or down, but there it isn't possible to hold the switch in a middle position. I understand what you're staying and this is certainly the case with Russian style switches such as here: czcams.com/video/wwONptWo8P4/video.html
3:09 well thats odd how you have to hold down the button for a few seconds to get it to register even though the fast registering systems were avalible at the time these were installed
Well Im guessing that they need a long door timer on these for if theyre putting alot of stuff onboard
Does this also use a slip ring motor?
yolotopper A slip ring motor will have 3 relays starting in sequence of 1.5 seconds
It's Harrihealey 02 not Harryhealey 02
I spelt it wrong on purpose, to see who reads the description - WELL DONE!! Joke a joke, now corrected!
Holy cow the goods lift/elevator is so big you could probably fit a small SUV in there
yep, certainly large lifts :)
Well I dont know if this is strong enough to pick up something like an SUV but it still looks cool other than that
10:02 How do they actually hand-wind?
A G It’s probably just covered, not removed. :-)
4:55 Intro
What is underneath the machine room floor?
When is Part 2 coming
Kinda give me backroom vibe a bit
Why is that elevator car so big, Could it take a full size vehicle like a Citroen C1 ?
what makes you think that its 1960s ?
its the thing that drills the hole
that holds the spring that drives the rod that turns the knob
that works the thing-ummy-bob.
Did u forget to change accounts
3:57 what's song?
9:00 I have to watch with auto-generated subtitles to avoid waking the children - what is a ‘road penis’?
LOL both me and Chay were laughing at your comment haha! Now that is a good question :D tomorrow im going to place it back and translate it properly!!
What the?
Out of all the videos on this channel this video is absolutely annoying with the repetitive in an out button pressing
