Out of all the gizmos and high tech accessories, it was the drain in the front trunk so you can put ice and drinks for a tailgate party that sold me. That’s awesome.

Im scared im gonna get electrocuted 🥺which doesn't make sense bc EVs drive in the rain. Wait what happens in a flood?😬🥺
@@milanimorales2645 the battery and wiring is sealed. You’d be screwed if water got inside a gas engine too, nothing’s different here. Teslas actually can float.
@@santiagol365 They actually don't float, which is what makes them so much better! Their heavy weight keeps the tires on the ground with traction while a lighter gas car would get pushed by a strong current or float causing a dangerous situation.
@@MFJN1929 it's a negative, that just means more frequent tire changes because odds are you aren't driving into a lake often
depending on how much power you actually have with that full battery,

I love your videos. You are articulate about specs, but also are good at quantifying the feel of these vehicles. Well done.
Hat's off to an amazing and comprehensive review. Thoroughly enjoyed all the minutia and information, but most of all applauding your preparation. BRAVO!
someone sat there and thought, “lets make this truck power a house” what a genius
Texas might've been a inspiration
If I recall correctly someone with a Tesla X/Y (I don't really remember which model) powered their home with it when Texas had a power outage
Edit: Ignore my comment, I was wrong, apparently it was tesla power wall not a vehicle being used as power source
I could have used that last hurricane season
*ford executive sits down and had a big brain time*
Normal people own a power bank for their phone why not make an electric truck that is basically a power bank on wheels for your house
The hybrid F150 has an optional 7.2 KW generator. Some Texans used it to power their houses during the outage.

For years now I have been watching and sharing videos with my boyfriend of the future upcoming” all electric ⚡️ “vehicles. The Nikola Badger was my dream but shattered to the unveiling and luckily for this I would of missed out on our “Ford Lightening” this Truck especially from your video has really impressed us!! I have holding out for what this truck has to offer. Thanks to your video was very well thought out and you have an excellent way of describing what we all want to know. Thank you for creating this video and sharing. We appreciate you for it!! I have never always had small speedy cars or my latest is an SUV I bought my first new vehicle in 2011. I have raised my credit score to excellent and saved money in my savings for a down payment and I am ready to pay the less than 1% amount of $100 for a down payment hold for this amazing truck. Growing up I had a Ford Focus that is still running after 350,000 miles and no major work needed ever, I drive a ton for my job so my point is I have always had positive experiences with Ford and great memories of grandfather racing ford mustangs and winning 🏆 trophies for over 20 years. @@DeadPiixxel yes, it is.
The cabin actually has a full 2400W 120V/20A port. I could run a full-size microwave, desktop PC, AND monitor off that single port.
An electric truck makes a ton of sense. Most people aren't taking them very long range, the extra torque is great for towing, and having access to the battery bank for running tools is a game changer.
There are reasons they don't take them on long trips. You will also, not see them on the roads during winter in the northern states that see snow. Towing a load will drastically shorten the battery distance, in most cases, by 70%
Also regen is great if you tow.
@@fidstang I drive my Tesla in Canada in winter without any issue. It's honestly nicer than my VW that took 5-10 minutes to heat up in -20 and the number of times I felt the need to drive 200+ miles in a single trip in the dead of winter on the side roads without superchargers was zero.
@@dakshmota3480 I hope so, I love my electric scooter and bikes. But, I'm not sure how they will overcome winter battery performance and life. I have a couple friends with EVs and they use their gas cars for daily commute during winter. Not even sure if it'll be solved 10 years from now.
@@fidstang Why do you bring up battery distance with towing, does gas mileage not suffer when towing as well or something? In ICE trucks typically gas consumption increases by over 50% when you're towing a heavy load, this is coming from a former construction worker mind you not your typical "Telsa fanboy". Also your argument regarding the cold is not as big a deal as you think, Tesla has started using heat pumps on the batteries to make this close to a non issue. Gas vehicles on average experience a 20% reduction in fuel economy at 20 degrees. Your arguments may have been valid earlier on but not so much now and EVs have been outperforming ICE vehicles in a lot of the winter tests, check their own website.

Ford understating the range in an overhyped world is a genius idea. Removing the worry from not actually being able to achieve the stated range is just so damned understated and respectful of your buyers. Great insights Marques ✌️
You are right. I think understating the range will pay off big.

Ford isn't understating anything. 300 miles of range was determined independently by the epa.
@@omertacw good thing you can recharge it every night then
@@omertacw charge it every night then if you have access to a charger. 7500 in federal tax credit and state incentives also make the price more appealing. Not to mention saving money on extra maintenance items like oil changes and DEF.
These will be amazing as fleet vehicles. Especially on construction sites where you're not putting on a lot of distance.
Nice review. My Lightning is due around May in the Lariat in Red with Ext range battery. Nice to see the mileage up there. My Mach E mustang is at 270 and I have had as much as 318 on a warm summer day at 100%. My family will be all electric soon.

Nah I'd use this on job sites. It's a pain using the laptop against the steering wheel -.-
I want this exact same power setup in an Explorer. Though, I think any truck or mid sized and up SUV should be capable of transporting a 4x8 sheet of material. Escapes and Explorers are always an inch or two too narrow. I hate the short beds of the crew cab pickups too. Fold down seats in the Explorer are nice, but the width sucks.
Max torque is not basically flat for an electric, its more like a logarithmic scale where its starts high and then tapers out at hight rpms.
Still this is the more useful scenario for towing.
I too am not a truck guy, but I think I said "that's actually really cool" like 10 times during this video.
The fact your not a truck guy is the whole reason you said thats cool lol. Dont get me wrong. Electric vehicles are cool. But a truck is for work. That 'Frunk' is honesty one of the most appealing aspects, having a ute and wishing I had a car trunk is honestly something I think about on the daily. To have both is just the dream
Literally the best of both worlds.
You can just about guarantee that it's not coming to Aus though... =(
Yeah like you could slap a hard cover on the bed, or even a canopy (I assume that's a thing for big American trucks? Definitely is for the smaller kinds used in the rest of the world), but it'll still never seal quite as well and you lose the big open bed, it's a huge compromise and means you really should have either just bought a damn van or some kind very utilitarian 'SUV' (I'm thinking Nissan Patrol, not Mercedes GLC), especially since our smaller Utes can't tow like these can.
BUT, if you can have a bigger, real, trunk than most actual cars AND keep that big sturdy bed? Well that's just perfect. As much as people might love their gas versions, I'm genuinely struggling to see why you wouldn't have the EV.. unless you're waiting for solid state batteries, of course
Awesome video. I just put down my reservation for the Chevy Silverado EV. Time to go from V8 to electric, especially for trucks. Thanks for this very informative video!
Awesome review!!!! I’m 61 and have a 2017 Toyota Highlander that pays off in December 2023 so I’m not in the market for a new vehicle-but if I were, I’d get the F-150 Lightning no doubt about it!!!!!
That’s really impressive about the 300 mile range being rated while carrying 1,000lbs. They should totally get that message out more. That’s a huge point. When I first heard the 300 mile range I just assumed that was under best circumstances to make the numbers look good. - Respect Ford, I’m impressed you went that route.
I still wouldn't trust it. There are things like temperature, hills, speed.
@@MiGujack3 like Marques said, Ford knows this. This is why they say 300 miles. That's the minimum. Even with different temperatures, medium cargo, hills etc., you'll still get at least 300 miles.
@@cr3atur321 is it epa rated yet? If the epa rating confirms that then it really is a great accomplishment
@@Deepwing yup it's epa rated Marcus said that in the video
@@cr3atur321 No, this would not be the minimum. Hauling anything in a truck reduces its range, gas or electric. I own a Tesla with an advertised range of 326 miles. The only way you get anywhere near that is if you're doing city driving under 40mph the entire time. The minute you get on a highway and do those speeds, that actual range drops to around 225-250. So that advertised range of 230 miles for the lower model of the F-150, will be closer to 150-175 miles at highway speeds or when towing. That low of a rated range will never be usable in a truck. The highest model of the Cybertruck will have a 500 mile range. That is where every electric truck will need to be for them to become to meet the everyday needs of truck drives in the USA, and Ford is a decade at least away from that threshold.
I can't be the only one who imagined the front completely stacked with ice and filled with beer
Marques literally suggests that in the video at 6:53
It’s so dope. No oil changes. No constantly changing bulbs that go out
Why nobody's talking about water melting and high power being nearby is beyond me.
@@nathandials3847 well, Marques did mention a few times that it’s weather sealed, and that there’s a drain port.
Absolutely
👍🏾I like your commentary! I have a 150 and I love it matter of fact this is my second one,and I was interested in the electric model now seeing your presentation I will definitely give the electric model a try!👍🏾
Finally! Companies who know cars making use of new tech. Best thing is everything looks familiar in the truck. No over engineering it. Example, normal operating door handles!
Contractor here: the ability to weigh your cargo is very nice to have built in. Also, the vast majority of contractors don't drive anywhere near 300 miles in a day.
It's ideal for longer trips. Probably way cheaper than flying too
The key is how efficient is it. Any range can be achieved with increased battery capacity or adding multiple batteries.
No one cares that you're a contractor. Get a life
@@jimbeam4111 With diminishing returns though, batteries are heavy - the 85kw tesla battery is over a ton. If this video is to be believed a ton cuts down range by ~100 mi, and each additional ton would cut down more.

gotta love the consistency 😂
I noticed that too! 😂
What's an iron 😂
@@ventilate4267 hahaha..what iron my shirt?
He should review some irons. Maybe a cordless one.
This is the first time I have noticed him wearing a wrinkled shirt 👕
I'm sold! Can't wait for this truck to be made.
My guy needs to do a quick review on a iron and ironing board!
Someone needs to electrify their iron - that shirt needs some lovin stat!
Looks like he's working on the studio so he just needed to throw on something.
I was thinking the same thing Tyrone
🤣
@@nunyabusiness3786 thank you for using my proper name.....
You got sum crack?
I think he did it on purpose. Notice the things he has on his background.
10:08 Apple feeling jealous that Ford has probably captured the market, so it thought itd say hello
taking this out for trips around the country would be great.
Thank you for this review - one of the BEST and most informative Reviews I've seen - thank you. I've called my local Ford dealerships and frankly they couldn't tell me anything - which was very disappointing at best. I then went onto Ford's site, and put my "build" in and the release date is showing May 2022...I guess May's not over but, can they at least be a little more accurate ? :(
10:07 Marques talking about trucks
iMac: hello
Just a gentle reminder not to forget about Apple car😂
FBI agent should have spilled his coffee there...
Haha
Dope tech that MKBHD needs in the studio: a clothing steamer
Nah fam, don't iron your stuff (unless it's a formal attire). Save the environment some energy.
His outfit was intentional, to match the ladder, the cordless drill, etc.
@@huggyuk yeah at first I was like why is there a random friggin ladder in the shot. Then I saw the drill and realized it was all purposeful. I'd love to know if they went down to Home Depot to buy items for the shoot, or if they already had them. Or if they borrowed from maintenance in the building lol.
@@Hittorito didn’t know that there are people who actually care
